I moved here (Kingsport then Surgoinsville) 14 years ago from Sarasota Florida and absolutely love it. I miss the beach but the people, weather, cost of living, and scenery are great. I love the country life and won’t ever live in the city again.
@ianstephens8533 I spent 40 years in South bend, IN, and now live I Asheville, NC in the heart of all the beauty for 8 years now, but I have a cottage on Boone Lake in Johnson City, TN, just 9 mile (10 mins) from Bristol and another in Gatlinburg. All a very nice area.
Steve has so many engines out there now he could just drive from event to event in a big van full of spare parts just to help service all his customers.
I remember the very first time I came to Bristols Thunder Valley. I was like 8 yrs old, and it was the very first Super Chevy Show I'd ever been to. My entire family went there and stayed for the weekend, then went to Gatlinburg for a week. That was the deal between my mom and dad lol. Me and him got to go to the drag strip and my older brother, younger sister, and mom got to go to Gatlinburg. I'll never forget that place. I remember the Jolly Rancher firetruck wheel stand car lol😂
I love the banter between you two guys. Sounds like a lot of work, but a lot of fun also and a sense of accomplishment you just can't get sitting at home. BTW, nice Corinthian leather bag!!! 😁
It’s funny is this day and age most guys couldn’t change a spark plug in a lawnmower and Steve is doing valve jobs in a hotel parking lot. Keep up the good work! as an off-road guy We are always just trying to keep our stuff running very much like the drag and drive stuff I love it.
You guys must pull some serious social media star power to have the Hotel allow you to tear down an engine in the middle of their entrance. Great to see you still in the running.
@@oldanslo think of who will the be the majority of the guests when drag week is in town. they will either be passed out cold or excited for these guys that they got it fixed.
Thank you for showing us the scenery and what you can see around the track. I personally have never seen it before end of only been looking at the buildings for the most part.
It has really changed. I haven't been since the 80s. It was IHRA then. Seen all the big boys of the time and the beginning of Pro Mod. Looks totally new now. Just not the same. Good luck. Ronnie.
That's my home track! Wish I could of come meet you! I must say I came to street care takeover when ckeetus was there and I was very disappointed at bristols track prep! Hopefully they did better for you guys better then they did cleetus! It took cleetus complaining to the track before they stopped and preped and even then it still wasn't that good
At 7:47 that's the salt shed on I-26 southbound at the Flag Pond NC exit. Passed by there a ton of times when I moved from NC to TN. Bristol is awesomeness.
The car that blew the intake off had a burst panel ? Did that blow and get replaced. That must have been a hell of a sneeze to put that into near earth orbit . Great videos Steve , all the tech details and messing about , you guys always look like you are having fun, no matter what . Keep on trucking. 😎👍
As someone proud to identify as trans-Tennessean, it is a great place to live. Truly one of the last bastions of individual freedom left, which is why we've been flooded w so many leftugees. The drag strip is on of the best in the country. Although I had no clue there was anything going on, the organizers need to step up their marketing game. Good luck man, around here we tend to celebrate in the celebratory gun fire fashion, so as they say "when in Rome".
My favorite two guys together! You two are the best drag and drive comedians out there!! Sorry Steve but you gonna have to ride in that damn hot rod on the next drag and drive! Too funny! Tom can’t keep a straight face and you Steve are funny as hell. Turn that boost up and let it rip tater chip!!
Iirc didn't Steve note that the broken rusted valve springs were from methanol RUN engine, put away w/o clearing the system? If the other guy had never started or run it AT ALL, then the issue is valve fatigue from being compressed and stationary for 3 years.
If you're interested, you should see Bristol at Christmas with all of the lights set up. They raise money for 2 local charities and the electricity is donated by the power company. You get to drive the place to see it all.
@@beege1968 definitely gotta be something I've heard Steve mention it in a few racing videos with Tom and him, I think he lifted again 🤣 I really wonder what a wide open full pass would be, definitely 5s

Shhhhh. Stop telling people. We have too many people now!
I live about 6 hours away and we visit that area every chance we get!! Beautiful corner of the country.
Sitting at the top end of my local track, watching Steve do his thing in-between rounds. Awesome how he supports all the people running his stuff!

An SMX powered van
@williamPayneNZ I agree. I was gonna bring something like that up to him...
Him and Tom are definitely racing legends of our time connecting with racers and racing so cool 😎
He is not there for work guys. He does this for Tom because of friendship and get away from work.

Mr Steve it must feel nice knowing your engines are holding the high standards. 😊😊😊💯💯💯💯💯

Great to see 1.0 still dominating…. It’s still one of the best finished D&D cars about😊😊😊
It is such a nice finished car to look at. Everything about it screams show car with the numbers to prove it is way much more.
You two have too much fun together. Great friends are awesome in life. Be safe.
You are a true engine builder, my dad built and drove street rods all of my life
The Milk Truck driver loves ❤️ holding that shifter knob .🤣. He’s getting a feeling out of it.🤣🤣👍👌🇦🇺
I wonder how many times Steve has said "Tom lifted" this week? 🤣🤣🤣
All the little jabs at Tom 😂
That might make a good drinking game! Lol

The layout of Bristol and the scenery is just awesome!
At the buttcrack of Dawn? I didn’t realise she’s racing this week! Give her my best!
Sorry. Couldn’t resist 😔🤣
Another great video, Steve. Thanks!
That’s got to be the best looking track in the nation. I’ve seen stuff at thunder valley but never knew it was like that. Beautiful
Beautiful view Thunder valley those mountains wow what a awesome spot to be let alone race 👌

Steve it's gotta be so cool to be at a place like that and event like this knowing your engines are running the pack wtg man you deserve it
I always loved being at any race track. That looks amazing and I totally get the emotion.
I remember when Bristol was a tiny drag strip. One small grandstand on each side.
So loving all this drag and drive…..wish we had it here in Australia 😊
We do. Not as big but getting there.

Be awesome to see a SML I4 in the works have it use the Chevy 90 degree bellhousing lbs
Yes please! A turbo four would make for a sweet drag n drive/street car. Great fuel mileage AND big horsepower on tap.
Ive lived in East Tn my whole life. Views like the one at Bristol are why i'll never live anywhere else.
I am curious why the viper didn't blow the burst panel before it popped the intake?
If it’s a big explosion and there is not enough burst panel it will blow the lid off . Some intakes have 2 burst panels to help .

Stevie is a pretty funny fella

As silly turbo cars
And nitrous cars as
Big ol nitrous cars
Taking the piss out em
Personally I don't like all the pig rooting that goes on with
Staging and spooling
Silly turbo cars
Gotta admit they are quick on their day
I just love the no fuss calm before the storm with screw blown cars
When they come out of the box right
Dunno what it is the whole staging process with silly turbo cars and first 60 always seems rowdy yet lazy their top ends are pretty cool though
And fast once they get the other stuff out of the way
Each to their own
I'm from australia and have been a fan of John zappia since the first time I witnessed him over 20 years ago blowers and mechanical fuel are still relevant and fast
Good luck to you fellas and ladies
That wish to tune with computers into electronic injectors
Boost controllers and timing maps
Enter your new tune and forget a save or something and your fried
Or lazy on the pass
It happens to the best of em
Look at Steve a few times this week
Yep I know you won't get a blown mechanical car to drive from strip to strip and then run sixes or better
Horses for courses
Interesting to watch their predicaments and on the run
Problem solving
And theyl rest well after this week
They are living it
