I must admit i just recently realized how classy scugs was ! I saw criss spent some time along with kenny vaughn at meral haggard place just before hag passed , hag was an old school prison cat he would only let a few cats hang out with him in his house from what i read in his life story , so criss had to be a cool cat !
He's practically country music royalty. Chris is the grandson of Earl Scruggs. He was raised by his mom, Gail Davies. He got his musical genes from both sides of his family. @jongalleog3486
16 tons was always the song the radio played in the 80s and 90s before country radio died ...this song shoulda been played too. These guys are curating a lost art. I hope this kind of authentic music never dies.
I have been privileged to have booked BR5-49 (in its original line-up) and later versions, brilliant musicians and great guys on and off stage. I am in the UK not the USA..This format performed on the Americana International Festival several times and drew great audiences and excellent reviews in the UK music publications.
I love this, a lot of talent onstage, I am a fan of BR549 and can hardly hold still listening to this, it happens that one of the band members is a hometown boy named Gary Bennett who lives just up the road, Gary had been performing with his band the Coat Tail Riders locally untill the covid thing, but has been recording new material in his home studio and hopefully will be back doing shows around town again soon, nice guy and love their music! 🎸🎵🎶
all your missing now, is the shotgun blast when you say shotgun boogie, lol. would make for an interesting country song in these hard sad and blue times lol.
I remember seeing Chris play on lower broad back when he was in high school. he has played in some great bands. hoptown tigers, shack shakers, br549, etc.,, he has played with everyone and can shred.
Chuck's D string is tuned awful low! It's flapping in the wind. Dig the Bob Scratitto "Rock The Joint" riff from Bill Haley and the Saddlemen's 1952 Essex version of Jimmy Preston's 1949 original. The exact lick was used two years later for the 1954 "Rock around The Clock" smash hit. This shit makes me wanna quit working and play my guitar all day!
He never met Earl til around 2010. By his own admission he never had any type of relationship with his father or paternal side of his family. Gary left his mom high and dry once she got pregnant with Chris.
Chris Scruggs is a musical encyclopedia both in his versatile playing and his knowledge of country music history!

The song was written and recorded by the great Tennessee Ernie Ford. The song went to #1 on the country charts and #14 on the U.S. pop chart.
This is sooooooooooooo AWESOME!!!!!!!!! Chris Scruggs is a musical genius.

Bands as good as BR549 don't come round that often. Superb singing and picking!
Chris reminds me of Webb Pierce here. By the way...awesome show! Brilliant stuff.
Best version of Shotgun Boogie I ever heard, and there are some dang good ones out there!!!
I concur!!
I don't think so . Mr ernie is the best and ever best 😅 👌
Love the Bill Haley solo! So glad I came across this video

Fantastic Number with great Solo Parts.
It's amazing what a bunch of supremely talented people can accomplish.
BR549. Love these guys. If you ever get the chance to see them live. You are in for a treat. I know they do very few shows these days.
Love Chris Scruggs. Love Marty Stuart. Love Scruggs family. But I think of Junior when I come across this band.
all your missing now, is the shotgun blast when you say shotgun boogie, lol. would make for an interesting country song in these hard sad and blue times lol.
Talent definitely runs through the veins of the Scruggs family.
Awful Lawton
Yep, your lookin' at it. 🐎

Glenn Johnson One of all time favourite hillbilly songs, this version is AWESOME!Brilliant stuff.
Ultra Terrific! my highest compliments to the drummer, stellar punctuation.
God those lyrics are great! Living the life of a shotgun boogie man you gotta have plenty of shells!!!!
First rate, especially the steel guitar chorus, but all good. Tell your drummer he's the shotgun here! Thumb up.

Chris Scruggs....a genius musician! WoW..
That's what music should be just fun. He can play a mean guitar. I love rockabilly.
Chris Scruggs rocks so much.
Best Liveact i ever heart. Chriss is for me one of the best player in the World.

Cool man. Much appreciated 😎👍🤗🎵🎼🎸🌏FNZealand
Very cool stuff. Thanks.
Right there, that’s the riff you hear in bill Hailey’s rock around the clock. Cool that br549 used it in shotgun boogie lol
Здорово 👍 рок 🎸 ролл твист рокобилли буги вуги шейк на всегда
Chris and Kenny Vaughan and Wes L' Anglois are the best show in Nashville ... add Greg Garing to the mix and you got all you'll ever need
Early rock and roll sounded a lot like this
It's what Elvis played....
Agnar Hatlevik That first comment by R. Daw was kinda silly. This is exactly what rock 'n' roll sounded like until the Beatles bastardized it.
Bet there’s no fun like that on the Opry these days!
Just love this
Steel player Donny Herron has been with Dylan quite a while now. When BR549 played here Donny Herron picked the fattest girl in the bar for a dance.
Donnie is my best friend, and THE nicest cat on earth.
Fantastic! Only a moron would dislike this.🎻🎸
I meet him last Saturday❤️🎶🎸🎙️
Hot Damn!
All I Can say AWESOME !!!
This is good shit! I love it.
superbe version !!!
J'ADORE
Junior Samples would be so proud
“The number to call is BR 549”

Chuck's D string is tuned awful low! It's flapping in the wind.

The guitar solo in "Rock The Joint"...and later reused in "Rock Around The Clock" was performed by Danny Cedrone from Philly.
Holy shit these boys are good !
I loved br 549
AMAZEBALLS!
all the way from right here in Nashville Tenn, lol
whens this from
this is fantastic
I love it.
He was taught by one of the best pickers around
Earl Scruggs
Not to mention his dad, Gary Scruggs. No doubt a lot of famous musicians hung around his house when he was growing up. Lots of jam sessions.
He never met Earl til around 2010. By his own admission he never had any type of relationship with his father or paternal side of his family. Gary left his mom high and dry once she got pregnant with Chris.
Damn!!🎸🔥
Hahaha how cool is this 😊😊😊🤪👍
MAGNIFIQUE VERSION - DU GRAND ROCKABILLY
its its a bit of the 2 styles
Class
Listen to the crowd when they realised what they were listening to real country
Hell yes!!!
Geoff Firebaugh slapping away.
Did all y'all catch the pedal steel player whipping on a Mandocaster?!
Kick ass
Cool.
Anyone know what guitar Chris Scruggs is playing? If it can make people play that good I want one lol
Jedi Knight!
listen to the don walser version. just as good
Indeed he does look like J.R.Cash!
Chris was just 19 when he joined BR5-49.
Dave Gratton identical twin on drums.
Anyone else think that Chuck Meade looks like Johnny Cash in this video?
Chris is now a Fabulous Superlative with Marty Stuart. He's only made them better, if that was possible.
Who's playing bass?
Geoff Firebaugh I believe.
Yeah that’s Geoff. He’s amazing. I wish they would have caught his infamous bass flip on camera.
The real thing...
Is chris scruggs related to earl and randy?
He's the son of Gary Scruggs and Gail Davies.
@@rockinredneck57 thanks
To bad the Opry isnt this good anymore.
Almost like Earl only a guitar 🎸☺️!
Is this rockabilly or boogie-woogie?

Today is 4/10.
they're good, but not even close to the great TEF!
Not the greatest vocalist but it’s ok.
