    I love these videos because they aren't recorded with a potato and the camera angle is great and you explain what you are doing.

    Love the vids. I was just wondering do you guys make most of these decks from your collection or do you buy the cards (with exceptions like staple and the like).

    • @ForestBearStudios
      @ForestBearStudios  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      derper derp It's almost always decks made from our collection, but we are always expanding it as well, so kind of both. That's why we don't do standard, it's not really worth it for us to buy cards that are only good for a short while haha.

      ***** Thanks for the reply, yeah I am
      slowly trying to move out of standard.

    The correct decision to make on game three was either 1 - keep the two tokens back on block so you could double block the eidolon (because you were in need of casting spells, couldn't just count with a rhino) or 2 - blocking two tokens at hellspark elemental and two tokens on the eidolon going to one, making you able to cast spells once again. In the end probably it wouldn't have mattered, but it would give you a chance to recap souls and keep dismember up.

    This may be the wrong video to post this on since neither of you are playing control, but I'm kinda lost as to who I'm supposed to ask.. I'm only just getting into magic (modern) and I'm the only player in our group that would actually like to play control. As such I'm very much lost as to how to build a (budget) control deck that is consistent enough to beat modern decks without sideboarding to counter their decks.. In terms of colors im looking at Sultai or Grixis.. Any advice as to how to go about build a deck/good cards that i should check out/general control knowledge that i should have?

    • @metalsabatico
      @metalsabatico 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Stoner Kebab if you want to play grixis or sultai and be able to have a chance with other competitive decks you need the fetchlands and shocklands. you can't afford to lose tempo when the metagame is so aggro oriented. if you don't care about being competitive then replace the expensive lands with other common dual lands (like the Khans of Tarkir lifelands) and the trilands (crumbling necropolis or opulent palace) and you are pretty much set. grixis control is very popular right now and there already are lots of different versions of it, budget and non-budget. if you do want to play control competitively but can't afford those dekcs then check out a deck called 8 rack. its a very good budget mono black control deck that is based on discard spells.

    • @kylemundy8871
      @kylemundy8871 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you sideboard ensnaring bridge you lock your own devil out. I love devil too and used to use him. After GG, eidolon, and grim lavamancer, there's just no room for more creatures without losing the burn in your burn deck. For sligh, devil 100%

      The Fire and Lightning premium deck, they are all foil versions from different sets so it is hard to pin down exactly.

    You should try Jacob Wilson style Abzan its so much fun and its several hundred dollars cheaper

    • @ForestBearStudios
      @ForestBearStudios  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      That list is definitely fun, but is more a meta-game decision against other Abzan decks with all their discard. The fact that Wilt-Leaf Leige lets your Rhinos trample over other Rhinos is great, but is more a mid-game bonus which doesn't impact your game against Burn generally. We also have the Tarmogoyfs so we may as well use them, though it does feel rather boring to play them as they always fit in any deck thinking of playing green.

    Why everyone use monastery swiftspear? After goblin guide, grim lava and eidolon, you don't need more.

    • @modernminded5466
      @modernminded5466 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Swiftspear is way, way better than Lavamancer.
      Also, most people play Wild Nacatl on top of all of that.

    • @kylemundy8871
      @kylemundy8871 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lavamancer can shock chumps so the others get through. Or turn a bolt against a creature into 5 damage. Personally, ill take grim

    • @modernminded5466
      @modernminded5466 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kyle Mundy It's just a tat too slow. I get that people have preferences, but Swiftspear is just objectively better in the deck.

    • @TheGirthiestSausage
      @TheGirthiestSausage 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Vupar burn is way cheaper than Abzan. Goyf and Liliana 8 cards (assuming he has playsets of both) costs you around 800 and burn if it's naya is 640ish for the completed deck so yeah so much cheaper

  • @duchyre
    @duchyre 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Burn lost to his too much life aggresive mana base I would suggest to run only basic lands and fetches (in boros color)

    • @ForestBearStudios
      @ForestBearStudios  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I originally had a single plains in testing, but it was removed, as getting a plains as your second land really slows you down, and can even ruin a turn two Searing Blaze hitting Dark Confidant. As much as the life loss hurts, the ability to power out your damage is much more important than a few points of life.

    Am I the only one who caught game 2 after the lava spike he attacked with goblin guide and swifts pear but they only did 4...no prowess😐 not that it was close or anything just...noticed it

    • @kaenine8813
      @kaenine8813 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      4 was the correct damage. Swiftspear is a 1/2 with prowess, the Lava Spike then adding the prowess trigger to do 4 damage instead of 3.

    • @mlb0226
      @mlb0226 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know if you saw it, but in game two burn won on turn 3, through a thoutseize and a tarmogoyf, on only two lands. The deck isn't slow, sometimes you just lose.

    • @Rdf55555
      @Rdf55555 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Burn as a modern deck can kill consistantly on turn 4 if you are playing a good list. This list is not like that. I thought this was the netdecked burn (The good one) until game three off the ts. But to just reply this is not the fastest deck but modern burn is.
