I made my first sugar wax after watching a number of your videos and haven't shaved since. My hair finer and easier to sugar now and it takes me less time. for me the legs sometimes appear to look like “blackheads” from a distance but when i get close up, notice that the hair is trapped under the skin. for me though the surrounding skin of the pores are whats discolored also. so annoying 😅
I actually tried making my own sugar once. It went super well! … then I tried again, and I just couldn’t make it with the right consistency 😭 But I recently tried strip sugaring and it’s sooo much easier to get the consistency some what right when cooking it
Thank u so much for giving such useful tip for sugaring...I have tried sugaring after watching your videos and believe me u made my life super comfortable. I'm using firm sugar for bikini area and underarms especially in summer and it's sooooo easy to handle it in warm and damp weather... thanks again Abetween u made my life easy.lots of love💕💕💕💕
I literally made candy to wax with… it is definitely on the list of most painful stuff I’ve done so far and I started bleeding, yikes I’ll try the tip with mixing two cooking stages together because my sugar goes from not even a strip sugar to candy in less than a second (I’ve tried to make it right a few times) thank you this is making me try again (and the fact that my mom and I accidentally bought 30kg of sugar and we don’t have anything else to do with it, lol)
bleeding is normal with waxing. Sounds like your sugar is just overcooked, so cooking it to firm stage will remedy the hardness/stiffening rather than making two batches to mix. Heres a step by step that shows how to test the readiness th-cam.com/video/3qOzDFUPoFE/w-d-xo.html
I tried sugaring with Sugar Dohs premade wax! I wanted to see if it was something I can realistically do before committing to attempting to make my own. I didn't think about how the changing weather would change the wax until halfway, definitely turning the fan on next time.
Thank you for this! I sugared my legs yesterday and while they feel AMAZING they look beat the hell up, my thighs especially. I'll be much more careful next time.
I overcooked my sugarwax so hard yesterday, like it was almost black, but then I tried, like you've told in another video, to try giving it a bit more water, and it worked! It's stil a bit hard, but when getting it warmer in my hands, it is actually okay. Thank you! 😂
Im getting ready to try sugaring for the first time so figured i would head to youtube for some pointers before i even try this. Yours is definitely one of the better videos ive seen that is *actually* helpful! Thank you for sharing your knowledge about this! (And wish me luck... I dont know how this is going to go😂)
Oftentimes cold sugar doesn’t want to stick to my skin… I find taffy pulling it a few times to warm it up and then putting some corn starch on my skin to dry up any skin oils making the sugar slide off solves the problem. When the sugar gets too sticky, using some corn starch also helps it release easier + pressing down hard against my skin before doing a *short* flick tends to get it to come off in one piece without stretching or pulling my skin
I bruised bad on one leg and was so confused why and now I understand it’s probably because I wasn’t holding my skin tight ! 🤦🏻♀️….I finally applied for my esthetician license after 3 years and I’m having to relearn a lot so I appreciate your videos !
I think you literally just saved my sanity. I tried for the first time today and used a recipe in my native language to make sure I get it right but apparently I undercooked it a little. Had intended on not using cloth but I will now (btw could I put that in the laundry and use again?) and need to figure out an angle to get the roots as well but at least I now know it's not just me and I've made rather common mistakes and am not a complete failure. So thank you very much for that 💙💚
youre very welcome. yes you can throw them in the laundry, I would just recommend soaking them in a bowl of hot first to get rid of the hair and melt the sugar off.
I have a lot of ingrown hair because of sugaring. I do everything correctly during the procedure, scrub skin frequently, moisturize. But I think it’s just not for everyone
youre right, its not for everyone. if youd like to give it another try though, you may have more success with the addition of chemical exfoliants. scrubs work well once the hair reaches the surface of the skin, but prior to that excess sebum can obstruct the hair’s regrowth, so thats where AHAs and BHAs can help by working within the follicle.
