Your setup is wonderful. It is fairly complex, but perfect for a longer stay. I would not want to have to tear this down and set it up every day or even every week, but to stay a month or more in one place and have all the comforts of home is fantastic. Well done!
Very nicely done! I like how you can transport the canoe inside. We also have a CTC and love it. i just installed ladder racks for solar panels, attaching an awning and to hopefully carry some kayaks. Always a work in progress!!
Nice hack on the flood light. I have one sitting on the shelf I do that to. A lot of great features in your trailer so thanks for sharing. Side note. On the bedside cubbies, have you considered putting a radius on the dividers so you don’t have a sharp corner?
I thought about the radius concept in the past, but thankfully it’s never ‘caught’ me yet. I kinda just threw it together with odd bits! Thank you for the interest.
Thanks for that video, I have a Tacoma and am thinking about an enclosed trailer. I was torn between the 6*12 or the 7*14. I thought that the 7*14 might just be a little to big for the Tacoma, but it seems to be working for you. If you have any insight that would be great
I wanted to try a second build …of a 6x12- wife would not allow it. Lol. For me I needed the 14’ long trailer for ultralight canoes that I sell. But with a weight distributing hitch, it felt perfect. I now have an EPro19fd travel trailer. It’s slightly longer, the same width box, but the wheels are more tucked in. It tows great as well. Weight distributing hitch is important because of the cushiness of the truck. Had no prob pulling the weight. I took the 7x14 into quite primitive camping off road. It was 2 hrs to get to the campsite on dirt ‘roads’, but did fine.
@@ultralightpaddling1200 Thanks for the response. I am just a little concerned about the width, being wider than the truck. It seems that it might be a little awkward, but it seems to work just fine

Nice build, has all you need and then some. Not familiar with a regular gas generator vs your generac inverter. What model is your inverter and how does it differ from a regular gas generator? Also, if you don't mind me asking, is your 120v interior panel grounded? If so, how? Thanks for sharing and safe travels.
An inverter generator uses gasoline like a generator, but works on a different electrical production principle, where the engine can produce 110vac at 60hz without having to run full bore at 3600rpm. The engine can run at just over an idle and still produce the right voltage. Granted, the more you demand from the inverter generator, the more the engine kicks in to compensate. An inverter generator will typically run VERY much quieter, making camping neighbors much happier, and it is also better on fuel. In a perfect world the inverter generator, like any generator, would be safer frame grounded... but I don't usually do it.
love it when people say you can tell its pretty quiet. dude its a generator its freaking loud and annoying. i cant wait for solar to keep coming down inprice so we can get rid of all these loud generators. nice setup ty for sharing
I was on top of the inverter and you could still hear me speak in the video. Once I was 30’ away you couldn’t hear it. At least 1/2 that video was shot with that inverter running, but you could not hear it. Where I camp, we are spaced a fair distance apart. I always test it by walking to the next campsite over.... they couldn’t hear the inverter running. That’s why I run an inverter, not a generator. I have 200w solar, and eventually more will go on, but when you camp under thick foliage, there is no sun to soak up. So, you do the best you can. :)
@@ultralightpaddling1200 Patience is a virtue when replying to the unknowing and uninformed. Those inverter power sources are substantially quieter than a standard generator. I have had quite a bit of experience with an assortment of generators from small 3300w/3500w Generacs (which are actually fairly quiet) to commercial style 8000w/12000w Generacs (which I personally use when the power goes out at the house and is rather "loud") to Army diesel 10k/20k generators with sound suppression enclosures that you can stand 5' away from and have a normal volume level conversation. When I am ready to hit the woods with my 7x16 converted it will be with a couple of Generac inverters as my much needed window 8000BTU AC unit only draws 760w when running thru its cycle. Plus a few other amenities. Your build looks good. I am setting mine up to also haul an 8x8 Argo.

@@scottgorman7166 interestingly, I find that 55-60 was the sweet spot for mileage. I also have a 20’ Epro 19FD travel trailer. I actually get better gas mileage with that, though it weighs more- 13 mpg. If I stick to secondary roads and not the superslab I get better mpg, just takes more time.

I probably spent $3k in stuff, including a weight distributing hitch. But really, you can start simply with $1500 and go from there.
