This guitar solo every time gives me a goosebumps!❤🔥 This solo is from original song but Tommy did fantastic job with it and I'm sure Gary would be proud of him.❤
Tommy is a big fan of Gary Moore. His work has had a huge influence on everything Tommy has done and does. "Empty Rooms" is one of Tommy's early works. It's amazing. It's something you just want to listen to over and over again. I recommend listening to Tommy's cover of "THE LONER". I'm sure you'll like it. Although there are no words, the guitar sounds so good that it gives you goosebumps. Thanks for the review!
Tommy is a big fan of Gary Moore and bought his guitar and it's the one he plays in this particular song and in the song "Murder in the skies". Gary was a member of the band Thin Lizzy among others, but is best known as a solo artist. He was born in 1952 in Belfast and died in 2011
No, the Gary Moore guitar he owns is a PRS, those Charvels are replicas of the guitars Gary used live during 1986-1987 (his late metal era), Tommy asked Charvel to make them for him (since I think he has an exclusivity contract with them). He got the PRS after he made this cover and it makes sense since this cover was heavily inspired by the Stockholm 1987 live version of Empty Rooms.
Gary Moore was a British (Northern Ireland) guitarist and singer. He played for Skid Row and Thin Lizzy before carving out his solo career in the 80s. He was a virtuoso on the guitar and his style was a blend of blues and rock. He could make the guitar sing in his songs.
As others have mentioned, Gary Moore is Tommy's idol a who influenced him. Unfortunately, Gary passed away in 2011 at 58 years old. When you see Tommy do his amazing covers, somehow his covers of Gary's music seems all the more special. I'm glad you liked this one, great reaction!
I only recently (this yr) heard of Gary Moore because of a Dan Vasc cover of one of his songs. I believe the song's title was "Over the Hills." It's great & I looked him up, confusing him with the old country singer Gary Morris at the time (who had a beautiful voice, too). I'm old enough to have known of Gary Moore, but he must have slipped my radar until now. Never heard this song until today & Tommy Johansson did a great cover. I'll have to look up the original now to have a listen. Thank you for Tommy Johansson week, Paul. Glad someone requested this one.😊
What a reaction, man! I'll have to look into Tommy, I have a feeling you'll have me following him as much as Dana. They are totally different, especially since Tommy puts more emphasis on bass, solo... Singing is not in the background for him, I just think that his attention is equally divided there. But he seems to be strong enough to deliver it all with the same intensity, so the overall impression is a very, very strong performance.
Gary Moore was a master guitarist, especially in the 80s, and inspired many musicians. Including Tommy, who has been a huge Gary Moore fan since he was 9 years old. It's hard to believe you've never heard of him. Then it's high time !! 😉😊
Gary Moore played this version in a show in Stockholm, Sweden in 1987. Not too long time from when Tommy was born. th-cam.com/video/P3dapDTDJzk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=IotzgRzCxtr-FcDu
Gary Moore wrote this song and many more covers that Tommy does! He was who inspired Tommy to learn the guitar and start on his musical journey. I suggest Tommy's cover of Gary Moore's "Over the hills and far away", beautiful guitar work! No one makes a guitar talk like GM! I suggest listening to "The Messiah Will Come Again", th-cam.com/video/WMdbsmuhLZ0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=p-hXOeLyzsOwuY25, it's long but amazing! Also if you enjoy bass, I suggest hearing Tommy's band Majestica do "Above the Sky", it has an awesome bass solo! ❤
Gary Moore was a really good musician and guitarplayer. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Moore He was Tommys idol growing up so Gary Moore is special to Tommy Tommy managed to come across his guitar a while back
