    I like how you can tell Aeryn immediately makes the connection that Sebaceans originated from Earth when he mentions the primitive state of the origin species (humans) and location of the planet (Earth is located on the outer rim of the galaxy)

      wasnt that established in an episode when they brought back eidelons?

      @@toetagjeee Actually, no, it wasn't.
      They only brought back the Eidelons, but no larger dialogue was made in regards to Peacekeeper origins. It was only when PK Wars was made that they decided to elaborate (aka, the above clip).
      However, it was speculated that Humans and Sebaceans were linked before... just never conclusively determined.

      I second what Niklas said, you should definitely see it. The characters, plot and humour are all excellent. Some of the aliens are played by people in costumes and make-up but some are animatronic puppets, which were made by the Jim Henson company and look so good it's easy to forget they are puppets. Also, some of these TH-cam clips will reveal *massive* spoilers.

      Someone recommended the show to me about ten years after it had already ended. For about ten tries I couldn't get through the pilot. The show felt like it hasn't aged well, what with its 4:3 aspect ratio and the weird vibe, felt cheap for a show that was only ten years old. While I could get over that, the puppets were simply so off putting I just couldn't get into it.
      I was told to wait until Scorpius shows up, that the show really picks up at that point. So I kept watching, waiting for Scorpy, without even realizing that the show already had its hooks in me long before he showed up. It just did everything right. The sense of adventure, the action, the humor, all of it sprinkled with drama that managed to avoid feeling campy. You truly felt for those people. Hell, even the damn ship had a personality you came to adore.
      Most importantly, the villains weren't villains for the sake of it. They too had a goal, they were characters in their own right. You could write a show just about them, from Peacekeepers and the perversion of their purpose, Scorpius' painful life and his quest, even the Scarrans had a story to tell.
      There are a few filler episodes that are meh, some early on in the show, but when the story chooses its direction, it makes Farscape into the best science fiction show ever made.

    • @RedOrm68
      @RedOrm68 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Well, humans are superior in one aspect: we have a build in control mechanism to regulate our core temperature.
      Which begs the question: which of our ancestors didn't, or was it part of the genetic modifications?

    • @toomanyaccounts
      @toomanyaccounts 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@RedOrm68 likely a defect due to genetic modifications. you sometimes have to compromise on one aspect to get ten other things to work right. if the Sebeceans have garments or tech they can compensate for different temperatures.

    • @RedOrm68

      @@andrewmark2783 I don't think so. True, Sebbaceans, Peacekeepers really, spent most of their lives in space, but as a whole the species didn't. A genetic defect, like that rather limits the options for habitable planets.

    I absolutely adore Farscape, but I will say that I feel they dropped the ball a little when it came to the origins of sebaceans and how they were connected to humans. It is sort of explained here and we are left to connect the dots, but other than that, it is more or less brushed aside as a novel fact. I wish they had gone into it a little more, maybe have a big revelation and get John's take on the fact that they were the same species until they weren't. Nevertheless, I still love it. ^^

      Generally-speaking, slaves are not allowed to be heavily-armed elite soldiers. It is more that their ancestors were prehistoric tribal people and thus what they understood of civilization came from their Eidolon sponsors and the species that they were tasked with policing.

    Farscape is a stupid person's idea of serious sci-fi. It is for people who get impressed by pretentious verbose scripts and ever-more stupid looking makup and costumes.