I tried sugaring quite a few times before, but failed. However ever a month and half ago, it was a great success, and was super satisfied with my progress. The thing is, as I tried again today, the sugar ( i prepared a month and a half before) was only sticking to my skin and not to itself ...
if it was usable then, its the same now, it may just have some condensation from sitting in a hot or humid space. Move it somewhere cool and dry, preferably at room temp, and feel free to knead the sugar in your fingers 1-2 times before application to combine that “seperation”.
it does! it probably doesnt appear that way because i maintain control over it. its just a learned skill you get better at the longer u continue to use it.
Guys i tried sugaring for the first time in my kife today and now my pits are bruised and MAJORITY OF THE HAIR DIDN'T EVEN COME OFF😭 im so angry Please dont be me who does these things without doing research first okay 😪
Sokkar, this is the real name of sugar wax, works great for the bikini line: it pulls all the hairs and you don’t mess everything up with sticky chemical wax, just pour some warm water and you’re done ☺️
i only sugar wax my armpits but this time i found the courage to do my legs as well! It takes so much time though, that's why i never feel like doing them. Still learning but i'm happy with the results (also finally figured out what consistency works for me 😅)
thank you for this video! I was wondering if you’d consider making a video on how to get to hard to reach areas on the legs… I’m trying out sugaring my legs for the first time and I’m a little confused as to how to approach those areas. I don’t want to start and then be stuck and end up shaving those areas instead of sugaring. If you can I would really appreciate it!
@@abetweene thank you for linking that! I have watched it before and it is helpful but I forgot to mention I meant how to do legs using the flicking method (so no wax strips). :)
that technique still applies. sugar is always applied against the growth then removed in the same direction of growth, so no matter which method you prefer (flicking or strips) that principle doesnt change. This is the pattern my hair grows in, but it can differ somewhat from person to person.
Girl.... Amica 😱😵🤣🤣🤣🤣 man I tried sugaring and I was badly bruised. I don't think I'm equipped lol I was really hoping for the best tho and the results were good minus the horrible bruises. I had too soft wax and used the strips
Lol, if only arnica worked that well! 😅 Better luck next time, just remember to hold your skin super tight to the point it cant move. If its held tight enough, it wont matter if the sugar works or not. Unless you have an underlying medical concern that would cause bruising nonetheless, holding the skin taut will deter bruises because it prevents the skin from absorbing force when pulling the sugar off (as shown at 1:00 ) If it isnt and the skin is left loose, what happens at 1:03, causes injury and is what makes the blood vessels to rupture.
@@abetweene I think I'm a little impatient about it and was doing bigger swatches then I should have with the strips and I'm pretty sure I wasn't pulling it right enough. The spot that got it the worst was when the strip and the sugaring wax separated and three wax stayed on my skin but pulled up with the strip, it was almost unbearable but I don't know what happened that time.
i experienced yellowish spots one day after sugaring. I don't know if in some parts they were gone but if it was, then I guess it was just the healing process (I have clear and sensitive skin so I don't know)
I have sugar waxed my legs twice, the first time was perfect, but the second time was a disaster now my legs are filled with clogged pores and has the appearence of strawberry legs 😆 I don't wanna stop sugaring tho, I know exfoliation can fix these clogged pores in a second
The first time I tried it it worked perfectly. I used your recipe where you kneaded it . I did try making it again but everytime there were sugar crystals in it and it was soft and sticky. What am I missing?
if they’re still sugar crystals in it, it either wasn’t fully cooked or those crystals are being reintroduced to the mix so try cooking it a bit longer so everything has a chance to melt down and don’t use the same spoon that you used to mix it during the cooking process.
I also got Kp and I'm prone to ingrown hairs. So I tried sugar waxing once got I got tired of getting ingrown hairs. After a week I got a lot of ingrown hairs from sugar waxing and it got itchy too,but I'm not gonna give up even though it sugaring hurts😂
Hi Abetweene these are some Issues I ran into 1. My hands sweat and my gloves ripped 2. I stored it in the fridge 3. It wasn’t sticking to my skin. 4. The consistency seemed fine but the temperature was too hot in the room and plus body heat 😩😩😩😩
Hi 👋 ✋👋 1. Use an applicator instead (wax spatula, old card, etc) 2. Store at room temperature 3. If its not sticking, It may be overcooked or there may just be too much moisture or a barrier on the skin. if your skin is dry & powdered, its likely the sugar thats the problem. 4. how is the sugar behaving? whats the consistency? too melty or too solid/firm?
