XCarToys: the Chinese company trying to become TLV (not really hyperbole)

I don't think it's hyperbole at all. I don't put any one 1/64-scale manufacturer as "THE" one, although some are vetter than others. I think the best in no ranking order whatsoever are, indeed the aforementioned Tomica Limited Vintage, as well as Schuco, Round 2's Auto World, ERA, and MINI GT. I only leave Greenlight off due to inconsistent quality and sometimes accuracy of details despite it being an exceptional make overall especially with regards to value. I've bought a number of the XCarToys models and have been pleased with the product. Most of them are unique to XCarToys (who else has done an Aurus limousine and all the Hong Qi models?) and from the standpoint of a car lover who has been critical of detail since collecting at age 3 decades ago, I would have loved something like these as a kid. I will make the observation that the company is rather patriotic to the People's Republic of China not so much of its choice of models that are exclusively Chinese (the VWs, the Buicks Jeeps, Citroens are all the joint-venture locally produced versions, not the home market US or European versions), and some of the figure choices have been, "Uh, all right." But heck, these are toy models, and well done. I do collect some XCartoys, but really see them as a Chinese company with a distinctly PRC perspective, so to as various US brands appealing primarily to its home market collectors, etc. My only complaint is that unlike TLV or Auto World, it seems no one outside China knows what models will be released in the future. Most brands outside of China have superlative social media or website information to communicate with their collector clients. I'd like it better if companies like XCartoys had a better social media presence that interacts with its fans.

I think this brand is already better than TLV. Painted mirrors, black in the grills, brakes, treaded tires. All basic stuff TLV skips and they don't even paint the side vents on their Ferraris and NSX. I'm going to order a few of these myself someday.

I didn't think the Cybertruck would become reality so never bought a model. Maybe I should get one although I think a better brand might make it someday.

These are amazing. Great stuff if somebody wants something unusual and quirky - I don't know any popular producers that offer chinese branded cars

I would argue that XCARTTOYS has passed TLV/TLVN in details, especially interior. However, LCD is killing everybody, except for KENGFAi and G.C.D. I LOVE TLVN, but they are overrated Check out LCD and the other brands which they make like Oversteer/ENIF. They interior detail is insanely detailed to teh radios and IP clusters. Anyway, I think that XCARTOYS is winning over TLV, because of their interior detail, as they have matched them already exterior wise recently.

I got the Wuling mini car and Zhurong Mars Rover - both look superb and great for dioramas. I like the military castings they did and look forward to more.

I don't think Lamley has ever said AutoWorld was the American TLV. He has said the castings themselves are just as sharp and well-proportioned and I have to agree. The actual castings are exveptionally nice
