The walkthrough on setting up DKIM and DMARC is super clear, great job. For entrepreneurs, remember that consistent "From" addresses and domain alignment are key to maintaining sender reputation. Also, regularly pruning your email list can improve deliverability by removing unengaged subscribers.
Well done! I was not able to participate in the live webinar but in watching the replay I found everything I needed was covered, or to be found in the resources you pointed us to. I have a small business with a relatively small list, but you made this make sense for my situation, and you made the transition easy for me. Thank you Jesse and Al!
Thank you guys. I have had so much stress trying to work this one out until I come across this video of yours. Followed your lead and wehey I am done. Also checked it worked as suggested and yep. Thanks again. Really appreciate time you taken out to post record and post this webinar.
You definitely should add DKIM to subdomains. You generally don't need to add DMARC for a subdomain if you already have DMARC set up at the top level of the domain. To add DKIM for a subdomain, do this: Add a CNAME for "aweber_key_a._domainkey.sub.tarashealthyeats.com" (if your subdomain is sub). (And then add the other two CNAMEs as well.) For DMARC, if needed, same deal - instead of _dmarc.tarashealthyeats.com, it'd be _dmarc.sub.tarashealthyeats.com. I hope that's enough to point you in the right direction -- be sure to test and review email headers along the way!
I have purchased my hosting with Bluehost and my domain through Godaddy - Do i place both the DKIM and DMARC records in my BlueHost? or do i place DKIM in Bluehost and DMARC into GoDaddy? Thanks
You'll do both in the same place, most likely. Which, Bluehost or Godaddy? Depends on how your domain is configured - which one of them hosts DNS for your domain. Look up the "NS" (nameserver) records for your domain. If you see Bluehost, that's where you'll make updates. If you see "DomainControl", then Godaddy is where you'll do updates. Here's a tool that would allow you to look up that NS record setting for your domain: www.wombatmail.com/dns.cgi?t=ns&d=
Hi, Thanks for this. I do have a question... I have my DKIM, DMARC and SPF records created on my server, which is different from my registrar and obviously, different from Aweber as well. Do I need to create these records in all 3 places? Or since they've been created already in my hosting provider, would that be enough?
You would add or updates those records wherever your DNS is hosted, and that place only. So if your DNS is hosted by your hosting provider, that's the only place to update it. Not sure? Use online tools like the DMARCian DMARC lookup tool and other online testers to make sure that they can see the necessary records and send test emails to confirm that everything is authenticating properly.
@@aliverson thank you! I followed your instructions, and sent test emails. I got all three records as PASS as you showed by looking at the original message. Thanks again for the detailed vid!!
Short answer, yes. It's getting less and less safe to use any domain in your from address, if you don't own that domain. Protonmail, like many other mailbox providers, publishes a DMARC policy meant to discourage use of their domain in your newsletter from address. Poor deliverability will eventually be the result (if not already happening today). Same is true for any mailbox provider, freemail provider, or webmail provider, where they give you a mailbox under their domain name. If you don't own it, don't use it in your newsletter or bulk mail from address.
When I try to do the set up DKIM using the auto button, it reroutes me to Cloudflare, but my domain is through Google. How can I get this corrected so I can be properly set up?
I got my domain and I am not saying this is not a good tutorial, BUT it was no where as easy for me, when I clicked on certain things it just did not look the same as what he was showing, I am completely lost...

How long does the CNAME for the DKIM take to propagate? Its been 30 minutes and it's still on red in Aweber
Can we link this video to our blog/website?
Excellent training
Yes you can. Thanks.

Does the 2024 DMARC mandate applies globally or only for USA?
Globally.

I am still a little confused with DKIM, Host gator help did what ever needed to be done with DKIM for my websites. What about DMARC is that separate?
Is this only valid for Yahoo and G-Mail?
