The growth of Curtis has been amazing. I saw a comparison between Jones and peak Wijnaldum and the similarities in what they do for the team were pretty striking. Just as GW's contribution was always a bit underrated, I think CJ's impact will always be a bit underrated. True controllers of space and the overall pace of the game.

So he is the next Gini Wijnaldum like the next Gini Wijnaldum called Gravenberch and he is the next Gerrard too like Szoboszlai 😂 ...How many Gerrard's and Wijnaldum's does a team need ? Why do we hype these players in 5 game patches ? Can't they just be themselves ?

Rightly said mate. He's the attacking Midfielder that peak Wijnaldum putting pressure in mid for attacking chances. And it's true, the midfield is the core and essential of attacking footballs tactics and their mistakes are normally amplified more than most roles, the reason why Wijnaldum was so often overlooked for the chances created by him. Compared to Harvey, Curtis has the spatial awareness for dribbles and holding the balls. His accuracy for passes and shots are nonetheless, near world class. In term of speed, Harvey is slightly faster but he loses the balls more than Curtis.

Curtis is fulfilling the Gini Wijnaldum but with more get forward freedom. He has really developed the Gini ball retention and recycling role while keeping the things that made him a standout in the LFC academy sides: running with the ball, goals and progressive passing. The key for him over the next 2-3 years is to stay injury free and continue to develop his tactical discipline. He can be world class in my view....

Glad to see someone outside of the Liverpool fan base recognising the leap the Jones has made this year, he has some weaknesses in his game which you didn’t discuss, and doesn’t have the best injury record which is all that is holding him back from nailing down that left 8 role but I really hope he does in coming games, and would love to see him in the England squad for the next WC if the Euros come too soon.

Curtis is a VERY underrated player. He’s had injuries and been in and out, but no doubt when he’s in, he gives us something completely different than most other player. He can go left or right with either foot, he can beat a man, is very comfortable in tight spaces, and he can score. He’s maturing into an excellent and reliable player. May not be as glamorous as some other names, but every bit as good and he’s a scouser too 💪🏽
I’d just like to see him start to impose himself a little more and demand the ball, he’s good enough to take the ball and win us a game.
He just needs a song now lads!!!

Yeah he's excellent - he has the dribbling and pass completion but he's doing this often in high pressure scenarios too where his decision making about when to play it safe or move it forward is key and way beyond his years. He's almost like a more central Jack Grealish in that way.

He’s always been a good technical player, able to keep possession and likes a forward run and dribble. Biggest issue was not knowing when to release the ball and often slowed play down. Maybe because we didn’t have conventional strikers before which he was used to at academy level. So he didn’t have as many options. More typical forward line now and maybe he’s developed that aspect of his game. Happy to see him improving and hope he’ll continue to develop into a key player for us. Adds a different dimension from midfield for sure.

Hes actually quite good at retaining possession, in fact we are a better possession side when he's in the team... His problem has always been decision making, sometimes he just does a needless extra dribble, sometimes he takes long to make a pass. He's done a massive job in growing from that, but sometimes you just see that ugly monster still rearing it's head a little bit, he's going to be a cracking player when he manages to completely grow past it

I'm not gunna lie, your comments about him going to the euros is pretty sound. Look eze and Gallagher is better but they do what bellingham do and Jones can give the team a good balance. Do I want trent or jones in cm, I don't know. Because jones and rice could make the midfield solid and let bellers roam.

Curtis Jones is so frustrating I believe like Lauren Jones he has so much potential enough to be the best in the premier league even the world but for some reason goes about on third gear. When he plays with passion like Wednesday he easily jumps levels. Curtis can easily be an elite player. Easily . But the Elite players decide to take the game by the scruff of the neck. They make things happen. At the moment he seems to be playing with the attitude of “Ive arrive. Just keep calm things will happen. While the Elite like Mbappe, De bruyne are like give me the ball I will make things happen. Palmer has got it. Elliott has it . Klopp is even telling him to do it
Come on Curtis ,MAKE THINGS HAPPEN

What would Southgate pick CJ based on performance, stats, ranked against the best in the world, ability, controlling a game... Southgate want players who fit into the squad, never let him down over last 8 yrs, don't rock the boat but most important.. Happy to be on the bench🤣

If you want an impact player to create something. You're not bringing on ward prowse with that squad. Jones is much more of a versatile do a job player, keep thing thicjing player. Especially with the fair in the squad he could be invaluable

Analysis are all wrong what happened was not having Trent on the pitch and allowing dom to play the role he was playing earlier in the year….this allowed the space in the middle of the park for jones to roam.