I finally got kinda right. Seemed hard enough and worked for a few stokes but then would get to sticky and wouldn't pull. I also forgot to hold my legs and I'm all bruised up :/.
I made a sugar wax that’s hard-ish. I live in a a super hot and humid country. The wax worked the first time I used it, but has not been lifting from the skin when I’ve tried to use it again. Just keeps sticking to the skin even in the first flick. Skin is moisturized daily and clean. But even after applying powder before using the wax, I struggle to actually flick the wax. I got it right the first time, so what am I doing wrong now? Same jar of wax… stored in the bathroom
@@abetweene The same jar, same sugar, but a different session. And consecutively the next few sessions too. I made this sugar wax last weekend and used it first time on Monday last week, and it worked perfectly. Then used it again on Thursday and it didn’t work; kept sticking back to the skin. Tried again yesterday and it sticks to skin for life. Need to wash it off as it doesn’t flick off.
I advise you as an Egyptian to watch your hair removal videos 💜 Try removing leg hair in the direction of the hair, not the other way around Every week, Arabs use the Moroccan bath routine and exfoliate the body with Moroccan loofah. It is best to use this bath before your hair removal routine for the best result and a smooth body without goose skin. Moisturizing the body with butter or oi 💜🌹
I’ve been using your recipe and technique for over a year. I’ll never go back to shaving. But last time I was distracted and didn’t hold my shin area at all… 😒 yea…. My shin area Definitely resembled a paintball gun fight at close range, and I lost lol
Hello! Out of curiosity sake's, what might happen to the skin, if I applied the wax at the direction of the hair growth instead of the opposite? Planning on doing my first sugaring at home and your videos have been really helpful and informative!
I usually use thin layers with cloth wax strips i made from cutting a shirt. Works great except my thicker hair on my labia. Its like it wont come out. Which technique do you reccomend for thick hair? Strips or just the wax?
Hi @abetweene, thanks to your videos I am getting the hang of sugar waxing. I am so grateful. However, how can I prevent the paste from swinging up behind my fingers and getting stuck?
practice. i kno its annoying, but honestly the more u do these hand gestures the more comfortable you become in knowing how hard to go. Its likely happening because youre using a lot of power when flicking. descreasing how much force youre using will help, but consistency will help you gauge exactly how much strength to use that works for u.
I got strawberry legs from sugar waxing, and I never get strawberry legs from shaving. And I feel like the sugar was way too sticky. But I don't know how to get it less sticky.
My problem was cooking the sugar right. I made 3 different batches over several weeks, and no matter how long I overcooked it, it was STILL too soft to yank, the second I touched it. I tried cooking it to the EXACT temperature recommended (252 F), and it was _runny._ So I tried putting it back on and cooking it again and again until it had the consistency of honey when it cooled (which is what everyone says it should be like). I cooked it so firm, I would have to dig it out with a SPOON after it had been in the fridge, and then as soon as I tried manipulating it with my fingers, it went so soft it was like I smeared actual honey on my leg. Could not flick it off for anything. And I DID have AC on. Anyone have any solutions for that?
with the heat and humidity + your body temp it sounds like it softens your sugar a lot which is totally normal. its usually counteracted by starting with a “hard” sugar paste but it sounds like youve already done that, so if its still very unmanageable perhaps using a wax spatula or wax strips with your sugar would be a better application & removal process for you.
