I wonder if people understand the complexity of having to use 4 mallets so effortlessly AND change their position to change chords so quickly and seamlessly
@@starskiffjulianit’s funny you say Burton is harder, because as a high school vibes player who started with Burton in 8th grade and hasn’t touched Steven’s until a few months ago, I find Steven’s much harder and uncomfortable
Played this piece - and Hall of Mirrors - just recently for a percussion ensemble concert, and playing Insomnia for another one soon. It was, is, and will be a delight to play these pieces. Thank you so much, Cody and Benjamin Holmes, for the wonderful music you’ve written.
I think it's the harmony being used and the overall feel, but this reminds me so much of a mix between No Surprises and the new version of True Love Waits by radiohead lol, very cool
Oh wow this it so beautiful, someone told me about this vibraphone solo a while back and now that I’m lessening to it I’ve gotta learn it for my next year percussion solo so I can perfect it! It feels so calm and kinda sad at the same time, so many emotions at once. ❤
Started learning this piece a few months ago but got frustrated with that left hand part and stopped. Just watched this again and inspired to dust this piece back off!
This is so relaxing to listen to! Also, what kind of mallets are you using? I love how they cut through without being too sharp and I've been looking for a pair like this for a while

And in the hardest grip in my opinion too
No more challanging than playing piano, once the grip is pushed to muscle memory.

Only on vibes though, I love Steven’s on marimba because of how much bigger the instrument and gaps between notes are
It’s giving Mario and Luigi dream team! Such nostalgia! I love this piece!
this made my heart melt.........

Of all the instruments I ever wanted to learn, the vibraphone is at the top
do it
You absolutely can do it! It’s a beautiful instrument to learn, and we need more representation
never heard a vibraphone solo that tells as much as a story as this one. absolute perfection. Fantastic work
Ate
Your vibraphone looks so beautiful and so reflective i love it great job

Love radiohead. Wasn't thinking of these specific tunes when writing this, but I do love those songs.
Reminds me of Tifa's Theme from FFVII. Love it
so many emotions here

I love this beautiful piece of music!! Especially the melody at 1:46. I cry every time, you got me, lol!
Love this might possibly give it a try
Absolutely beautiful. Immediately purchased the score. Cannot wait to start practicing it in the coming days. Just in time for the holidays!
Beautiful piece and flawless performance!
Thanks Juan! Hope you are doing well
As a composer who is looking to write for vibes, I may have to add this piece to my study list. This is absolutely beautiful!
Perfect piece for these times. Thanks for posting this beautiful recording 💛
Love this. Might look in to getting this to prepare for my senior recital in a few years 😍
Update: this is the closer of my senior recital in December. I have loved learning every note of this piece!
I had no idea I could hold my breath for 4:38. Thank you for this!
A Big appulause from Japan👏👏
Beautiful:)))
This sounds so nice!!
Beautiful piece!
This is awesome! I want to learn it so badly 😅
I choose it as my solo this year! Thanks for this masterpiece can't wait to play it! Any tips for the learning process?
Awesome - thanks for playing! Go slow, be patient with the left hand part. :)

Thank you! They are Vic Firth Terry Gibbs Mediums - the light blue ones.
Can you do LA noir main theme on the vibraphone?
Got a few other things I need to do first - but I will look at it!
Could anyone tell me which cross grip he's using?
I’m using Burton! Grip doesn’t matter a whole lot. It’s best to use what you are comfortable with IMO. Also can depend on what you are playing.
