I don't know that I have ever commented on a review, but I have to here. This review is just sooo weird. It's good and bad points are almost 100% backwards of my experience and everything else I have read. I have these, and have owned the Bose Soundsports, the Samsung IconX, the Sony WF1000x, the Jabra 65t, and even the $50 SoundCore Liberty Lite. So I have a pretty decent basis for comparisons. I don't love these things, but the reasons I don't like them are basically the opposite of the ones he ticked off. I have also had 2 pairs of these (complicated - I broke the first pair) and both pairs exhibited the same characteristics I will list below, so it's not a "mine vs. his" issue: 1. The logo issue is just plain silly - it's literally 0.25 inches square- about the size of a pencil eraser top. Jabra's and Sony's logos are both larger. Bose is twice as big. If he's counting the metal ring as part of the logo, then that's just a mistake - that's a design accent. Like pin striping on a car. You like it or you don't. But it's not part of the B&O logo. 2. These have the least, not the most, lag of any of the truly wireless I tried. In fact, they're kind of known for this if you read other reviews. It's also the primary reason why I kept them. I can play the Nintendo Switch with them without issue. Not true of the Samsungs, Sonys, Jabras, or worst of all, the Bose. 3. They have no problems auto-connecting when you remove them from the case unless they are paired to multiple devices in the room - then you have to choose from the device. Just like Sony, Jabra, and Samsung. Don't remember for the Bose, honestly. 4. They are by far the most comfortable of the ones on my list for long-term wear, especially with the included Complys. This is the other reason I kept them. Highly subjective issue, though, I'll admit. 5. I have never had them not charge in the case, for two reasons. First, they are magnetic and "jump" to the charger when you put them in the case - you can hold them in there with the case open and turn it upside down without them falling out. The Sonys and Jabras don't have a magnet and this problem came up all the time. Second, the lid closes down on the back of the earpiece and presses them down to the charger. If that didn't happen for him I don't know how. 6. On my Iphone 7 Plus, Ipad Pro, and Iphone Xs, the B&O app found the E8s before the bluetooth on the phone found them. 7. Dropouts and stutters were common until the May firmware update. That basically fixed the issue. So that's not a pertinent point anymore. Read a January 2018 review vs. a more current one. 8. His description of the sound signature is totally opposite of my experience and every other review I have seen. Across the board they are recognized to be incredibly detailed, but rolled off a bit too much at the high end, with lots of mid-bass and low end. There's a lot of space and soundstage for a totally wireless IEM. In fact, this is the weak point to me - they're too warm and full with too much bass. He described them as thin and treble-heavy. I would honestly like that. 9. The battery life for me is less than 4 hours, and most reviews confirm that. It's way less than Jabra, Sony, or Samsung. It's the deal-breaker for many. Oh, the app is generally worthless other than the transparency settings. The sound signature change part just muddies up the sound. Don't bother. I'm wondering if the reviewer got a defective pair, or if he had trouble fitting them - he said they were uncomfortable, which is weird.
I find this review very odd too, almost like he's speaking of a completely different pair of headphones. Also for anyone that plans on using these as workout/running headphones, I can let you know that after over half a year of running and mountainbiking in all kinds of weather, they still work flawlessly, so not sure what this sweat complaint is about. They also connect super easily to your apple watch for runners that don't wanna bring their phone.
Hey man, since you got the Jabra Elite 65t and Beoplay E8. Would you recommend the E8 for regular running? I'm having a hard time choosing between these two. I noticed from a lot of reviewers that the sound quality of the E8 is really good, but the downside is it is not meant for working out and does not have any water-proofing. Any suggestions? Thanks @Ricky Earl
I haven't tried the E8s yet but I did have the Jabra Elite 65t Active and I cannot recommend them. The sound quality was good and they fit very snug into your ear, however, there is a hissing issue and connection issues with the left earbud. I had also gotten a replacement and it had the same issues. If you look up the hissing problems for those earbuds, you'll find many people experiencing it without any solutions so far.
Hey, geniuses, they do have an auto-connect function. You just need to tap the R master earbud to switch it on and if you had done previous pairings, it will then proceed to auto-reconnect within seconds. But of course read the manual first to learn what R means.
10 months user of E8 here. Soundstage is adjustable in the App (pinch out to zoom the white EQ ball), to reconnect the earbuds - tap once on the master (right) earbud (no need to go to the bluetooh settings), use other included eartips for maximum comfort, the app runs smoothly on my iphone 7, never had audio/video lags while watching videos.
so they actually autoconnect. they are also sweat-proof as stated on their website under "materials". what kind of half assed job are you doing at soundguys? Why should we trust any video that you do?
