Even tho i prefer the person i am now than my old self, i still miss the old times. Back when almost no one suffered from depression, people weren't overly sensitive and problematized everything, things like art and music felt more alive, now everything looks so superficial... As we get more and more aware of injustice and problems the world gradually becomes more gray.
i remember the first time I listened to this song, it was during the summer holidays and my cousin had come to visit. He played this song and I couldn't stop replaying their music video. My cousin and I haven't spoken in years now because he moved farther away but we're still fond of each other, I know that. This song has had such an impact on me.

2013. One hell of a year for me. The year I moved across the country. In a state I didn’t know and around ppl who didn’t want to associate with me. Little 11 year old me stuck it out tho. Where my love for band started, especially for percussion. So many good, bad, and ugly memories with this song. Love it nonetheless.
I really connect with this song. I remember the day I gathered my courage to talk to my crush. We were classmates. We both were quiet in class. So I reached out to her at insta. We talked for a whole night about us, what we like and all those things. She was a huge fan of OneRepublic. Time passes by and we didn't know that it was 4 in the morning. We talked all night. Then we had to attend our classes so I asked her out for a walk. Our classes were at 6 am in the morning but to spend some quality time together we met at 4:30 am, one and a half hours ago. We walked listening to this (counting stars) in my mobile where one end of earphones was in mine ear and another one was with her. We used to talk a lot but when we met, words didn't come out of our mouths. Every time we used to walk silently listening to this song. Suddenly everything changed, she moved out of college and we hardly used to talk after she moved out. Both of our feelings were kept unsaid. If everything had gone well then she and I would have done same as in thumbnail while it rained out here. Today is feb14 and I'm recalling all those moments with her.

Lyrics:
Lately, I've been, I've been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby, I've been, I've been praying hard
Said, "No more counting dollars, we'll be counting stars"
Yeah, we'll be counting stars
I see this life, like a swinging vine
Swing my heart across the line
And in my face is flashing signs
Seek it out and ye shall find
Old, but I'm not that old
Young, but I'm not that bold
And I don't think the world is sold
On just doing what we're told
I feel something so right
Doing the wrong thing
And I feel something so wrong
Doing the right thing
I couldn't lie, couldn't lie, couldn't lie
Everything that kills me makes me feel alive
Lately, I've been, I've been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be

But baby, I've been, I've been praying hard
Said, "No more counting dollars, we'll be, we'll be counting stars"
Yeah, yeah
I feel your love, and I feel it burn
Down this river, every turn
Hope is our four-letter word
Make that money, watch it burn
Old, but I'm not that old
Young, but I'm not that bold
And I don't think the world is sold
On just doing what we're told
And I feel something so wrong
Doing the right thing

Everything that drowns me makes me wanna fly
