I went on Symphony back in November, and was so looking forward to seeing Hairspray... Mainly for this performance of I know where I've been. Well hoping this song was in the show, and so happy it was. The singer/actor playing Motormouth gave me chills through my whole body.....
I loved Penny & Purdy's hug & I loved Tracy & Link's kiss & how Link dipped Tracy like in other Hairspray videos! Plus, this girl playing Tracy really looks & sounds like the original Tracy Turnblad, Marissa Jaret Winokur!
This has to be the BEST production of Hairspray I have ever seen and considering it’s on a CRUISE SHIPP 😵👏👏👏 amazing quality, amazing sets and VERY TIGHT, WELL MIXED band and vocals! 10/10 for me
I'm glad you got a recording of this! The cruise show was the first stage version I saw of Hairspray, and "I Know Where I've Been" blew me away. When I watched Hairspray Live later (with Jennifer Hudson), I was expecting the same production for that number but was disappointed when the footage of the civil rights movement wasn't in it at all. It seems like the cruise version is the only one that includes it, not even the original broadway show.
Saw this on my January 2023 cruise on Symphony of the seas. Broadway ticket worthy. Cried at parts and so enjoyed the show. Wish I went twice to see. There was a technical problem during my show. But they started at the top of the act. It was during the dress shop scene when she gets the sponsorship. But otherwise a fantastic show.
Xavi MT, great job posting this. As to the show... A huge investment into a soap opera for housewives. No hits, trivial plot, generic choreography, generic grimacing, dead boring. Unfortunately this soap will be the major show on our upcoming cruise on the Symphony. Just my opinion...
Not really. She was on it the entire show. She’s onstage almost the entire show and this is the literal ending. But i mean I’m sure you’ve got your BFA in music theatre and booking lead roles on Broadway right?! Would love to come support your live theatre when it’s safe to do so. Let us see how it’s really done, okay.
Holy crap!! This Motormouth is phenomenal! Like that's the best version of "I Know Where I e been" that I've ever heard. Incredible!

The motormouth singer literally got me tearing up at the end, such a beautiful voice and it fits perfectly with the song
Motormouth was so good. I loved the usage of black and white lighting on the actors faces, corresponding with the tvs.
Beautiful ik!!!
Lol what? Black light isn’t..... nevermind

Not even fair I want to go on a cruise and watch this I'd go to every show
My god, motormouths last note at 5:08 sends shivers through my body every single time. INSANE talent! Jesus Christ, mind blowing!

My god this production is better than the broadway production. Wow!!!!
Ikr...
I mean I would agree with you if it wasn't a condensed version of the show
I guess
@@darreylhenderson702 they are doing the Las Vegas version of the show
That’s an exaggeration lol 😂
And THANK YOU sooo much for posting all of this awesome footage!!!

Move over Jennifer Hudson, sit back, & watch how it is done!
Jennifer couldn’t sing like that even if she tried. She just yells.
