In case you don't know, the song used during the closedown before the National Anthem is "Wonderful Land" by Mike Oldfield. This song was also used sometimes during continuity announcements of the italian network Rete 4 in the 1980's.
Hi, do you happen to have an interview with a singer Basia from 27th October 1988 (ABC). The interviewer was called Chantelle I think. If yes, can I contact you, please? Thanks.
This was the Melbourne that I once knew and loved here. It almost breaks my heart but within reason why I despise and hate it now so much in post 2022 compared to 1987 but I guess nothing lasts forever especially when it was this good...It's also damning that I once looked up and once loved the ABC once as well because around that time that I once credited them for all their edutainment which really helped me from 1988 onwards where my school started to fail me. But the warning signs via the ABC were there via 1991 when started turning into a leftwing, woke & Commie shill of a channel to what they are now..Heck man, they were even once patriotic and nationalist which made sense because that's how Australia once was before globalism took over?! It's like looking into another world...Damn it time hurts and it makes me very sad to where we now...
I used to watch Australian closedowns way back in 2017, and I still watch it even into the 2020s.

1:41 I love how he pats the gnome on the head
I love it when he puts the milk bottles out in style of the flintstones
TX Date: 27 February 1987, around 1.15am (Source: Sydney Morning Herald 23/02/1987 via Google News Archive; closedown for Thursday 26 February 1987)

Leaving me wondering why folks in Brisbane and Melbourne couldn't watch harness racing.
@richardburkard9839 saying 15 after midnight instead of quarter past midnight just sounds weird
maybe there were no races in those states just nsw and nt
Australia was optimistic then came along Malcolm Turnbull,Abbott and Scomo ruined that! :(
The piece of music sounds familiar.
That soundtrack is "Wonderful Land" by Mike Oldfield 😁👍
What kind of weirdos watches this? Me ;)
