    Excellent presentation.
    Although I started (in my early teens) with .22LR at my local indoor rifle club, it was not as satisfying as when I took up full-bore (in my late 20s). As I loved being out in the open air, my favourite shooting was long range up to 1000 yards with my Lee-Enfield No.4 (7.62mm NATO).
    As it was not always possible to use our local army range, it often meant travelling to Bisley to get range time. At other times I was able to enjoy pistol shooting locally (and also at Bisley whilst there) with a S&W .357 Mag and Browning Hi-Power 9mm (which I was able to use in Service Pistol competitions).
    The ban on pistols has only served to deprive honest people of their sporting interests, yet there seems to be more pistols in the hands of criminals than ever, so that worked well!

    • @spankosaurus
      @spankosaurus ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm sure the ban on pistols has prevented any further tragedies like that certain one. That's why pistols were banned. I can guarantee there would have been several other tragedies if not, like how in america one tragedy follows another. I'm very glad about the restrictions, I think UK gun laws are great except you should be able to own any weapon if you have your own range

      @@dominicjohnson8427 fuck your hobby, guns are for killing people they should be heavily and absolutely regulated. Guns create fear and hostility and are an absolutely negative force

    • @faemitchell8678
      @faemitchell8678 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Honestly the ownership of firearms with much less restriction should be allowed. I'm not saying we have public carry rules like the US or anything like that merely the ability to own a firearm without having to find elaborate legal justifications. My justification should be able to simply be 'I belong to a range and want to shoot for fun' OR 'I have enough private land to shoot for fun safely and I want to'(with proof obviously).
      The strict gun control is not stopping criminals from getting their hands on guns. In my local area there has been multiple shootings (urban not rural for context) so these restrictions really only seem to hurt honest hobbyists rather than the actual criminals.
      Granted the quality of weaponry in criminal hands is usually quite low (a common method is to buy a gun classified as antique and make your own rounds which is easily accessible to do so with) but still good enough to be problematic.
      Not to mention our, let's be frank here, tyrannical and corrupt government only installed gun restrictions as a way of stopping public forcing of issues (there was a fiasco with soldiers after ww2 who wanted the political promises of social health and housing to actually happen). So yeah they actually serve the people and I agree with the basic logic of the USA on gun ownership (if they go a bit far)

    Pistols are legally banned in Great Britain, NOT in the UK. In Northern Ireland (Part of the UK) pistols and revolvers are legally allowed on your FAC. Semi-Auto rifles are allowed up to caliber .22 any bigger calibre has to be bolt action, straight pull or muzzle loading. Air rifles also have to be on your FAC in Northern Ireland. Automatic firearms are NOT allowed.

    In Czechia, carry permits for pistols are obtained through a shall-issue process. And one may back up the pistol with a dagger. And there are no specific rules of engagement. Personal protection is a natural right.

    • @hubertusvenator5838
      @hubertusvenator5838 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Bob Saunders The natural rights are not privileges. They proceed from God, not from a state. The state is not God. The misnamed "legal rights", such as the right to vote in political elections, are mere privileges. The privileges are alienable. The genuine rights, the natural rights, are inalienable. The Dunblane massacre was perpetrated by a pederast. But, then again, sexual inversion, statism, and Europeism, were sacrosanct among John Major's anti-Thatcher Tories. Had Thatcher been Prime Minister then, collective hysteria wouldn't have eliminated the right to self-defence in the UK. If the UK's residents were armed, the police wouldn't be beating people who refuse house arrest and wearing muzzles due to the UK's most recent collective hysteria. In Northern Ireland, pistols and permits to carry them are obtainable. In London, two Islamists decapitated a soldier in the middle of a busy street, in broad daylight, right by his barracks. That'll never happen in Northern Ireland. In Northern Ireland, the men have testicular fortitude and weapons. As for America, it's a loony bin with Third World demographics. Czechia doesn't have criminality American style. It has the world's most libertarian cultural attitudes towards weapons. Roughly two thirds of firearm permits are permits to carry pistols. In America, the murders are perpetrated essentially in cities where firearms are unobtainable. New York City, Washington, DC, Chicago etc., have no gun shops and no shooting clubs. What they do have is Negroid ghettos with heroin-dealing gangs. Continental Europe is awash with Britons. They're refugees from their nanny state. Every day, many leased jets land in Prague carrying Britons who come to Czechia on shooting tours. Here, they go to shooting clubs where they enjoy what in their country is forbidden. They can, for example, shoot belt-fed FN machine guns. And they may carry switchblade knives while they're in the country.

