When I was a young lad in the 90s, this place was teeming with people. You could hear music in the air and Christmases there were really fun. We used to go to the cafe downstairs which had the piano bar in it, we bought gifts for our parents from the hippie shop in there and the argos upstairs. Now it's abandoned and empty. The fate of this building pretty much parallels what has happened to this country.

I was a security guard in there and the exchange centre further down in the mid 90s...the place where you got in was a library

Shops over five floors and multi-storey car park closed due to pandemic lockdown; and instead of refurbishment and reopening afterwards, they built a new bunch of shops and a multi-storey car park… not part of a grand plan then?

@@hmnibailcoitatatososwtbtoo7532I probably wouldn’t go now apparently they are doing it up some of my mates went yesterday and got caught and security guard said that it’s being done up they have also put motion detectors everywhere so you will most likely get caught but it’s up to u what if you want to take the risk but I wouldn’t but tbf even if you did and u got caught they will take you out and you can just run or they can call the police and they will most likely take your name and let you go

A shopping centre with CARPET? That just feels wrong, and stupid. Although I guess it could’ve been one big unit for either a non retail space (library community centre, etc) or maybe for some like 80s or 90s department store or something? But it seems way too big to be a single unit. Idk. Also it feel very separate to the main area and far away but then in the same complex. Weird.
That area was most likely offices however the layout is huge and massive
The top floor did use to have a library in it, alongside offices
