I once changed my Barber because the way he would speak about cheating on his girlfriend and going out to clubs and everything else. I had to stop getting my hair cut by him because I didn’t like the mindset I would leave with when I was done. Finding a good Barber is hard finding a good influence is even harder

I think in some cases that's certainly true. However in some cases that hurt is also tied to an unsafe feeling/ memory. Not condoning. Just saying sometimes it's a tantrum, but sometimes you are running for your life and as you're looking back over your shoulder you run into that trap the enemy say on the corner for you. Regardless of what it is my God can get you to an honorable place.

    • @lbee8247

@FG but God sees our sin the same, our reasons just as petty. I think some self righteousness comes in when we think our reasons for sin are more reasonable than other people's reason for sin. We tend to use a different measuring stick for our own sins and reasons for sins than the measuring stick we use on the sins that others commit to our hurt.

    • @FG-ej1xd
      @FG-ej1xd 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@lbee8247 oh I never said anything alluding to this sin being somehow worse than others I just simply said this is how I felt about it. Of course sin is sin and wrong is wrong but breaking a spiritual and legal vow you made to God and your spouse because they hurt your feelings is still childish to me. Again not saying it's a worse sin. All sin is the same

I am saved and my husband is not. On top of that my husband was raised as an only child and on top of that he doesn't feel remorse, is grandiose in all that he believes of himself, never sees anything wrong in himself, lacks empathy and everything he does is for show. We have been married for over 25 + years. God saved me in our first year of marriage. But I can say God has filled my heart with the love of Christ for him. And continues to. I am surrounded with healthy, godly relationships. We have raised amazing, now adult, children. I stayed on my knees praying and I still pray. I messed up a lot. I left a lot in the beginning, even after being saved. But I would never leave now. My joy is in Christ. And I have more than I deserve. My husband has been a blessing inspite of himself. I pray you can have the love of Christ. The forgiveness of Christ. My children don't have to be split between us on holidays. We show up together in all their needs and events. My husband was a good father. He had issues but he was present and God used his grandiose personality to bless the children. We stayed together and we are building a legacy. Divorce hurts the whole world and the whole world is better when we choose loving others more just like Jesus instead of being self focused like the world. It is hard but being conformed to the image of Christ is a painful process that leads to real joy.

I fell short once and from that point on, the gap got smaller and smaller. From months apart it turned into weeks..etc..

I think we talk a lot about infidelity in men but it happens in women as well. The unaddressed trauma that a woman has experienced from her father from molestation to neglect can present itself as promiscuity and/or porn addiction too in the hopes of receiving the love or intimacy she never felt she received. Society has made it cool to entertain uncommitted sex but it's really a bandage to receive intimacy without the possible pain of rejection. At the root of it all, I believe guarding our hearts is transforming the mind to see ourselves as Jesus sees us, worthy and valuable of Godly love.

This was sooo good! I was married for 13 years and divorced for 14 years. I’ve been having the urge to marry again, but have the fear of it being a repeat of the first. As I let God lead me into a healthy second marriage, He is showing me my “blind spots” so that I won’t repeat those things in the next marriage. Your video is so insightful and encouraging. Though no marriage is perfect, I love how you allow God to work through the imperfections that exist within each of you, to create perfect and pure love through Christ Jesus! Please keep the videos coming❤️

🙌🏾🙌🏾 y'all preached in this session. In our marriage, we're trying to unlearn some things, going back to our past and dealing with those things that really hurt us and ultimately made us into a person we don't want to be.
I agree with you that submitting is really hard cause sometimes I see it as you wanting to be in control, and I'll shut down. So dealing with that.
But also men/husband do at times take their wives submitting to them to mean, you have to do what I say at all times even if it's wrong. Forgetting that the woman is also human, an individual, she has her goals or things she wants to do for herself.
Unlearning the way we show love, as sometimes we can be insensitive, and don't regard each other's feelings and how we want to be loved.

Guys, great topic! With every episode I see your bond growing stronger. I so appreciate your admiration and adoration for each other on display, and you’re so at ease and comfortable with one another that you can crack on each other without reading deeper innuendo into it. That’s so seasoned! Two people who can laugh with and at each other is another HUGE way to guard your heart against infidelity.

I love the conversation about guarding our hearts. For me because I love God I guard the heart of God. Because I guard Gods heart I equally guard the heart of my spouse. I constantly consider if certain actions would break the heart of my spouse. If certain actions would break my spouse I would turn the other way….and I never ever want to damage the heart of my spouse. So In essence breaking the heart of my spouse is breaking the heart of God. I’ve been married 43 years and we dated 8 years prior to that.

And Preston hit on something, I noticed whenever the enemy is attacking our marriage really hard, I seem to get so much more attention from men wanting to soothe the things I'm currently upset about in that season. I'm grateful for the holy spirit for the discernment to see when the enemy is trying to deceive me!

Thank you guys. I just recently watched the Jakes, "Winning at home" and I must say that married couples need more transparency like this. We need godly wisdom in this age. For those of us that had previous trauma like molestation, growing up with addicted parents, poverty etc. it can be hard to discern the proper way to handle a spouse in communication. This helped tremendously. I subscribed in hopes that you guys do this often.

I am really thankful for this episode, I experienced emotional infidelity before my spouse and I got married. This was iniated by me and the process was so bitter sweet. I am really happy that this transpired before we proceeded to tie the knot because it brought alot to our attention that we both never really discussed about our own insecuritiesand past traumas. All the points spoken about in this episode was heaven sent and facts straight from the mouth piece of God. Thank you so much Jackie and Preston!!!! This is so good.

This was really good and gave me a lot of insight about how to guard my heart in my marriage. I specifically like the topic on friendships. I remember having a friend who talked about her boyfriend cheating so much that I would start to feel suspicious of my husband and he didn't even do anything. I would ask questions trying to "find out" what he could possibly be doing and he would of course get irritated with me. Now there was no peace in my home as a result of somebody else planting seeds of doubt in my mind. Thank you for sharing! Very helpful.

Guarding your heart means guarding literally all of your "gates" - because our gates control how our heart (mind) processes things. We have to guard our eyes, ears, etc and learn how to discern what's HIS truth and what isn't.
