Aláàfin Ṣàngó is the royal ancestor of every Aláàfin from the Old Oyo Empire. And Mọgbà Kòṣo are traditionally the closest to Ṣàngó. Every Aláàfin Ọ̀yọ́ must pass through Mọgbà Kòṣo for necessary rites and fortification to secure power before they'd be enthroned.
Mọgbà Kòso plays a crucial role in the Aláàfin royal succession, since he is the custodian of the ancestral crown of Aláàfin Ṣàngó.
In this video, Chief Oyèdèmí Olútúndé Oyèlọ́wọ̀, the Mọgbà Kòṣo of Ọ̀yọ́ and leader of Ṣàngó devotees in Yorùbá land and Ṣàngówálé Ibúowó, Ṣàngó Priest from Ọ̀yọ́, took us through the history of how Mọgbà-Kòṣo became important to the making and enthronement of Aláàfin since the ancient time.
