Hi, thanks for this! Yes, it was thru Lindsay/sey that I saw these, along with the watercolor version. Then they were like $15. I bought both, not planning to keep one in their box since I needed a hinged lid for another project 😂😂😂. They are both so nice (the pencils, lol) that I’ll keep my eye out for a different box for my project. The pencils and chart not being in the correct order was frustrating but then I looked at it like an enjoyable little project…how Zen 😂. I’m looking forward to using both versions in the future. 🌺
I rearranged the pencils in a new order also. I made a new chart also. Good way to get to know the names and colors. I only bought the watercolor ones and really like them!
Thank you for this excellent review. I am very envious of the price you paid. I also bought mine because of the review by Lindsey the Frugal Crafter and mine cost £57.74 here in Amazon UK - that’s 73.33 dollars at todays exchange rate. Well I paid a fortune for my Holbeins, Caran d’Ache luminance and Pablos, for Polychromous and for the incredibly expensive over here Prismacolours (no trade agreement with USA so taxes and duty are high!). I reckoned I could just afford them if they were that good. Not only that but they took almost a fortnight to arrive. I was so excited when they did arrive yesterday. Spent ages swatching them and sorting their order, (the colour order is actually listed in the accompanying leaflet but only found that after I’d typed them up myself.) I wasn’t impressed that the pencil numbered that should have been Sky blue was actually labelled as a (second) Castleton green. A few were slightly chipped but that wasn’t a surprise given the first news of their arrival was a ‘thump’ as the courier hurled them on my tiled front patio. I like the tin, I like the hinged lid, I liked they were so well packed (just as well!). Last night I went to bed loving them. This morning I started to use them. Oh dear. I love soft pencils and these are soft - until you try to blend. Then they became hard work. I couldn’t get the effects I wanted at all, and ended up switching to my Evazar They are also made in China. It’s becoming pretty obvious to me that nearly all of these budget pencils are made in the same factory, who make Arteza (not a guess, it’s on their website), Brutfuner, and probably Evazar, Castle Art etc etc as well. I just had a set of Bajotien arrive - which inside were labelled Brutfuner - and now on Amazon if I click on my order link on my invoice to reorder they have changed name again (Hiforny?). Are these also from the same factory? The jury is still out. As a budget pencil I can see the appeal. Are they like my Prismas? - no, and I’m not keen on the colour selection - not enough lilac and purple for me but the reds are good. At the price I paid, no way. I’m returning them. Update: unfortunately I got Covid, so couldn’t return them in the time window. I downloaded them into a pencil case - a big one with 200 slots - from Amazon, then swatched them slowly. It’s very clear the colours are not exactly the same as my Prismacolours - lime peel for example - the Artxx is slightly deeper green and less yellow; Lavender is very different. - it’s more a muted colour in Artxx , moving towards grey, as opposed to the Prisma one, which has more red in it and is much more vibrant. Lilac again is very similar but is just slightly more pinker than than the Artxx, but they are very close in shade. The other thing with Artxx is the barrel colours - honestly some bear very little resemblance to the actual core. The barrel colour seems more muted. For example, Emerald is a really vibrant green blue - the barrel is a dark green more like a forest green; mulberry has a very dark barrel - similar to the one for aubergine dark purple - yet is a very vibrant (not far off shocking pink) purple pink colour ; the muted beige brown barrel of cadmium orange deep hides a very bright orange, and the dark red barrel of chilli pepper conceals a bright red. I’ve now gone through and typed out all the names, swatched them, cut them into narrow strips - and stuck the results on the barrel of each pencil so I can actually see what colour they really are when I want to use them.
Great video! Loved seeing your entry & pictures of your day's adventure. All the old vehicles were fascinating. You so casually wrote the title backwards my brain exploded. I'd probably screw up the letters writing it forwards. Once again I am in awe.
I did. We had a small doggy crisis because I overreacted about a nasty place on Lucy's tale. Thought it was basal cell carcinoma again. Was not and we now have a wonderful new vet.
Ohhh those pencils 😂 one set had duplicate colors, mine were out of order too. I drew a bird with them it was horrible lol. I gave them to my daughter in law and she loves them, me not so much 😊Fun video 😊
Oh boy, lol. Well at least she loves them. I am interested in trying them out some more. I'd like to do a direct comparison with some of my other pencil brands.
Great video ! I am also camping in California, and going to both Arizona and California right now ! Also sketching ! I am trying to get enough to fill my small Stillman and Birn Delta sketchbook. I might have to just sketch some of them, and paint them with watercolour when I get back home, as I might be running out of time ! 🤣🤣🤣 Happy Sketching ! 😊
Oh wow, how ironic! It would be great to fill a sketchbook, wouldn't it? Yes, your sketch first and paint later is a good plan. I wish I would have done more of that!
I loved this! I enjoyed you taking me away with you and seeing the fabulous sites, I've never been abroad, I don't even own a passport so this was super exciting to me, the pencils looks really nice too and I loved the art journal photo's of your precious memories :D
Hi, Miranda. good to see you back at home! Have you tried using your Prismacolours to cover the wax? From all I've heard, they are very soft, so may be worth a try?
Morning well spent with Miranda and coffee! 🎨 🖌
Aw, thanks, Laura!
i love how your intros are always so upbeat. thank you for a cheerful helpful review :D
Aw, Thanks! ❤️
Safe travels. I love Dorlands so much. I use it for protecting watercolor paintings when they are complete.
Great idea!!

Oh no, I'm so bummed you had to pay so much for them and ended up not liking them. 😢
Great video! Loved seeing your entry & pictures of your day's adventure. All the old vehicles were fascinating. You so casually wrote the title backwards my brain exploded. I'd probably screw up the letters writing it forwards. Once again I am in awe.
Hahaha, I've had a lot of practice doing my letters that way. 😅 Thanks, Beth! Did you get my email?

@@MirandaWatsonArt I’m
Glad she does. I gave her the replacement set too 😊. I used them in the odd orange book too.

Me telling myself that I don’t need more coloured pencils….😂 That pencil roll is very nice!
Right?!
I loved this! I enjoyed you taking me away with you and seeing the fabulous sites, I've never been abroad, I don't even own a passport so this was super exciting to me, the pencils looks really nice too and I loved the art journal photo's of your precious memories :D
I'm so glad it took you away! It's neat seeing other places, even in pictures and videos. Thank you. ❤️
Maybe go over the highly waxed areas lightly with the edge of an xacto to lift the wax?
Good idea. I'll probably try that soon.
Hi, Miranda. good to see you back at home! Have you tried using your Prismacolours to cover the wax? From all I've heard, they are very soft, so may be worth a try?
Not yet! But I'll give it a try.
@@MirandaWatsonArt Hope it works! 😊
Fun video😀 Seems like you had a great trip!
Yes, definitely! Thank you. 😊
If you get the 72ct watercolor pencils and the 72ct colored pencils you get 144 different colors that are well rounded.
Hahaha 😂Lindsey the frugal crafter spends a lot of my money too!
Right?
Melting is not fun. When going through menopause it is even worse. I hope those photos are lightfast.
I hope so, too, but I'm not sure. At least they're in a sketchbook!
