    Here is a rough walkaround/explanation of all the modifications that have been done to my VZJ95

    I don't go into a lot of detail, but if you'd like me to expand on certain sections of my build, or want to know where to buy some of the items, let me know in the comments and I can do a follow-up video for you all.

    Hey mate, mint setup on your 90. Just wondering how hard it is to modify the titan drawers to fit the back of 90s? Interested in throwing some in the back of mine.

    • @OzTrax4X4
      @OzTrax4X4  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey bud
      All you need is a set of 900mm long Titan drawers, and a 120 series Prado wing kit.
      You'll need to modify the wings to fit the rear trim.
      You'll also need to trim back the edges of the wheel arch trims between the wheel arches so the drawers fit.
      Then remove all latches and tie down points, replace the bolts for any open holes so you don't fill up with water if you intended on doing any water crossings and make sure to realign the supports in the bottom of the drawers so they match the bolt holes you're going to use.
      Takes a few hours, make sure you have someone to help you pull the drawer frame in and out as it's quite cumbersome.
      Hope that helps 🤙

    • @OzTrax4X4
      @OzTrax4X4  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks mate. She does alright for an old girl.
      Auto over manual. More control when tackling the technical stuff.
      Petrol vs Diesel - tough one.
      I've driven both in an auto, and petrol by far has a heap more power.
      Fuel usage isn't all that different when you work out the cost of petrol vs diesel per litre.
      Either way at some point it may be wise to fit a long range main tank if you're intending to do a lot of long distance remote touring.

    • @OzTrax4X4
      @OzTrax4X4  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi there!
      Good to see another South Australian 🙂
      The most lift you'd want to go for is a 2 inch lift otherwise you put too much stress on your CV joints due to the angle they end up on.
      You have a couple of options depending what you want to get out of your suspension.
      I run Bilstein shocks coupled with 2 inch lifted King Springs.
      My best advice would be is to contact 4WD Direct (Google them and chat to Paul), he will email you out a form that you'll need to fill in all the details about your vehicle for and give you some options for lift.
      Wheels, if you decide to go steel wheels, the dimensions I would recommend are a 16 x 8 -0 offset or 16 x 8 -12 offset at the maximum.
      Tyre size of a 265/75/16.
      Hope that helps 😊

    • @OzTrax4X4
      @OzTrax4X4  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Regarding pricing:
      Approx $1400 for a complete lift kit
      $500 for wheel rims
      Allow $1200-$1300 per set of tyres.
      Fitting of suspension you'll have to find out.
      I'd actually check out Greg's Wheel Alignment Solutions in Regency Park for maybe the suspension instalation/tyre fitment/alignment cost as that can all be done at the one place.

    • @OzTrax4X4
      @OzTrax4X4  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question and one I'm happy to answer. 🙂
      On the vehicle ID plate, it states 90 series, so all Prados from 1996-2002 are a 90 series.
      If you then look at the model variants, the VZJ90 is the 3 door version (short wheel base) while the VZJ/KZJ95 is the 5 door version (long wheel base).
      Im not sure if the 3 door came out in diesel as we never got them here.

      Depends if you're on a budget or not.
      A low km transmission should be fine if it's been regularly serviced, otherwise go all out, overhaul it, and upgrade the valve body to run a torque converter lockup for downhill descent control with the auto seeing as it will already be out of the vehicle, that's not such a bad idea.

    • @OzTrax4X4
      @OzTrax4X4  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jamie
      -22 have the slightest bit of poke past the flares.
      Trying a 285/75/16 on the other day, I was rubbing across the back of the wheel arch around the height of the mudflap (can find that video clip on Instagram), but that may just be an alignment issue.
      I need to replace the lower control arms to completely overhaul the front end and rectify the seized caster bolt I have on the right hand rear side. When I do that, I will take it to a mate who is going to give it a crack and see if we can pull the caster forward some more and clear it.
      Of course, a 16x8 with either a 0 or -13 offset wont rub nearly as much as what im trying to achieve here.
      I've done a few more mods since this video so will have to push out an update while I'm out on the road doing a two week remote trip from the 20th of September and release that one as soon as I get back.

With your setup did you get the BE5 2450M (front) and what about the rear the (BE5 2451M) or (B46 1004LT). How do you find the ride quality and height after compared to factory with the Kings springs? Did you go for a diff drop kit in the front for the lift? Cheers.

      Thanks for checking out that video.🤙
      A lot has changed since I filmed that one and will be filming an update between Christmas and New Year's, so keep an eye out for that one.
      I have since upgraded the suspension, and that will be revealed in the next video, but if you're planning on driving corrugations, I'm going to say don't purchase the Bilsteins as mine blew after a trip across the Simpson Desert and a lot of corrugated roads.
      I'm also going to advise against King Springs as they don't stay captive in the rear under flex.
      I'm not running a diff drop in the front as it's not required for a 2 inch lift either.
      I'm going to reveal all very soon though. 😉

      So, to explain this one, I used to work in the automotive HVAC industry.
      The TX (thermatic expansion) valve bolts to the evaporator.
      That is where the a/c gas changes state from a vapour to a liquid.
      If this valve is stuck open or stuck closed, it causes either a drop or increase in pressure and your a/c system doesn't work properly or at all.
      Hard to explain as I never worked on HVAC systems myself, but I'm sure there are plenty of videos in TH-cam which would explain how it works.

      Get it leak tested first before you regas to make sure it's all sealed properly. 😉