    • @hubertusvenator5838
      @hubertusvenator5838 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@BigAlCapwn Criminals don't obey laws. Also, I don't believe that there were pistols two millennia ago. In the UK, it's illegal to carry an object for self-defence. If you think that you can defend yourself from an armed aggression while unarmed, good luck! How would you defend yourself from policemen who aggress unmasked people, or who aggress people who publicly engage in politically incorrect speech? See Luke 22:36-38. Pistols are concealable. They may be carried discretely. They're tools for killing aggressors. There's human garbage born every second. There'll always be the need to kill. See Psalm 101:8. Your argument is puerile. If you reside in a country where government has a monopoly on the public use of lethal force, you're residing in a totalitarian state. Freedom is an individual right.

      Gangs will use especially if its involved in the drug trade but then u have individuals who sell drugs but have firearms for self defence which obviously is illegal too.
      Gangs will use knife first b4 guns as its no noise.
      Only time guns come into play is when they fighting for control or taking a another competition.
      Which is rarely because the knife option is more discreet than a firearms option.
      Individual drug dealers will avoid using firearms even though they have access because knife is discreet but if this person faces an opponent with knife then the firearm will come out.
      Criminals are 2 running a illegal business so they want less heat.
      In uk illegal guns are available especially in the drugs trade as it goes hand in hand but using a gun is another thing.
      Plus i dont know if im right or wrong but i think a knife wound is more dangerous than a gunshot wound if single shot.

    Legally or Lawfully?. Lawfully any gun. Legally, not unless you register it, BIG difference. I was arrested for an 'firearms' offence in 1987. I was fined £50 at a magistrates court and 'asked' to sign a waiver relinquishing ownership which I eventually did. I strung it out to be awkward. They couldn't take my gun because I owned it, but they could enforce the fine (statute law) because it wasn't registered. There is no law that says you can't own a gun but there is a law that says you can. Common law states we have the right to bear arms for self defence, to keep the peace and the defence of the realm. These are the laws which allow the police and the military to carry arms in public, the very same laws they allege do not apply to you.

    Minor correction. The AR is chambered in 5.56, it can fire .223 but a .223 chambered rifle should NOT fire a factory 5.56. The 5.56 casing throat is slightly longer such that a .223 breech might not be able to put a 5.56 round properly into battery, very dangerous. In addition a 5.56 case is thicker than a .223 case since a 5.56 round can be loaded with a pressure 10,000 psi higher than a .223. Again this can be very dangerous putting a 65,000 psi round into a 55,000 psi breech. Re-loaders will short load their 5.56 cases and relieve the head space enough to get the rounds into battery if they are loading 5.56 brass for a .223 rifle. All ARs and most Mini 14s are chambered in 5.56. As always CHECK YOUR BARREL STAMP

    • @UKGuns
      @UKGuns  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not quite. Most ARs are stamped .223. Certainly civilian ones are as its less common for these to be 5.56. Also some will be stamped for both .223 and 5.56. You are right on the throat length however if it were to cause the bolt to be out of battery (which I have not heard of before as the actual exterior lengths of the cases are identical) the rifle would not function, it is designed that way but I have never had this issue. I have fired will over 1500 rounds of 5.56 through this rifle, not one issue. As for the pressures there are lots of articles online that explain the pressure differences and that actually it is negligible in reality. 5.56 ammo is tested by the military differently to civillian organisations such as SAAMI and thus on PAPER pressures look different but in REALITY they are almost identical (5.56 is around 2000psi more which sounds a lot but it really isnt and is well within safety limits) Lucky Gunner wrote a great article on this where they detailed all their findings with evidence. In short shooting 5.56 in a .223 is not ideal for accuracy and reliabillity but it is most certainly NOT dangerous. 👍