I went to Esthetics school and even though I know how to professionally wax, I’m not 100% familiar with sugar waxing and making my own I’m kinda scared lmao
I tried making it but both times it was very hard that i could not even pick it up so i had to discard it and the second time i added water to it then it kind of became darker like it got burnt and now I'm even scared to try making it again :(
Hey I wanted to ask one thing. I have been struggling with strawberry legs for quite a while . I used 10% urea lotion for 4 months and salicylic acid twice a week and an exfoliating glove once a week. The strawberry legs have gotten alottt better (almost 80%). So I was thinking to start the sugaring method. I wax already but I use Rica roll ons (which are not as helpful). Sugaring softenes the hair so that’s why I want to do it. But there are two ways the opposite direction sugaring and the in direction sugaring (strip one). I personally think as a person prone to strawberry legs I should do strip one cause it’s in the direction of the growth and is pulled opposite. So with your experience can you recommend me and can you clear me out about the other method too? Would appreciate
of course everyone is welcome to do what they want, but i highly recommend always applying against growth and pulling in the same direction of growth both with the flicking method and with strips.

Hi I tried making the sugar wax yesterday and I let it cool for about 24 hours but I’m pretty sure I over cooked it because it’s difficult to scoop it, am I able to fix it by just putting it in microwave to make it softer?
yes, you’ll just need to add a little water to soften it. heat alone is only a temporary fix and can make the issue worse by extending cooking further. also be sure to use a tall heat safe container and microwave in 30 or 45 second increments only or else itlll spill over
Yday i tried sugar waxing, and before i watched a lot this kind of guidances i am sure i did right ( i hope) BUT tday when i checked i have kindda acnees, idk it is acne or not but am sure it is not ingrown hairs, i don't know what to do
I just sugared my legs and got hella bruising xD. But this is the first time I've seen someone with legs like mine. I think i also have the keratin thi8ng and it's so annoying cause I just have strawberry legs all the time and dont know how to combat it
3:50 omg it is my problem and it makes sense. Thank you so much and i wanna try it immediatelly (i really like the idea of using wax instead of cloth) And how can i fix the wax? Does it cool down as time goes by?
if youre sugar is undercooked/too soft u can reheat it to continue cooking. thatll boil off the excess liquid thats making it too soft. when u say cool down as time goes by, what are u referring to?
no worries, just wanted to make sure i answer your question accurately. Yes, as it cools down it solidifies. the more concentrated, the firmer it will be.

Thank u so much for giving such useful tip for sugaring...I have tried sugaring after watching your videos and believe me u made my life super comfortable. I'm using firm sugar for bikini area and underarms especially in summer and it's sooooo easy to handle it in warm and damp weather... thanks again Abetween u made my life easy.lots of love💕💕💕💕
my pleasure 💕
haha heard the "amica cream" reference and jumped to check the release date of this video 😂
Amazing timing! I was just rewatching some of your older videos for this info! 🙌🙌
glad it helped 😊
I was amazed at how this did not hurt! I did make a huge mess but it didn't hurt at all!
I'll be much more careful next time.
yw!
The animations! Big fan of your aesthetic 🥰
You are so skilled at teaching!
thats so nice of u to say, thank u 😊
Yesterday I did sugaring with strips, and today i realized that I wasn’t holding the skin taught enough cause i ended up with getting bruised
I overcooked my sugarwax so hard yesterday, like it was almost black, but then I tried, like you've told in another video, to try giving it a bit more water, and it worked! It's stil a bit hard, but when getting it warmer in my hands, it is actually okay. Thank you! 😂

@@abetweene but then again, lesson learned - don't use cheap laser thermometers, good old fashion always works 😂
lol
Im getting ready to try sugaring for the first time so figured i would head to youtube for some pointers before i even try this. Yours is definitely one of the better videos ive seen that is *actually* helpful! Thank you for sharing your knowledge about this! (And wish me luck... I dont know how this is going to go😂)
glad it helped. lol, good luck!
Sugaring is so painful! I don't think I could ever try it again
just checked out your website. you inspire me so much. thank you
I bruised bad on one leg and was so confused why and now I understand it’s probably because I wasn’t holding my skin tight !
@@abetweene thank you so much

I tried sugaring quite a few times before, but failed. However ever a month and half ago, it was a great success, and was super satisfied with my progress.
