i appreciate your explanation, however, i expect that you understood very well that by 'soul' and 'warmth' i was directly referring to emotion and that your dismissal of these attributes meant that parrish's music was more conceptual than emotional. now it seems you are twisting your argument to make it seem that abstract music can stimulate emotionally in the same way that soul music does, when that's not the case.
emotions work on our receptors like norepinephrine, dopamine, serotonine, etc. appreciating and enjoying a concept or random jam sends the same kind of signal to the brain to increase the flow in said receptors as would something that is constructed to make you feel emotions. just my idea.
Theo cut off the back two chords. But that sample is the backbone of Ashley Beedles remix of Dj Food's "Cosmic Consciousness" from like early part of '95.
There's a house track from a few years back that samples the record playing at 20.40 and I'm trying to remember the name, but I'm drawing a blank. ID anyone?
it doesn't act on the same receptor but you not enjoying abstract music isnt really going to change the fact that my brain does and acts upon that. granted, i dont even like most of theo's music. but what are we trying to argue about? yes most of his tracks probably don't start off with him trying to evoke emotions from you. but are you trying to argue you cant enjoy music that doesnt have soul in any way? you can, its just not one on one, it visits your brain first before connecting with you

you know that abstract/experimental music has nothing to do with soul, right?
Soul is Black music. Black music is African music. African art is rooted in experimentation & abstraction. Stfu.
