Howdy y’all! This was a fun dive, especially because we found a potential backboard for Alex’s basketball project (that was quick!) AND we found a brand new bread maker! We had fun testing it out once we got home. Hope you enjoy this video and see you next time. Movin’ on!
A note on the breadmaker. I saw Alex used active dry yeast. In a breadmaker, instant yeast works better. You can also find yeast for breadmachines, but it is just instant yeast. Your bread will rise better with the instant. Happy baking!
That is so cool to have found that breadmaker I was so lucky my neice found me a Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer with lots of attachments and a flour shield and grinder and shredder all in a box on a curb side for free it works perfectly I was so happy had been saving for one but always had to use the money I saved for something really more important I had bought a dough hook and a paddle in a thrift store in mint condition he have used it several times I'm a happy owner of a Kitchen Aid stand Mixer for free.😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Always wait for the bread to cool at least an hour before cutting into it. You can also just use the bread maker to mix and proof your dough and bake it in the oven, it can also make pizza dough. I had no idea a bread maker could make jam. Maybe you can make orange marmalade in it.
Good you checked the pockets on that suitcase.. Oh memories.. Years ago, when traveling, my suitcase wheel broke, I threw it out & bought a new one. Totally FORGOT I stashed, on another travel, a jade & gold ring my Uncle gave me; he brought it back from Japan while in the service . And I threw that suitcase out in haste as we had a flight to catch! Grrr.. 😊Ya never know what you might find!!! Hey- We really enjoy your channel!! And we love how you love Bones, like you did sweet Pilgrim!! God rest his pure & sweet soul!❤️
So sweet of Alex (?) To pick up call the school paper and books up. Well done! Love your videos. You are always both so polite, kind , caring and it really comes through. 🙏❤
You two are so funny! You brighten my day for sure. I crack up every time I hear you sound so sad that all that’s in the dumpster is garbage, or Kelly says, “Ooooo, gross!” You guys do remember you are dumpster divers! lol. I just love you!
Such a fun video. Even tho you didn't find a ton of stuff, what you did find was golden! The board Alex needed and a brand new bread machine - I'd call that a successful day indeed! 💜 Love it when you take us back home and test your finds; you two are great together, the love really shows. 😊
Alex and Kelly !!!! Thanks for taking us along!!! I appreciate you both so much!!!! So glad the bread maker worked after all ! Stay safe stay great and keep up the good work!!!!
Hi guys, saw the suitcase and wondered if you’ve thought of rescuing them and donating to the department that is associated with foster kids. Most of the kids just drag their stuff around in garbage bags. Thanks for all you do.
Yes, we have! But this suitcase wasn't in good enough condition. It wasn't really visable in the video but it had a large crack across the top and tears on the liner. Thanks so much for watching :D
Hi guys. The wheels can still be used. Keep them and sell at your sales, You will be surprised at poeple actually only needing that to make their suitcase functional again.
Just a thought. We moved a couple of years ago from a house to a condo. It was a fairly new community. Ours was about half way through. With the rest to be built or finished. There were two large dumpsters always full. So. As people moved in there was no place to put stuff they didn’t have room for. I found a lot of usable furniture and other stuff. Maybe keep an eye out.
Hello, Alex and Kelly! So happy to see you! Your both looking really healthy and happy! Your positive attitude, smiling, cheerfulness, wonderful team work, caring enough to Dumpster Dive is absolutely amazing to me! Thank you for helping making my days more positive and cheerful! Knowing your trying to save good stuff from land fill. Sharing, donating, re selling and just setting a fantastic role for others to follow!❤🎉
I always donate duffle bags, suit cases, back packs to our foster care program. Children only have bags for there belongings 👍🤓👍. Hopefully one day these kids won't ever have to pack a bag again❣️🙏. They will have a permanent home with love and structure❣️🙏❣️
I still have my boys Koosas. They didn’t take them with them when they got married. They are DEFINITELY from the early 80’s, ‘coz my boys were born in ‘75 and ‘77.
That is an awesome find with the bread maker. I never really liked how the bread cooked in the bread maker so I would do the dough setting and then put it in the bread pan and let it rise again before baking. That is a nice thick piece of plywood should work great for the basketball hoops.
Hi 👋🏻 Alex & Kelly I am glad Alex found a piece of plywood for his backboard. I hope it works well and it turns out great 👍🏻 The bread maker is the best find ever they are pretty costly, but you got it for $7.00 what a find! Enjoy 😊 The stuffed animals were another wonderful find for donations. Have a fantastic week ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💜
I have this bread maker! I saw someone told you about the yeast. Make sure it's still good or just add a bit more. That always seems to work. Once the dough ball is almost done if it seems too dry, just put a a bit of water in ... a half teaspoon. It should be nice and smooth but not sticky. Mine always seems to need a bit less flour than the re ioe calls for. Happy breading!
Very cool cabbage patch. I used to live in San Antonio Texas. If you have an H.E.B nearby they sometimes throw out good items. You both do such a great job 😊 tell Bones I said hello.
I love that you’re interested in canning! It is so much fun. To learn, make sure you find a reputable source, such as your county extension office. Canning incorrectly can be dangerous. Have fun!
The haircut is cute! Congratulations on your new bread maker. Try different types of bread - you'll be amazed at how much fun you'll have. As for jam? You don't need to can jam, though you could I guess. Follow the recipe and if there's jars you won't use up right away just go the old-fashioned route and put a layer of paraffin on top after the jam has cooled. If you make sure that the liquid paraffin has spread all the way around the edges it will preserve the jam. They used to do it this way in the olden days. I have done it myself. Easy-peasy. The paraffin solidifies of course and when you're ready to use it you just lift the solid disc off of the top and eat your jelly or jam. If you want some help doing it just let me know! I live in the Metroplex and would be happy to help. You can also make freezer jam. And you can just plain cook the fruit down a bit and then freeze it. It will be the same as if you are buying frozen fruit at the grocery.
Hi guys great find with the bread maker, we made some blackberry jam last year turned out great, can’t beat making your own, looking forward to your next dive 😊
I love your channel! Congrats on the great finds today. I've never had a bread maker but have most other gadgets. Good going on your first loaf. I love seeing this side of ya'll. Really entertaining. Can't wait to see the finished basketball backboard. Your naturalness, fun, laughter as you dumpster dive plus your generosity is admirable. ❤ I give ya'll an A+ ❤. HERE THAT ADMIN? We need more YT channels like this.
Love the fresh bead from the machine. So much healthier as you have no additives. Used to make our own bread, u encourage you to try other recipes as they also gave no additives. I make our own jam that's healthier with no additives. TH-cam has lots of recipes that work. It's so much cheaper and you can make variations of your favorite fruit or berry. So happy you found the plywood for your project. Have fun making it. Watching from Anchorage Alaska ❤
Plywood is expensive. I need some for my sofa. The springs are a bit funky in one spot. I need it cut and they charge for that most places. I would have scooped it up too. Love going out with you. It brightens my day. ❤
Plywood is def a better choice than the stuck piece... the stuck one was mdf and will swell and disintegrate when it gets wet .... and many times plywood comes with one "good side" and one not great looking side!! Good find!!
How cool was that to find a brand new breadmaker. Too bad the accessories fell out. lol But, no biggie. Next time when grabbing a good find, maybe it'll just make you remember to double check around the item for any extra parts, etc. I bet those people contacted amazon because the item was scratched and amazon sent a replacement and they were told to just keep the item. We've had that happen. I'm glad you found that, I'm sure you will get lots of use out of it. Made me want to get my breadmaker out and use it. Haven't forr a while, but, I use to make bread all the time. Cool that you found the plywood for your project. Hopefully it works great for that, as lumber can be very costly. Thanks for taking us along! Missed seeing Bones today. Give him some pets for me. :
Nice dive. Awesome find with that bread maker!😮😊You can definitely can those oranges & make orange marmalade. Strawberries are risky as one little bad spot will make the whole batch go bad.
Used my breadmaker for yrs and loved the results. You can easily make salad croutons and herb stuffing cubes Enjoy. We always fought the end pieces. Great toasted
Great haul and Great find with the bread maker. by the way there is such a thing as orange jelly, orange jam, and orange marmalade! if you ever find a large quantity of oranges again you should try to make some.

