What if a section stops working? You can hear the solenoid click but doesnt stay on. I have 5 zones in a row that do that. But no faults found in between the last working zone and 1st none working zone
I have a 2-Station decoder for zones 70 and 71. Both zones 70 and 71 have alarms at the timer. I hooked up the ICD-HP to the decoder and it reads “Comm Unsuccessful” could that be a bad decoder????
Yes, most likely. Kinda rare that the icd reads comm unsuccessfull on a good dec so I like to test the solenoids just to be safe as a bad solenoid can come as a dec alarm on the hunter controllers
That usually means you have a fault (nick in the wire coating) and its grounding out. If its straight from clock then just find the fault. If it works up to a certaint point then its in between the last zone that works and the one that doesnt. Best to have a fault finder
Excellent information for someone new to 2 wire. Thanks!
That meter is just for illustration. You need a real milliamp clamp meter like Pro93 or Pro95.
Reminder, some pictured items are only for reference. Manufacturer specs and parts must be followed. (They can not be mixed!)
Good info. Will that Commercial Electric brand meter read down to a few millamps?

@@goku7196 thanks for the info, I'm hoping to get it working again very soon
How much (estimated) to identify the shorted location in 162 zones system?
