      You could enter local tournaments and your club and around your country entering tournaments too but realistically highly unlikely starting at 29 to win the US Open, Wimbledon or any other huge main event.

    I have started playing tennis when I was 15. Almost everyone was saying that it was too late to become a pro player. But I thought that they don't know who am I and nobody other can tell me what is possible for me or not. If I wanna be better than the others I have to improveing myself faster, so I have to train more and harder. Only I know what am I able to achieve. Yes, it's hard- but it's also possible. It was 3,5 years ago and since I have started living my dreams I am really happy. I train all days (2 or 3 trainings a day), I have a wonderful coach and all my club helps me a lot. It depends on you- not what the other people say. I play tournaments ( national) and I know that the only thing I need is to be patient. I won't be pro at the age of 20 (like those who has started earlier) but I can become a pro player a little later. Not only time does matter. It's also diet, regeneration, how fast are you learning, how good is your coach, how much can you train, mind-set, fitness trainings and what is the most important thing- fire inside your hearth and love what you do. Now I don't hope I can achieve me goals- I know it. Remember- only you create your future. Good luck 👊

    I started learning tennis at 28, now 9 months later I'm playing at about UTSA3.5 level with guys in my community and constantly improving, I still remember 2 months ago I thought these guys were good, now I could "bully" them from time to time. I'm lucky to have a very good coach, he has many juniors that are definitely going to end up in D1,D2 collage leagues. My goal is one day to reach USTA 5.0

      Go ahead, if you are talented enough and practice more than usual you have a slight chance, just dont create too much expectations, its a tough reality, most pros started when they were 4-10 max years old, they just have a lifetime of more experience. But if you have talent and train harder than everyone, you migh be able to. Take it seriously, eat healthy, train smart, stretch, work on your conditioning, and develop ur mind, which might be the most important. Wish all the best. Btw, a year later, how u doing?

    I believe it depends on the person himself because some people can learn extremely quick. I start playing in 2014 and within 1.5 year I was playing 4-4.5 level tournaments and did pretty well without any coaching. It is very possible but you have to be naturally gifted player and tons of time practicing. making a move to boca to attend FAU and to play at an academy time to take it up a notch

  • @adamcravets5408
    @adamcravets5408 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    To go pro and make a living at it? Yes it’s too late. To play in tournaments and enjoy the game for life? No. I don’t care if you were a top tier athlete in another sport, it doesn’t convert to tennis. It’d be like saying Federer would’ve been great at baseball. Michael Jordan is a prime example. Below average baseball player (compared to pros) one of the best ever to play basketball. I would probably crush Michael Phelps in tennis as 4.5 player but I couldn’t get across a pool one way before he’d be there and back. It’s like comparing apples to bridges.

    Honestly I am devastated that I couldn't play professional tennis. I wanted to compete in international tournaments like the US Open or possibly even Wimbledon a month ago but then I found out I can't. I only started 4 months ago when I was 16 (turned 17 at Sept. 20th) but ever since I started playing, I just wanted to be like federer or nadal, but then again, I found out I discovered tennis too late and at age 16, I'm pretty much out of the race without even beginning. I honestly think it was over and that I wouldn't be able to make it anyway so why am I still playing, practicing and trying hard everytime I grab a tennis racket? This video just made me recognize that it isn't over and that I am just getting started even if I know I cant play in the pro leagues because that doesnt mean I can't be competitive, still aim for the top, have fun, and still love this sport. Thanks Ian. U made me recognize this and it makes me want to try harder, practice more and keep playing even more.

I was 14 when i started first playing tennis and i learnt it pretty quickly but unfortunately i quitted because of how people made me feel that it was too late plus i live in a such country where it is almost impossible to find a proper coach that puts work in you and believes in you. last summer i wanted to join again but they told me that there were no courts and coaches available so i started working out myself and i realised that theres nothing i love in this world more than tennis. im 18 now and i believe in myself that im gonna make myself proud. i wanna be the inspiration to others who dont believe in themselves because they started late. Pretty high, most professionals started of signing and playing itf tournaments. So begin with lower ranking tournaments so you can get the concept of playing challenger open tournaments , and events. So you will have the knowledge and knowing how to handle playing under pressure.
      Go to the gym aswell it is very recommended to train offseason and on season most likely 6x to 7x a week. Depends on where you participate in a local tournament.
      Squats
      Triceps
      Rectus Femoris
      Swimming
      Wobble Board x50 second each
      And build it up to 5 min
      Your triceps and biceps
      And you're back with pull ups and chin ups.

Unfortunetly I couldn't start to play tennis in my Motherland when I was young. I don't think there's a cut-off age to start tennis, but the important thing is to learn proper technique and stick with it. Progress will be slow at first, but that's how it is when learning anything a little complicated, and tennis is not an easy skill to pick up. I am teaching my wife so I know. When she listened to me and executed her swing, she did well, but when she started to lose patience and wanted to rally faster, everything went out or to the net. You just need to remember to execute the same way with every shot, which is not easy for beginners.

    I’m 13 and hope to make the high school tennis team, I have no idea if I can do it. I have my first tennis lesson tomorrow, wish me luck. I feel like I care so much about what others think about me that I would get really discouraged if the nine year old in my lesson group would do better than me. Lol any confidence tips? Thanks

    I played soccer from 10 to 19, played a year of american football and now with 23 I started to play tennis. I played some tennis as a kid but didnt touched a racket for the last 3 years. After 1 month of trainning am already hiting strong and steady. Already developing a pretty one handed backhand with 1 month of trainning (2 hours Everyday*) is it a good sign? Maybe Badminton and Table Tennis experience at high school helped. I will aim for the national tournaments that have 4 or 5 top 500 atp players in my national top 10. For now im focus on form and gaining muscle memory.
    I really believe Im about to break the "rule of early start".
    Dedication + Talent = Success
    Look at Sinner 5 year growth
    Look at McGregor defiing the odds
    With this Im not saying that I will be a professional but I will beat those who started really early with 10 years less of experience. That Will be my Success story.
    * I am finishing my own house building so I can start playing 30/40 hours a week looking to play with the harddest playing partners that I could find

    I'm 14 and will be 15 in 3 months. I signed up for tryouts when I was 10 but wasn't able to attend because of my mothers schedule. I focused on basketball and bowling. Height was not in my favor since my father is only 5ft 3in tall. So after being pretty good for my age I didn't tryout my 4th year. Everyone else started outgrowing me so I was making less that last year. I should have still practiced for fun but I didn't. Now I'm overweight and out of shape. I started exercising again and I picked up golf. I'm for sure doing better than I was 2 months ago but I know tennis would really help. Is it worth going after?

  • @ioanb91
    @ioanb91 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's kind of a difficult thing to talk about because nobody likes to shoot someone's dreams down, but.. if you think about it practise/ time wise.. to go pro consider an average of 3-4 hours practise a day, for let's say 10 years (start at 8 years old, turn pro at 18) (3x365)x10= 10,950 hours of practise. (ballpark figures)
    So really you're looking at 10,000+ hours of guided by good coaches to even be considered as a pro.
