Issue with accruing an aircraft is this....
You dont own it and you will be in mercy of some other country for spares.... Transportation of spares from one country to another is risky... Especially from USA and Russia
We already own a metal sheet that looks like an aircraft but it has no engine ... Soo put all money in developing an engine for it

Because you can't successfully operate a fifth gen aircraft in the Indian subcontinent because of humidity... The radar absorbent layer gets oxidized quickly...
If there is no good stealth capability the 5th gen can be shot down using a 4 th gen, 4.5 gen, 4.5 + easily

Agree, presently F35 is being used by inner cotre of US defence allies who would be ready to sign on the dotted lines if US ask them to . Irony is that Whatever U choose you wont get any 5th gen before 2035...regardless if you build it locally or import... In both cases the jet will arrive around 2035, what Indians don't realize that even If they place the import order today it'll take atleast 1decade for 1st batch to arrive due to order book is full or aircraft is still under development (su57), USA never offered F35 yet instead they're only pitching for F21 (F16)
Yes! In such a case, India should go for developing AMCA and placing an order for the Russian SU 57 also. Further, India should go for TOT from Russia for production at our end.
@manikanthan4693 su57 is the same project from which India pulled itself out, its still under development and Russia will never agree on TOT, further some says su57 isn't even full 5th gen like f22 or j20, it maybe a stealth killer but its not fully stealth , only 1 or 2 batchs are operational, not deployed by Russia
@@haseebsab9445 su57 deal is inevitable since it is the only 5th gen jet offered and that has undergone modification for IAF. IAF has recommended 40 changes in it 6 years ago in which the majority have been done.

@@manikanthan4693 Indian engineers don't know what are the problems AMCA will face when it takes to air. They have zero experience in building a 5th gen factor. Remember Lockheed Martin after building F22 found 680 bugs in F35. Both US & Russia are at least 15+ years ahead of India.
AMCA is a joke i mean we can't even build an Engine, and we are expecting HAL can produce 5th gen fighter jets HAL is a joke itself the best way to solve these problems are including private sectors like TATA and L&T

It's better we concentrate & speed up collaboration with France for Kaveri engine or new engine development for AMCA with SAFRAN. And we should get Rafale or Eurofighter or F21 & speed up TEJAS MK 2 . We will not purchase any 5th gen fighter mark my words, at best we might consider the MRFA deal with rafales until we get a better offer from the french. Other than that dont expect us to buy a 5th gen from outside, govt will go hard on AMCA development.

AMCA along with Tejas Mk2 program should be accelerated by any means and in order to stay relevant in terms of capability, squadron strength and technology IAF has no option but to go for an interim solution be it F35, Su57 or even Rafale.

Is shiv Aroor taking notes from someone regarding the choice of developing indigenous stealth fighter or buying one from Russia/America. His use of words or language is exactly in two different shows on the same topic is almost a cut paste.Hope the decision making body at the apex level in this matter is competent enough to evaluate the ground situation , our R&D and Military manufacturing complex capability, the momentum and the mojo of atmanirbhar theme. In the matters of engine. development Indian R&D agencies have not yet shown a promising marksheet. With a long and complex decision making process in defence procurement bureaucracy , India should take an informed decision considering startegic and tactical compulsions.
Indian timeline are totally absurd for present threat situations and AMCA. AMCA NEEDS TO GO INTO PRODUCTION IN NEXT 5 YEARS. Warlike production and hard timeline need to be leapfrogged with individual accountability.

China can also purchase su 57 from Russia and can learn it's drawbacks. But f35 will instantly give superiority agaist all fighter jet in China and Pakistan
SU 57- Even Russia can’t deny that building materials are sh**y because of the embargo.
F35- Good weapon package and EW suite but the cost of integration will be so high that buying 30 and 100 may cost the same. Also spare parts from USA comes with conditions.
It’s imperative to USA and General electric that AMCA program never comes to fruition, relations with India are becoming good after so many years, they wanna take over Russia in selling weapons to the biggest weapons importer(also take away Russia’s financial support in the process). GE and US factors will try their best to halt or sluggish engine supplies, or torpedo the Indian Engine program, so that production becomes slower for more 5-10 years, and in desperation at the dwindling squadron strength India has to buy something in large numbers. F35 needs buyers, badly, it didn’t live upto the hype, also mass exportation didn’t happen.

Three F-35 jets crashed in last 3 years.
India will not get a single stealth jet whether it is the US or Russian made before Pakistan. And it will definitely come with some strings attached to it. If India starts developing stealth on war footing, it won't be able to fly first prototype before 2030.

India stepped out of the FGFA program because Su57 didn't meet India's need. Now going for it would prove that to be bad decision. Buying it also means US sanctions. On the other hand F35 will come with a long do and don't list. AMCA is half a century away from induction (yes considering the track record that's the likely timeline). By then Pakistan will also have 5th fighters.
Main problem is that whether US would offer F-35 to India?? Bcz India is not a NATO member nor its declared ally like S. Korea and Japan….Further whether IAF would accept terms and conditions of US about when and how to use it…

India should not get into this 5th gen plane race , while it's still flying that "museum gen" Mig 21s because of dwindling fleet.
The best course of action: just buy a decent 4th gen fighter to replace all Migs/Jaguars. 200 Tejas will eventually come. Go for F21. It will encourage the Americans to atleast 'assemble in India' & develop the aerospace ecosystem by bringing both GE & Lockheed Martin.

The US promised so many things and failed to deliver. Our Tejas & AMCA programs have been kneecapped by US delays of promised GE engines. India would be incredibly STUPID to even think of buying F-35 from the US. The Russian equipment may be inferior -- but they at least deliver what they promise.

If offered, the IAF would be foolish not to get at least a few squadrons of F35 to keep a qualitative edge in the region for the next decade+, at least it would take the J20 boot off the throat until AMCA gets ready. Maybe that should evolve into a more sixth gen project first while the F35 gives some leeway.

How can a responsible journalist call the SU-57 a Stealth Fighter? It has a RCS of a football stadium and, at best, is a 4.5 Generation aircraft.

In terms of RCS it's a big improvement over the legacy Flanker design which is probably the least stealthy fighter aircraft in the world, but I suspect it still falls way short of F-35 RCS.
