Ben...legitimately my aunt, mom, and grandma had to get their appendixes removed on an emergency so there is a very high chance I will have to have mine removed. literally just had this too, i was rushed in at 6:30am for first surgery because of how urgent it was. if i waited another day i wouldn't be here right now
That's no doubt scary, but even if you do needed it removed, you can live on without an appendix. Just like I can without my gallbladder. Surgery can be scary, but it's certainly better than living with the pain. Gallstones are NOT fun. Unfortunately, you can't live with appendicitis pain (appendix bursting can cause sepsis if you don't know.) The human body can be both amazing and weird

So, fun fact: when I had my appendectomy there was an anomaly; instead of having an inflamed appendix, it was dead. It had already died and was necrotic, the vomiting and pain was from the rotting tissue starting to cause infection. I have photos from the operation and it’s black and withered. Thought y’all might find that interesting :)

This reminds me of a hospital scare when they said I had to remove my appendix. I cried, then they said I don't have to. Scared the crap out of me😭
