- Hello TH-cam Friends! Welcome to my first Christmas video of the year! In today's video, I will be giving new life to old Christmas decorations. This year, I am going to do my best to recreate and upcycle as much of my Christmas decor as possible, or at least the items that need a makeover. Instead of sharing lots of shopping hauls and encouraging you to spend all your money, I am going to be encouraging you to use what you have and update anything you aren't in love with and haven't used because you no longer like the style or color.
I hope you are inspired by today's makeovers and you will come back to see me next week as I continue more DIY projects and start decorating our home for Christmas.

For all the trouble you had with the spray adhesive and snowflakes, they all turned out beautiful! I LOVE your gingerbread houses, the deer and the angel candle holders. Wow, I guess I love them all!
Thank you! Omgosh, that glue!!! 😆 I grabbed the wrong one and it stays tacky! It took forever to dry and then I had to spray the clear coat on it to make it not sticky. The top coats dulled down some of the sparkle, which was fine with me. But, lessons learned for sure! So glad you liked the end result. Xoxoxo
I think the diamond dust is actually glass. That's why it is scary to work with.

Ok... a trip to the thriftshop to find a house to redo! Love the way these turned out. I also have many deer , in every style , as I started collecting them about 5 years ago. Also winter deer art for my walls . I do have a beautiful angel who is already painted that stone color , with bronze hair. I may try adding some fine glitter to her hair and wings. Thanks for the inspiration> Your creativity always starts a spark!
I actually have both the reindeer and the same angel candle holders. These turned out so beautiful! Now I want to paint my Christmas houses. I so love how these turned out. ❤

@@b.walker5955I actually found the angle candle holders at my local Goodwill. You might also check any stores that sell the vintage decor, they sometimes will have things as well. 😊

Hello Deborah, I have to admit that after you painted over the beautiful design you had penned on the deer I was concerned. However, they turned out beautiful! Everything you transformed came out wonderful!

Oh my! I loved it all, especially those gingerbread houses, and reindeer. I love the continuity of the color of the houses with the reindeer. Thank you again for your great repurposing of what you already have, and honesty regarding how it’s not necessary to constantly show new hauls. Yay! Go for it! I know they can sometimes be worth $, but in the end the value comes from how you enjoy them. Mine were wrapped up and stored in a bin because I got rid of the boxes years ago. I am going to try the faux icing look at some point. I hope yours turn out amazing! 🤎 Let me know! Xoxoxo

Deborah your gingerbread houses look better than those expensive ones. Love the deer and angles also. I use the diamond dust on my fake bakes. It is a fine glass and can be dangerous. Everything you did today is Gorgeous.

I did the same thing when I decided to update my colors in my decor. I took lighter colors and made it my own for my decor. I went crazy painting everything. But instead of getting rid of it all and going out and buying new I just updated it. I am so happy I did that. I saved a lot of money. Everything came out gorgeous. Boy, I have to admit I was worried about the gingerbread color. When it first went on it looked like baby poo brown! 💩 My kids are 27 & 29 now, but that color is one you never forget. 😂 Glad to see it dried much darker. They all look great. 🤎
😆 Baby 💩! Lol! I did have to adjust the color along the way. I might try another one later on and go really dark and then also do a much lighter one. I liked both of those looks in the inspiration photos, too. Glad you liked how they turned out. 🙂 Xoxoxo

Well I finally got time to watch the videos love love love the gingerbread houses maybe you should do the whole village that way it would be gorgeous and the deer are beautiful too just my style
OMG, we are on the same brain wave lately. I've been doing the gingerbread theme for years but am so in love with the brown and white only houses as well. I did find one reasonably priced at Marshalls this year but most are so spendy! I was at a local thrift store recently that had lots of the larger style Christmas village homes and thought the same thing. Why couldn't I just paint them and make my own! Thank you so much for sharing your technique! Have to say I have not seen the deer you were going to mimic, but I love, love, love your version so much more! And finally, the snow angel!😍So in love with the makeover on your angel candlesticks. They are just beautiful!
Hey Mary! Thank you! We need to go thrifting and see if we can snag some more houses for super cheap. I've seen some for sale on Marketplace, but they want as much as a new Gingerbread house costs. Hi I just want to give a tip about Puffy Paint...back when I used to Papier Maché projects mostly Halloween decor...and needed Puffy Paint idk they made it. So I created my own w/Elmer's White Glue! just apply straight out of bottle or use a finer tipped lid...let dry in pattern you want & once it's dry you can paint it any color or leave white! and it can take Sparkles too! ❄ Love these Makeover Vids!!!! 🏠🏘🏡

Thank you! I think it's good to get a new things each year, but it can add up quickly! If I get out of Hobby Lobby for less than $100 to $200, it's nothing short of a miracle. Lol. Even buying paint supplies can get expensive. I want to replace my greenery and trees with high end looking pieces one year, but not this one. Enjoy what you bought and I hope enjoy upcycling what you have, too! 😉
