Dance Hall is too sexualized. You can be sexy, but not so raw. Im Jamaican and i love reggea. But not all Jamaicans jive with dance hall music the way it is now. In addition we can wine our waistline......but not become so " RAW " about it.....But i love spice, she is a very hard working Jamaican woman. Her worth ethic is admirable.

"Koffee/Lila Ike". Wonder why that is... They made sure to show the Koffee video at the exact time they were mentioning Bob Marley message about equality (according to them). Hmmm🤔

Terrible word usage by the interviewer. Misogynistic? Does that mean to hate women? And you’re interviewing a woman advocating for dancehall. Good morning America should’ve used a interviewer who’s more passionate and understanding about dancehall.
Dancehall doesn't promote Jamaica's culture. Dancehall is highly sexual, usually based in lyrics that promote the disrespect of women, glorify gun violence and other crimes like scamming, robbery and imtimidation of witnesses of crimes. It irks me to see the great Bob Marley in the introduction of this interview then this lady who specializes in vulgarity and lewdness speaking about the culture of Jamaica. Cho rah.

It's funny how this is being featured in June, when dancehall music promotes violence against the LGBT community. The lyrics of the music are extremely violent and openly promote violence towards the LGBT community that celebrates Pride in June. While Spice herself has no songs that promote violence against LGBT people, she has a few songs that speak negatively about the community, but most male dancehall artists have so many songs that explicitly suggest that LGBT people should be harmed, thus it’s not a genre of music that should be celebrated! Most of these songs were removed from mainstream media because of their violent nature, but on the island, when they have dancehall parties, they play these songs, and people explicitly strike lighters and burn fire in agreement with the lyrics of the music. The female artists of dancehall usually don’t express much hate towards the LGBT community, but sometimes they make suggestive comments that lead to violence being directed at the LGBT community. This genre of music is not something to celebrate during Pride Month.
She did give the people in Jamaica a lot of help. Dancehall music is grimy gross lyrics. Anything from gunshots to horrible, sexual gross, harmful, lyrics. This is not Jamaica’s culture I disagree with her.
I have listened to all genres of Reggae music because I love Reggae. However it is not fair to generalize dancehall music as only about guns and sex because it is not . There are some artist yes who that is all they sing about , however, there are others with feel good dance music and music that tells stories about what is happening in society. Therefore you have choices as to what you can or what you want to listen to.