Hi, I always love to watch your vlogs from The Netherlands. Can you go back to that dumpster and pick up the things that fell out of the bread maker machine box? They can be useful.
To make a softer loaf of bread, be sure to sift the flour into a bowl first, _then_ measure the 3 1/4 cups or whatever from that bowl. While it may be safe to eat it really does have a best by time for baking, especially texture things like bread. Just curious to even try the same recipe with a few of these tricks. You're right...no need to let it cool. I've been baking bread for years 40+ and I use unsalted butter but I use 1 tsp. Salt per loaf. I also mix in 5 tsp. Hey hey.. awesome breadmaker..I used to have years ago..makes great pizza dough..also..you can make sweet orange jam or marmalade from the oranges.. Great to see you happy chappies going well ❤😊
Awesome bread maker guys! Add cinnamon sugar and raisins to your dough or even peanut butter. Let it cook with either or and it's awesome! Yum! If you make your dough with the cinnamon sugar you can make some wicked french toast with it
I found a ton of strawberries, like you mentioned, recently. I think about 26 containers. I spent a while sorting through and pulling out the bad ones. I gave 10-12 containers to people in my diving group. Most of it went into my food dehydrator. A few went bad. I've also found a lot of oranges - many got juiced. I pass on food to several families.
Hi Kelly and Alex i enjoyed your video. I sure would like a piece of that bread it looks delicious. You guys are awesome. Have a wonderful evening. Love you guys God bless.♥️💕❤️🙏🙏🙏👍✌️😇
Both of you are a delight to watch. The bread maker find was awesome. Even more to see yall making the bread and eating Also Alex playing with it. Can wait to see the hoop backboard project.Keep diving and have fun.

