I really like this idea as it can be adapted with a few tweaks for sooo many applications. The "marking post" at the top is an interesting aspect. I can also see using a bit bigger stump as a drag.
Great info Todd. I've been doing this with a log and drilling a 1" hole into the ends and adding mice bait and a smaller hole for lure, they work great on fox and yotes.
You talk about surface bedding the trap. Do you just set the trap and sit it there with hay or grass covering it or do you ensure it's solid and doesn't move before covering it?
So on these sets, you're not actually digging a trap bed? You're bedding on the surface? I'm assuming you're anchoring with wolf fangs or something underneath? Or how are you workin that?

You always make great videos! I’ve used a similar technique for years and it works well!!

Do your best to get it fairly solid but rarely it’s very solid like at a diet set
What did you anchor your trap to? Earth anchor? Rebar? Drag?
I like crossed rebar in winter
How do you stable the trap from moving

No trap bed. Just laying on the surface and stabilizing the best I can.
Rebar is my anchor of choice in winter
Ever used it for coyote?
Yes, I have caught coyotes on my line with this set but we have way more fox than coyote.
