- This video is the make or break point. The car needs to start or I may lose my sanity. Will the 2006 Mini Cooper S R53 project car start? Find out.
Thanks to:
@spuriouspseudo and @ModMINI
Money can't buy the feeling you get when you turn that key and it works. well done for getting stuck in.
Congratulations on getting it running!!
The yellow light at 16:25 indicates low washer fluid, you were right
I hope you continue uploading, I'd love to see it moving again! I learned a lot watching all the process of rebuilding it, and I hope to do the same on my Mini one day
So good. I've never seen a car fight so hard, especially for a first build.
!!!!!! It is running! Nice work. Congratulations. Great for you sticking with it.
I agree whoever designed the cooling system on the R53 should change careers. That thermostat housing set up is a pain in the rear.
Yes, soooo glad it started & it sounds sweet.
Get it all back together, shake the cobwebs out of her ( I. E Commisioning & run in) then get out & enjoy it.
You said at the start it was a learning experience, looks like you have learnt a lot, well mostly patience & tenacity lol.
You know your car inside out. You built the engine & put it in, not many home mechanics can do that, top job well done 👍
Looking forward to seeing you fix the running in issues & getting it track ready 😁
Thanks everyone for all the support! Forgot to say it in the video because I was so stoked it worked but please like and Subscribe! :)
Well done mate. It's been painful I know, but you have some patience there. Can't wait to see it tear up that track. Finished mine now, just going through the long breaking in mileage process.. again, well done.
Congrats friend! made me happy to see you start her up...i had my car apart for a 18 months lol, i know the feeling..I still have a small oil leak even though I changed everything...we must really love our R53's...good job man!
Congrats!! I've been following this since last year when I spun a bearing myself. Pistons and rods finally arriving this week. Great tips from your videos. So happy for you man!
Congrats.. Great to see its back running, look forward to your next adventure with the car..
We learn from trial and error. I can take my W11 now with my eyes closed. Liked the fact you left all the errors in. Congrats and now have fun.
Awesome. I have my block ready to come out because I spun a bearing in cylinder 2. Now my crank in that cylinder lost material due to the bearing failure therefore taking the block out without removing the trans, while there I’ll replace my clutch finally.
I can do a head gasket start to finish in about 2 hours pretty easy. Congrats man I love the videos.
I sent my head in for service (easier) I’ll learn to do the valves myself using your other videos.
The hardest part for me is getting the header lined up you’re right, lol.
FINALLY NICE JOB , very happy for you
You got there, you didn’t give up, we all make silly mistakes, mistakes are there to learn from, end off
Fantastic - very well done!
Hell ha nice job you stuck in there
Gee , why the earmuffs ?!! don't you want to ear the great sound of your engine after all this time !!!!!! Congrat !! you're probably the guy with the more perseverence on the entire net !!!!
Real Mechanics always get a bad rap for tiny things but those little things that can lead to high costly mistakes. What kind of break in oil did you use? synthetic, blend, mineral oil blend? etc?
For the first few drives I used a cheap Quaker State 5w-30 synthetic and then switched to Liquimoly 5W-30 Special Tec LL SAE. Changed it again after the 500 mile break in and that is what I run full time now. amzn.to/3rETUMx
so on the initial start up did you raise and lower the rpms aggressively up to 3k and back to seat the rings? or was that not needed? I heard that was a good way to get the rings to seal better initially@@RegardingAutomobiles
Heya! Sorry just saw I never replied to this. I drove the 500 mile break in by keeping it under 50% throttle and under 4K rpm. @engineeringexplained convinced me that all the other break in ideas of running it super hard are not right.
Hello. What brand is this black intercooler?
got it from ECS. Brand is "Racing Dynamics". www.ecstuning.com/b-racing-dynamics-parts/intercooler-top-mount-for-mini-cooper-s-r53-r52-2002-08-supercharged/137-space-10-space-53-space-100~rd/
@@RegardingAutomobiles Thanks a lot..
got an question. my r53 got overheated and doesnt start, i was doing research and theres a chance my supercharger broke as well. Do you think the supercharger breaks once it overheats/badhead gasket?
Head gasket shouldn’t really break the SC I don’t think. But I guess once the heat starts to build up anything is possible.
