    Let's make sugar scrub for feet!
    I’m using Tea Tree essential oil, avocado oil, and coconut sugar to make this sugar scrub. This recipe is good for dry, chapped skin, so it offers a lot of love to feet.
    To make the sugar scrub, combine these ingredients in a 2 oz (60 ml) wide-mouth jar:
    1 oz (28 gm) Coconut sugar (0:50)
    1 oz (30 ml) Avocado oil (Persea gratissima) (2:12)
    10 drops Tea Tree essential oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) (4:13)
    Tea Tree oil is the perfect ingredient in sugar scrub for feet! It’s antimicrobial and antifungal, and has a bright refreshing scent. I talk more about Tea Tree in the video at 3:50.
    Once this recipe is blended together, the avocado oil may float to the top of the sugar. Just shake it up before you use it in the bathtub or shower. (Be sure to wipe off your shower floor with a towel after using this recipe. It’s slippery!)

    I had no idea how easy it is to make your own scrub. Just to make it easier, I would add the eo to the avocado oil, then poor over the sugar for a more even distribution. Will try this in the next week!

    Andrea, Thank you for your fun videos! I am looking forward to seeing and learning as much as I can. Please tell me where I can get a blank inhaler. And would fractionated coconut oil be a good carrier for this recipe, or what might you use it for? Thank you!

      Karen Cronin, you could use fractionated coconut oil in place of the avocado oil. The blank inhalers come from Aromatics.com www.aromatics.com/products/blank-inhalers

    • @aromatherapyoils
      @aromatherapyoils  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The shelf life of the scrub would be the shelf life of the avocado oil which is generally 3 years. This is a carrier that is easy to see when it is approaching the end of its shelf life because it will start to turn brown from its green color.

    • @aromatherapyoils
      @aromatherapyoils  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Karina! The Aromahead Approach is to make products without preservatives and simply make them fresh as needed (with water-based products, that would be every 2-3 weeks). Of course if you are selling water-based products you would need to use a preservative.

      palamena96, you could totally use coconut oil in place of the avocado. I like them both equally and either one would compliment this recipe.

    I absolutely LOVE all your recipes, but I have one concern that I don't remember seeing you address before! Do you think there's any danger of 'stoppinig up the drain' by using any of these scrubs etc (that have oil in them) in the bath tub or shower? Thanks so much for all you do!!!!

    Hello. I'd like to know your thoughts on using this on a diabetic person?
    My mom is, and she struggles with diabetic issues on her feet from time to time, and i thought make this recipe for her because of the antimicrobial property of tea tree. I want the best for her, and i would appreciate your opinion on this. Thank you so much!

    Do you need to add a preservative since it is a scrub and water may be introduced when it is being used? What preservative would you use?

    • @aromatherapyoils
      @aromatherapyoils  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Aromahead Approach is to make products without preservatives and simply make them fresh as needed. If you are concerned you could add a preservative. Since I don’t use preservatives, I wouldn't be able to advise from experience about that.

      Mary Ann Combs, I like to use blank labels, and I often get them from Richmark Labels. You can ask for any color and print your website, email, phone number, or business name on them. You can ask for any size, or even multiple sizes. I use a black Sharpie extra fine point marker to write on them. Works great!
      After I write on my label, I cover it with a clear laminate label of the same size and shape. That way my ink doesn’t smear.

    Do you have to use glass containers for this and homemade lotions with essential oils in them?

    • @aromatherapyoils
      @aromatherapyoils  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ann E.We are frequently asked whether or not it is safe to use plastic bottles and containers to hold essential oils. Undiluted essential oils should not be stored in plastic containers, as some properties in many essential oils will break down the plastic, which can destroy the oil and often cause leakage. However, since our plastic bottles and containers are made of the highest grade of plastic, essential oils can be stored in our plastic bottles and containers for several months if the oils are diluted with a carrier oil.

    • @aromatherapyoils

      Kayla Sargent at Aromahead, we don't teach the use of essential oils on animals. Our recommendation is not to use essential oils directly on the fur or skin of small animals.
      Animals are sensitive and it is good to be aware of that. We do recommend reaching out Kelly Holland Azzaroat Ashi Therapy to learn more where animals are concerned. www.ashitherapy.com/animalaromatherapy.htm

      Kathryn Phayre aww that's so sweet to make this scrub as a gift. It’s best to use oils only as needed when pregnant and some women choose to wait until after their first trimester to use them. It’s a great foot scrub on its own and I like the idea of using Coconut oil in place of Avocado oil to add a light tropical aroma without essential oils.
