    Very interesting and remind me of the beads that were great years ago . Thank you, Sarah, for going to showing of how to use these and your “Washed up” of beads on the ocean- others showed how to make them- so interesting today! 💕

    Thank you for sharing your collection. I didn't know there was that many different shapes of beads. Even though I've just started I want to eventually use beads in my embroidery.

    I have heaps of seed beads from my bead weaving stage, now past! Family will be doing lots of eye rolling when they have to dispose of them all when I go to Stitchers' Heaven! I agree with Mary that Japanese are best, although Mill Hill seem to be rounder. Hint for using Nymo thread on clothing, and for making bead woven jewellery: give it a good tug or two before you start stitching, as it will stretch.

    Love your little beads above the long cuff of your grey sweater in other videos. Subtle rather than over the top. Though over the top is also fun. Wondering if you beaded that sweater yourself.

    Another reason you want glass or really any bead that isn't plastic or has a Styrofoam center or coating you don't mind getting washed off melting or damaged is because if the item needs dry cleaned or really any other cleaning method aside from hand washed, particularly to get stains out then they will melt with various solvents and heat applications.
    Glass Crystal and stone and usually there's no danger of this but pearl beads are often Styrofoam or plastic or have a pearlescent coating instead of actual pearl.

    Sarah I watched your video on how to make a dragonfly and want to have a go. Where can I find the fabric with the letter H in gold? I too used to make jewelry and am eager to combine my bead collection with embroidery.

    Thankyou maam for your guidance. A question please. Won't the metal beads go bad after washing the cloth or rust .

    • @SarahHomfrayEmbroidery
      @SarahHomfrayEmbroidery  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used all glass beads for this project Shenaz, but you can use metal ones. Most of them should have a finishing on them to stop them rusting but if you need to wash them, then make sure they are thoroughly dry and not kept anywhere damp and they should be fine!

    Sarah, on the medieval crown, did you stitch down the pearl first, or the seed beads?

    • @SarahHomfrayEmbroidery
      @SarahHomfrayEmbroidery  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That strand of tiny seed beads is most likely size 15/0, as that's the smallest size you can commonly get. (Mill Hill, for example, sells size 15/0 beads under the "petite seed bead" name.)

    • @SarahHomfrayEmbroidery
      @SarahHomfrayEmbroidery  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have some size 15's Tim but the ones in the video are smaller!

    • @tim1724
      @tim1724 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery oh wow, those smaller ones are hard to find! (Mostly vintage French beads)

    Japanese glass beads are better finished. I bought some cheaper bugle beads and they we very sharp on the cut ends so they cut my working threads.
