Me and my 3 adult sons all have been life long riders. I’m 58 started riding as a kid and all 3 of my sons started around age 5. We’ve been through dozens of bikes mostly second hand junkers that I worked on and kept limping along. Now that my boys all work and we have the finances to do so we all have newer nicer bikes. I look at it if you enjoy it and have the money, use it.
Thanks, but I can never bring myself to do that. Haha, now for a complete picture, total your maintenance & repair costs. On a separate line item add in race fees, travel costs (gas, food, hotel, etc), and estimate added maintenance costs for your race hauler vehicle. P.S. Never mind, probably better you don't. Keep up the great work on the channel and enjoy the sport!!
Thanks for sharing. Always interesting to know if people are making money on TH-cam. Good for you! Keep it up and can't wait to see your race recap vids.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to produce high quality videos that are helpful and entertaining! But how in the world are you able to ride so much? In my world there is 1 day out of 7 that we "can" ride, which is Saturday, and normally rain torpedoes most of those. I bought a new bike in March 2024 and only have 7 hours on it!
I'm with you dude I have close to 4k in parts on my new bike and I purchased my last bike for 3k. Everything i have purchased has been performance parts I've almost bought plastics but it barely increases the experience.
Hey I have few questions. 1)How many hours do you ride in two years? 2)Do you do any valves adjust in that two years? 3)how reliable is the Yamaha, do you have to work on it a lot in the two years that you have it? I ride for 10 years and I did on 300 two stroke only, all the fast guy in harescramble ride 4 stroke and the 2025 Yamaha 250 fix call my attention Great content, thanks!
I typically ride 80-100 hours per year. I have had several Yamaha 4 strokes. They are very reliable from my experience. I have had to shim valves a couple of times when the bikes get over 60 hours. Here's a valve shiming video I made: th-cam.com/video/O9_vBAa2hzQ/w-d-xo.html
Once your hobby starts making money then all your bikes become "for the business" haha its great.. Hard for them to argue when you make money from riding.
Great video Donnie! Thanks for the insight. I am close to monetization. I need less than 100 subscribers now. I’ve been curious what it really looks like to be “monetized.” I guess I’ll have to keep my day jobs or start selling feet pics. 😂
Thanks for the shoutout. Now thats not as bad as it sounds if you use mans logic on this. If you take in the fact that a bass boat these days will cost you from $40,000 for a basic to $100,000 for a complete rig. Its simple to see a wife should be happy with a fella having several bikes in the garage. But of course we are only thinking about the wife when we buy a boat too, you need a boat to be able to take the wife fishing for that together time and that time is priceless.
@@Tankerman Thanks for the video idea! Unfortunately I sold my bass boat a few months ago but I haven’t really missed it yet. The wakeboard boats have really messed up the good fishing lakes around here.
Tax write offs lol the bike will be "free" after 5 year depreciation. Make sure you have a good CPA. When you sell the bike you'll only have to pay capital gains tax which is 10% - 15% vs income tax.
@@DirtBikingwithDonnie yeah it happens quick and if you don't understand it you end up writing a $10K check to Uncle Sam... I made 40k from Facebook one year and didn't keep track of everything you can write off.. They make you pay tax on all of it so you get to write off all the stuff you use to make the money..