I think the large logo on the buds is meant to be a guideline on how to put them in your ears the correct way, i.e. if the logo is horizontal/readable, they should fit nicely.
I have been using these earphones for 6 months every day, and I have not been experiencing reconnectivity issues and other issues mentioned in this review...
Autoconnect works fine for me, just turn on the master when you remove it from the charging case. No delay in sound from video for me either. For comfort and better sound use the comply foam tips. Maybe you should firmware update via the app.
I have never had problems with auto connection. I've had them for a bit over 2 months now. Take the buds out, put them in your year, tap the right one, and it does its thing right away. And if they don't feel comfortable after a while, try using the comply tips instead.
true there are minor drops on the master (R) and slave (L) earbuds, but it only lasts for less than a second for mine. I find the video delay comment quite odd I usually find the delay on the gaming side (this is for normal sounds but once you turn on the mic and it switches to the call quality the delay would be gone, with a step down on the sound quality of the games though) haven't had delays for videos on youtube/netflix or from camera recorded stuff. agree with the sound quality comments.
based on my own experiences, I don't recommend these...maybe I got a dud pair, but they are the most frustrating piece of tech kit I have ever owned and I've been around quite a while and owned a bit of stuff, but these take the cake....the most annoying thing with mine are that they unpair for no apparent reason and then it takes ages to pair again and even longer to reconnect to a device....my current experience which prompted me to write this was they have unpaired themselves 6 times when I tried to connect to my android phone and I'm still not connected....whenever it tries to connect in unpairs. The useless app says it's connected but it's not. I'm not that fussed on the bluetooth connection either, sometimes I have to carry my Android phone in my hand so I can listen without interruption. I often abandon these for my wired headphones. Any trolls out there wanna tell me it's my fault?
I do agree to almost all the points you mentioned. I have dropouts, I cannot connect it as you mentioned. The design although looks good is very uncomfortable. I probably have gotten used to the Bose ear tips. I wish I could give the purchase back if this was another £100 less then possibly a good purchase because it is still a decent earphone.

I have a question. I am using Freebuds 3 now. I decided to buy b&o e8, but I have some problems. 1) e8 is a bit look big on the ear. 2) while playing games, e8 is not punctual. Help me guys :)
So walking around with toothbrushes in your ears isn’t advertising for Apple..? I’m an Apple sheep and I still hate those ugly white sticks. Also I’ve had E8s for 9 months, go to gyms 5 times a week. No problem at all whatsoever. Finally don’t be cheap and spend some money on Comply foam tips. Those block out surprisingly amount of ambient noise and feel great. Sound is subjective, not to mention most people buying these buds don’t really care that much as long as they don’t sound awful. Finally. These rants are based on my personal POV
I have these 2 years and one month, all of a sudden I’m only getting 7 minutes battery from each charge, warranty ran out one month ago, spent €300, very disappointed, wouldn’t recommend and would never by Bang and Olufsen again.
i bought them because of him and it was a mistake. I don't believe these are worth their price. don't get me wrong, these are not terrible but i wouldn't recommend if 220$ is a lot of money for you.
I'm sad that I didn't watch your review video before buying it. I regret and decide to sell it because the Bluetooth signal is easily distracted and the miss charging the left earphone is annoying me.
I'm a pro athlete and got this for $460 in Australia. For an earbud with no proper sweat proofing, crappy touch control that constantly pauses whenever you wipe the sweat with a towl, I want my money back
Was never able to connect these to my Samsung Note 9 Plus. Reading online this seems prevalent for Note 8 and 9. Had high hopes, but that's a show stopper.
Try pinching a zooming the ball in the Beoplay app to widen the sound stage. I don’t get any video lag on my E8s. The biggest drawback ... the price. Not worth it.
You'd be better off getting the E8 Motions, which have an extra fin to help keep them in your ear and they're water, sweat and dust resistant so they should work for you.
You call yourself SoundGuys and you don't know how Transparency Mode works. It's not advertised as noise-cancelling, it's DESIGNED to let in ambient noise so you can hear what's happening. I'd love it if you could explain to me how the size of the logo is a design flaw. The buds are elegant, and the logo is just the small B&O in the middle. "Earbud to logo ratio" is possibly the dumbest thing I've heard anyone say during a review. I've owned E8s, H9i's, an A9, Off the walls, and we just purchased a Flying Spur with a B&O system instead of the Naim because it just sounded better., although the Naim's are significantly more expensive. The only speakers that could compare to the A9s were the Devialet Phantom, which costs almost twice as much as the A9s. The H9i's are the best headphones I've used, period. The Sony WH1000XM3 has better noise cancellation, but the sound quality is nowhere near as good as the B&O's. The off the walls speak for themselves. There's nothing else like it. Trust me, you just CANNOT get better sound than Bang & Olufsen. If you still doubt that, go to a store and listen to them yourself.
