Glad to see you progressing on your journey, on the trail and in life. Beautiful country and the archaeological ruins you showed are fascinating!! Pretty scary crossing that river! Stay dry and warm.

456 miles and quite the adventure so far. It's interesting to see how the AZT is different in so many ways than the PCT. And who would have thought it would be so cold in Arizona! I liked your thoughts and narrative about thru-hiking and how it has changed your life. Thanks again for sharing it all--your hike and yourself.

Hey April! Yes I never would have thought it would be so cold here. I consider us lucky though. Intense heat would be far, far worse. Thanks for commenting and I’ll be posting a new video in a couple days.

Loving the videos. I posted the following on your day 2 video, but place it here just in case you don't check older comments.
"If I could give you any gift as a thru hiker, it would be that thru hiking isn't meant to be a panacea for what troubles you as a human. It's not an escape that is meant to continue when not on trail.
Thru hiking is an experience that simplifies the world around us so we can witness what is happening in our daily lives, but without all the external noise covering up the lessons.
We get to tackle life's challenges inside a little microcosm and learn how to control the basic tenets of being a human. We get to learn that our mind is this noisy imposter that fights stillness and peace at all costs. It injects its noisy chatter in all aspects of our experience until we can learn the secret. That it's just waves on top of the deep ocean of stillness underneath.
The trick is, you have to learn how to find that ocean of stillness on and off trail. Hiking can’t be your only entry point. That's not the intention. Hiking is simply a signpost showing you the way. 🤘🕓"

Thanks for this insight. It’s very true. I may have, in fact, definitely did think initially it was a panacea. Turns out, it isn’t in itself. Sometimes I think my mind was happier with the noise. The silence can be scary at times.
