Original overture to Jenufa. Great piece. Never seen it played since Mackerras conducted the opera in London in the 80s. For some reason productions of Jenufa (in case you didn't know - completely amazing opera!) - go straight into Act 1 with no overture. But I love this piece.
Original prelude to Janacek's opera Jenufa. Janacek wrote this first then wrote another one. I absolutely adore Janacek's music it can be so gentle yet incredibly brutal at the same time. He's a very misunderstood composer but I have a deep love for the music and great respect for the composer. I hope this helps you

A pleasure to see and hear the CPO conducted by Mackerras. His tutelage with the great Václav Talich always shined brightly in the Czech repertoire.
