Hi, thanks for this. I have just finished editing my first book. I now am studying the querying process so I can put my best foot forward. It’s scary to me to be at this stage. I think the whole writing experience has been an interesting and fun accomplishment. I know i will be submitting to your agency and am looking over the agents that will be best suited for my adult thriller. I hope to be able to use the steps you outlined here. I am anxious to start my next book as it’s been driving me crazy. Thank you for your many helpful videos!
As always Jessica and James present the smallest of details that are often overlooked with hidden activities that an author rarely gets to see. Thank you again for offering us insights into this industry to help us reach our own goals. I am in awe of both of you.
These videos are incredible. More importantly, the agents seems so approachable, professional, knowledgable and clearly have a great working relationship. You guys paint your agency in such a great light. Wish we had something similar in uk from a uk agency
Unrelated, what are the chances of getting a positive response to a query for a 149k debut manuscript? I know that's well outside industry standard; is it simply less likely to receive a request for a partial or a full, but still worth trying, or is it so unlikely as to not be worth trying at all?
The last point you guys made seems different than the previous ones: a new editor is not going to have the same fire power (or clout at an acquisition meeting), right? Probably even smaller budget

This is what I really wanted to understand. The publishing houses are a big mystery to me. Thanks!

Yeah, sounds good, but how do you know you have an agent that on top of it?
Where can you get a opinion about your query letter?
Hi James, do children's books agents ever take on a one story deal?