Do you find school book for kids to write in of math and read and spelling
Your positive attitude and humor always make my day! Thanks!😊
Love the editorial about the bread 🍞
You can make orange marmalade, which is similar to jam.
So, did the bread maker work?

They make bread maker yeast !!
Yes they do but active dry yeast works just as well & you get more bang for your buck when buying it.
Thanks for the tip!!

The cabbage patch thing is called a Koosa. It's basically a cabbage patch pet. My daughter had one just like that over 30 years ago.
I had one when I was a kid! Definitely from the mid 80s.
I once read that foster children Ned a suitcase for their clothes. Otherwise they use trash bags.
I still have my boys Koosas. They didn’t take them with them when they got married. They are DEFINITELY from the early 80’s, ‘coz my boys were born in ‘75 and ‘77.

Homemade bread is so good! My mom and I used to make bread using a starter. It was so good. RIP Mom❤ This was a fun dive!
I used to have a bread maker and loved making bread in it. It was super easy! You're going to love it!
Oranges don't make jam but does make Marmalade

The bread looks good. Glad it works. The cabbage patch pig was one of the pets and their collection.. Not a bad score. Thanks for sharing.🥰

Good job on the bread Alex 😁
You forgot to show us Bones! Thanks for the great video. Clare and my mother, Susan from the UK.
Maybe Alex can paint a great design on the new backboard wood for the basketball hoop 👍
Cool bread maker, let it stand an hour or so b4 you make it and see if it changes it any. Love you guys ❤
You can always make orange marmalade jelly. So good 😊
Great find, and that bread looks perfect 😊

Used my breadmaker for yrs and loved the results.
You can easily make salad croutons and herb stuffing cubes
Enjoy. We always fought the end pieces. Great toasted
Dandelion syrup in spring is bomb😊
Great haul and Great find with the bread maker.
by the way there is such a thing as orange jelly, orange jam, and orange marmalade! if you ever find a large quantity of oranges again you should try to make some.
I love your haircut!! That bread maker is a great find. I love homemade bread.

I love my bread maker! Love that I know what’s in my bread…no preservatives 😊
Congrats on the bread maker! Great find! And both y'alls hair cuts look really good on you!
Hi, I always love to watch your vlogs from The Netherlands. Can you go back to that dumpster and pick up the things that fell out of the bread maker machine box? They can be useful.
Loved seeing you use the bread maker! ❤
To make a softer loaf of bread, be sure to sift the flour into a bowl first, _then_ measure the 3 1/4 cups or whatever from that bowl. Lift the sifted flour into the measuring cup spoon by spoon, add into another bowl, whisk in other dry ingredients. If you just take the four straight from the bag, it winds up being too much (tough loaf.) Makes a big difference!
Thank you!! I've asked everyone I know that makes bread and never heard this tip! Mine always turns out so DENSE AND HEAVY like the one in the video 😂
You'll be amazed at how much flour is left over from the "straight" measure!@@lizstokes9091
My other very basic advice is to use fairly fresh flour and new yeast. The flour especially gets me as I dont bake often and it changes over time... changes the density of finished project. While it may be safe to eat it really does have a best by time for baking, especially texture things like bread. Just curious to even try the same recipe with a few of these tricks. I know others say to let the bread rest but I still catch it warm as yum fresh hot bread should be the best!
I dont adjust the salt I follow recipes for baking but then some unsalted butter and a sprinkle of salt, flaky if u have it, on bread machine bread really brings it up a level! Doesn't taste salty, give it a try.
Yum, tempted to get my bread machine out! Best to program to run overnight and have fresh hot bread in the morning. Wake up to that smell...yummo.
You're right...no need to let it cool. I've been baking bread for years 40+ and I use unsalted butter but I use 1 tsp. Salt per loaf. I also mix in 5 tsp. Sugar ( for 2 loaves) because it makes the yeast activate better. I've never used a bread maker but that looked very good! Over the years I've noticed that flour has changed. White Lilly and bread flour seem to do better but it's still not as good as back in MY day! My family loves it. I even braid it sometimes. 😊
Great find,nice bread maker
Hi ya! Glad to see y'all again! Happy dumpster diving!
Hey hey.. awesome breadmaker..I used to have years ago..makes great pizza dough..also..you can make sweet orange jam or marmalade from the oranges..

Hi. I’m pretty sure that when you lifted the box with the bread maker inside, that items fell out into the dumpster.. good score
I just yesterday showed my son an amazon bread maker I want! Super Awesome 👏😎!