      The law does not expressly state that a history of depression would prevent a licencse being issued (see more information here: www.gov.uk/guidance/firearms-licensing-police-guidance) BUT your GP would need to produce a report and the Police would likely also want further evidence (usually from either a second GP or Psychiatrist etc) to verify there is no risk the Police may also ask you to provide other evidence and/or involve other proffesionals and you would likely have to meet the cost of this. In short it depends entirely on the circumstances of any ill health, how recent it has been and what support has been given. As for guns being banned on appearance, no, the most recent ban was on "Lever Release" rifles, which is a rifle that ejects the empty cartridge using the semi auto gas system but then the bolt locks back, a push of the bolt release then loads the next round. These were banned as although they were not technically semi auto they were classified as "rapid firing". I disagree with the ban for many reasons but they were not banned due to their appearance, it was the action/function that was banned.

I have to take issue with you over the .308 Winchester and 7.62 NATO rounds they are not similar but exactly the same cartridge but given as NATO was mainly a European ideology they just had to metricate its nomenclature. With .223" and 5.56 mm I am not so certain as I have never owned a .223"/5.56 mm rifle but I again thought they were exactly the same rounds. I always loaded my own ammunition with the exception of .22"LR and according to my Speer and Lyman reloading books .308" and 7.62 are the same cartridge the only difference with British made 7.62 they have Berdan primers rather than the usual Boxer ones as used in the US and here for commercial ammunition.

    I don't believe that pistols are outright banned in the UK. The limits are extremely tight but, not a total ban. Keepers stalking Red Deer are one of the categories that are allowed to hold a ticket for a handgun.
    It comes under the need to dispatch wounded animals at close range without endangering yourself by using a rifle.

      @UKGuns  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I do say in the video that there are some exceptions. Humane dispatch is one of them, however the pistol must be limited to no more than 2 shots and it can not be used for any other purpose (so you cant ever use it on a range or for any kind of target shooting) you can also get a "regular" pistol on a section 5 licence but again this is for only for a very select few (such as overseas armed security or maritime security) and again it can not be used for any other purpose here in the UK. So for the 99% of shooters, pistols are banned except for Long Barreled Pistols and Muzzle Loading Revolvers

Usually the laws say something cannot be "readily convertible" into the outlawed mode, whether it be semi-auto or full auto.
      Even if it could, you'd run a risk of some significant jail time if you got caught trying to import such parts or with the modded gun afterward. Being an American I was interested in the foreign laws. Not gonna lie multiple laws got me pretty mad. One was needing legal justification for owning. But I guess that is what happens when it's not a birth right under the constitution

    CT has some strict laws too here in the US. And some other states think all guns are illegal or banned here. Not the case. If you aren't a nutcase or a trouble maker it really isnt hard to get a gun even here. I did my safety course passed my background check and had my carry permit a month later. Not that I havent had to be political as I'm sure you do there too but it seems we can even still have better ars than some other worse ban states. I hope the feature and ar bans go away completely here though they are pointless. As they didnt get rid of anything they just got re made into "others" and yet no one gets shot here. The gun community here tends to be more safety conscious than some other parts of country. Shooting is still a big sport even in Connecticut.

      I only ever fired the service weapons in the army.. Gimpy SLR, SMG, Browning, SA80, Glock... Tools of the trade and never felt ownership.. Now belong to a gun club and have real ownership.. Its a bit of a process but once done there is lots of firearms you can own in the UK including things like straight pull AKs. And your doing it as a hobby not as your job.