The thing is, as I tried again today, the sugar ( i prepared a month and a half before) was only sticking to my skin and not to itself ...
if it was usable then, its the same now, it may just have some condensation from sitting in a hot or humid space. Move it somewhere cool and dry, preferably at room temp, and feel free to knead the sugar in your fingers 1-2 times before application to combine that “seperation”.
I’m in awe that your sugar doesn’t stick to your hands!
it does! it probably doesnt appear that way because i maintain control over it. its just a learned skill you get better at the longer u continue to use it.
today I used your remedy ..it's really helpful lots of thnx and love from Pakistan... God bless u
glad it helped!
Guys i tried sugaring for the first time in my kife today and now my pits are bruised and MAJORITY OF THE HAIR DIDN'T EVEN COME OFF😭 im so angry

Sokkar, this is the real name of sugar wax, works great for the bikini line: it pulls all the hairs and you don’t mess everything up with sticky chemical wax, just pour some warm water and you’re done ☺️
the amica cream reference 🤣🤣🤣
The johnny dell trial reference I'm sobbing 😭
You make it look so easy but I struggle with my armpits and pubic area. With the armpits I can’t press the skin so each time I tear and bleed a lot
i only sugar wax my armpits but this time i found the courage to do my legs as well!
If you can I would really appreciate it!
sure, leg or thigh? I go over my lower legs here th-cam.com/video/7e-KFvL6AdM/w-d-xo.html
I find exfoliating right after waxing really helps prevent in grown hairs
waxing in itself is exfoliating, so doing so again immediately after can cause damage to skin thats already endured trauma.
HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! I died at the Amica cream 🤣😂🤣😂
lol
that transition with the stick
I lolled hard with in the 1st 30 secs at taking the piss out of amber heard
Your sugarwax videos are heaven-sent! Thank you x1000!

OMG, this is so cute. Thank you for this #tutorial. Our #estheticians think #sugaring is the safest and the most effective #hairremoval method.
Struggling to sugar wax the back of my calves? Would love to see a how-to video!
here u go! th-cam.com/video/7e-KFvL6AdM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=umYJ5cIO95kURWzP
i experienced yellowish spots one day after sugaring. I don't know if in some parts they were gone but if it was, then I guess it was just the healing process (I have clear and sensitive skin so I don't know)
hmmm, not sure. Yellowing in bruises usually appears in the final stages of healing 🤔
I’m actually a bit surprised that breakage is a thing bcz for my skin sugar waxing was the best was to have it soft and not dry after shaving/waxing
yea, same. Sugar makes my skin the softest its ever been, but results can vary from indiviual to individual. technique is the greatest factor though
woooow… i needed this video some years ago 😅
I have sugar waxed my legs twice, the first time was perfect, but the second time was a disaster now my legs are filled with clogged pores and has the appearence of strawberry legs 😆 I don't wanna stop sugaring tho, I know exfoliation can fix these clogged pores in a second
yes, exfoliation is key
have learned so much from your videos!!
@@abetweene oh thank you soo much. I tried it again and it worked.
great!
Amazing informative video as always. Thank you 🙏🏻
thanks!
Whenever I try pulling in the direction of hair growth it doesn't remove the hair, the sugar strip just comes off clean. :(
is your hair at least a quarter inch or 3/8ths long?
@@abetweene Yes, but it was finer arm hair rather than leg hair.
This voice is so much of meditation for me..
Not the amica cream! 😂😂😂
Hi Abetweene these are some Issues I ran into
1. My hands sweat and my gloves ripped
2. I stored it in the fridge
3. It wasn’t sticking to my skin.
4. The consistency seemed fine but the temperature was too hot in the room and plus body heat
😩😩😩😩
Hi 👋 ✋👋
1. Use an applicator instead (wax spatula, old card, etc)
2. Store at room temperature
When you say again do you mean after one flick, using the same sugar again from a previous session, or fresh sugar from the same batch/jar?