Not even close. I have both. The Zolos are muddy and there's no clarity. The E8s are clear, detailed, and still warm and bassy. See my points about this weird review in my other comment.
Thanks for the helpful review. Video / audio synch issues and lack of USB-C are deal killers. I don't get why cases need to be so bulbous -- especially compared to AirPods Pro, which is much flatter and easier to pocket. I'm a big fan of the B&O sound but this looks like a product to skip over.
Have one and they dont autoconnect. I dont agree with most of the stuff he said, especially branding. What expensive wearable product isnt walkable commercial? So stupid. Few negatives and positives about headphones: Sometimes have a signal lose, specificaly if I turn head to the right. When to left its ok. Could be my phones fault(iphone SE) or hedphones. Some weird stuff hapen when charging case is empty. Headphones dont turn off when you put them in case. It will continue play music in case because there is nothing to turn them off. Case is empty brick then. To disconect I had to do it via phone. Idk if earbuds then turn off automatically. One more weird thing with empty case and battery lose. Left earbud will stop playing. I assume its because empty case and the way earbuds work. I think phone send signal to right earbud then right earbud to left. I assume that because if you sepparate them, left earbud will stop playing. They need to be very close each to other to play, I messured not longer then 25cm. So I kind a assume when case is empty and it doesnt turn them off, right earbud turn itself after being dissconnected(via phone) but not the left earbud. They doesnt fit well. They will fall of. Atleat on my ears. Wont go jogging with them. App sometimes doent recognize them. Had to reinstall it work again. like he sad in review not to many usefull options so wont miss that. On positive sound quality is very good. Sound stage is excellent. They isolate very well and are load enough.
This guy is an Apple fanboy...I have this earphones as well and it does automatically connect to my phone, so it is just an error on your side. Don't make something sound bad, because you don't set the correct settings. And serious, complaining about the "big" B&O....? The sound is also perfect, just don't start moving settings in the equalizer, they are perfect without moving those settings as you obvious have. Man, go look for other reviewers, because this one only says the more known items are the best. Apple especially....As a reviewer this dude/channel is below average...But that shows, since half the like/dislikes are actually DISLIKES....
m8, I'm actually a designer. If you make a product that doesn't always work as intended then it isn't the users fault. I had to reset them like 5 times to get them to work properly. then they started having different volume settings than the phone and had to reset them again like 5 times. i recently changed phone and the same thing happened again. thankfully this time i only had to reset them once to get them to work properly. No one here is a fanboy except you. When you buy this type of earbuds its usually for convenience so you need them to work flawlessly. Let's compare them to something cheaper, if i have to read a manual and watch 10 videos (which i have) to get them to connect to my phone and to the app then Samsung has designed a better pair, because connecting is alot more important than sound quality. I still have them, they still sound better than other earbuds(except the mic), but that's about it and I would trade/change them any time for a samsung or apple pair.
I absolutely dnt agree and with this ye guys committed harakiri in my opinion...i have these since 2.5 yrs now and I’ll say this...they sound heavenly...clear highs, detailed low end and a pleasant mid...battery seems un deteriorated almost...i prefer them over sennys mtw 2 ,bt4.40...b&w p7wireless, audeze isine 10 and blaupunkt too lol...all of which i have in addition to a whole lotta premium audio gear...from studio monitors to floostanders ...i beg your pardon but i must say this review sucks

This review is not fair. My Beoplay beats my Airpods but it is more expensive period. Btw they do auto-connect.

Just got a pair they do not fit sending them back & the sound of them was not to good should have bought them of wish b&o more like b/shit
dang this is a good review, many thanks !
I wish I never buy them broken for the second time bad bad
I absolutely dnt agree and with this ye guys committed harakiri in my opinion...i have these since 2.5 yrs now and I’ll say this...they sound heavenly...clear highs, detailed low end and a pleasant mid...battery seems un deteriorated almost...i prefer them over sennys mtw 2 ,bt4.40...b&w p7wireless, audeze isine 10 and blaupunkt too lol...all of which i have in addition to a whole lotta premium audio gear...from studio monitors to floostanders ...i beg your pardon but i must say this review sucks
