Wulingyuan, Zhangjiajie, Hunan🇨🇳 The Most Incredible Wonders in China (4K HDR)

Wulingyuan (武陵源) is a scenic and historical site located in the Wulingyuan District of Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province (湖南省), China. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992, Wulingyuan is celebrated for its over 3,000 quartzite sandstone pillars and peaks, many of which rise over 200 meters (660 ft) high. This majestic landscape is also home to ravines, gorges, streams, pools, lakes, rivers, and waterfalls, enhancing its picturesque beauty. The area includes 40 caves adorned with large calcite deposits and features the Tianqiashengkong (天桥盛空), or 'bridge across the sky,' one of the world's highest natural bridges.
Wulingyuan covers an area of 690 square kilometers (266 square miles) within the broader Wuling Mountain Range and comprises four national parks: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Suoxi Valley Nature Reserve, Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve, and Yangjiajie Scenic Area. Together, these parks offer over 560 attraction sights for visitors.
The unique geological formations of Wulingyuan, including its iconic sandstone pillars, were formed through a combination of tectonic uplift and water erosion during the Devonian period (400 to 350 million years ago). The highest point in the park is Huang Shi Zhai (黄石寨), reaching a height of 3,450 feet (1,050 m), accessible by cable car or stairs.
Wulingyuan is not only a natural wonder but also a habitat for several vulnerable species, such as the dhole, Asiatic black bear, and Chinese water deer, making it a significant site for both ecological preservation and tourism.