@@abetweene The same jar, same sugar, but a different session. And consecutively the next few sessions too. I made this sugar wax last weekend and used it first time on Monday last week, and it worked perfectly. Then used it again on Thursday and it didn’t work; kept sticking back to the skin. Tried again yesterday and it sticks to skin for life. Need to wash it off as it doesn’t flick off.
I tried sugar wax TODAY, all I can say is NEVER AGAIN 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
😂
This was an awesome video. Tysm. I just found your channel!
aww thanks! 💕
I advise you as an Egyptian to watch your hair removal videos 💜
Try removing leg hair in the direction of the hair, not the other way around
Every week, Arabs use the Moroccan bath routine and exfoliate the body with Moroccan loofah. It is best to use this bath before your hair removal routine for the best result and a smooth body without goose skin.
Moisturizing the body with butter or oi 💜🌹
I am removing hair in the direction of growth.

Not the AMICA cream ✋😭
😏
Whats the measurements again???
1cup of sugar, white / brown
1/4 cup or 1/2 water and lemon juice?
2:1 ratio sugar to liquid. So your total liquid will be half the amount of sugar, which makes it 1/2 cup lemon juice & water.
I’ve been using your recipe and technique for over a year. I’ll never go back to shaving. But last time I was distracted and didn’t hold my shin area at all… 😒 yea…. My shin area Definitely resembled a paintball gun fight at close range, and I lost lol
oh no 😮 glad its going well nonetheless 💕
Hello! Out of curiosity sake's, what might happen to the skin, if I applied the wax at the direction of the hair growth instead of the opposite? Planning on doing my first sugaring at home and your videos have been really helpful and informative!
you may experience more breakage rather than remove the entire strand from the follicle
@@abetweene Thank you so much, I'll be keeping this in mind!
yw!
But I don't know how to get it less sticky.
strawberry legs is a skin condition and isnt caused by removal…what u may have are ingrowns or stubble thats more apparent regrowth
@@abetweene why thank you! I didn’t expect a reply! That’s very kind of you
of course! let me know if that works out
I went to Esthetics school and even though I know how to professionally wax, I’m not 100% familiar with sugar waxing and making my own I’m kinda scared lmao
dont be, its not easy but it is rewarding once u nail it
You are so smart!
@@abetweene really? that’s new I’ve heard people say in the direction more but interesting I’ll do that then trusting you on your experience!

Hi I tried making the sugar wax yesterday and I let it cool for about 24 hours but I’m pretty sure I over cooked it because it’s difficult to scoop it, am I able to fix it by just putting it in microwave to make it softer?
yes, you’ll just need to add a little water to soften it. heat alone is only a temporary fix and can make the issue worse by extending cooking further. also be sure to use a tall heat safe container and microwave in 30 or 45 second increments only or else itlll spill over
Yday i tried sugar waxing, and before i watched a lot this kind of guidances i am sure i did right ( i hope) BUT tday when i checked i have kindda acnees, idk it is acne or not but am sure it is not ingrown hairs, i don't know what to do
if theyre whiteheads, its likely folliculitis. u can use witch hazel daily to help clear it up.
Okay so I pulled the sugar wax in the direction opposite to the direction of hair growth. Will this make my hair grow back denser or something ??
Its ok. It may not affect you, it just increases the chance of breakage so worse case scenario youd get stubble sooner (and possibly more irritaion)
Can you please tell me, what should I do to remove my facial hair?

Idk how long am I supposed to wait after cooking the sugar to use? It's so hot but then it gets hard as a rock
give it 1-3 hours or even better make it the night before so it can just cool overnight.
3:50 omg it is my problem and it makes sense. Thank you so much and i wanna try it immediatelly (i really like the idea of using wax instead of cloth)
And how can i fix the wax? Does it cool down as time goes by?
if youre sugar is undercooked/too soft u can reheat it to continue cooking. thatll boil off the excess liquid thats making it too soft. when u say cool down as time goes by, what are u referring to?
@@abetweene i meant "to solidify". İm from Türkiye English is not my native language 😂. İ send my love
