Omg! For a person who has never ever dance ballet she did a great job. I saw people still struggling with simple choreography moves after a year of practice.
Sarah Katie But Lucie is pretty tall tho isn't she? I'm 5'8 and even that is taller then what's prefered. But sure, if Lucie had danced as a kid and untill now, she would've probably been a really good dancer! She did a really good job remember the choreography👏 God, I miss balette so much! 😔 I need to dance again!
Usually when it comes to artistic sports like gymnastics cheerleading and ballet movies overexaggerate, the part about mean coaches are usually not true, and other athletes in the industry are always supportive of each other (at least for me, ive never met a mean degrading co-athlete when I was cheering)
smileforhiba there's not mean they just have very strict things they want out of you, like my ballet instructor is a professional ballerina so she is a little rough sometimes but she's amazing
This is my biggest unfulfilled dream in life. I was so eager to learn but I met a ballet teacher once and she told me that I could never be a ballerina because of a small problem with my leg that I had. I was 4 years old.
Angelica Rufus it was never dangerous on the contrary it would be beneficial. as a kid I couldn't walk quite straight and in her eyes I wasn't 'graceful enough' to learn ballet but I was only 4, I grew up to walk perfectly fine, her opinion just held me back from pursuing activities like dancing or running for many years because I was afraid of looking like a fool. I am too old to start ballet now I'm 23 but it's okay I just wish that people were more encouraging instead of creating such complexities to others
people: ballet is so easy. all you are doing is jump around a stage in a little tutu... ballerina: beats person with point shoes and jetés away, gracefully...
LOVE that Lucie acknowledged how hard dancing is and that a person doesn't become a dancer (or go en pointe) in a day. Favorite Lucie video I fink (hahaha)
@@user-ck3xp4lv3r It still is. She has a natural way of unfolding in large gestures and is well-composed in proportion. I began ballet at the age of 15 and never got that turnout naturally as she does, not even by cheating. Also, my physics are not as outstretched but more compact. If she took lessons seriously, she would soon be good at bar-less adagio.
@@user-ck3xp4lv3r Yes, I know. People with long, thin legs tend to look more flexible than they are at first. One can still say that she put her extremities quite well together for the first time. I wish you a lot of joy persuing your dance furtheron!
When she put on the pointe shoes I freaked out bc I know how hard it is to be in them(I'm a competitive dancer) and I felt a lot better when she said she wasn't going to dance in them.
Thank you so much for recognizing how much time and effort it takes to do ballet I have been doing it for 7 years and I have class 4 days a week and rehearsals all the time
what perfect timing! I went to see my cousin's ballet recital, they all looked so graceful and long but you could definitely tell it was not easy to do, good job Lucie!
YES. I’m a ballerina (not professionally cause I’m 12 😂) I’ve been taking ballet and dance classes in general since I was 2, so this is my tenth year of dance. This is a great video that showcases how hard being a ballerina really is.
I love this video!! you are right Lucie, ballet is so hard but beautiful. I took the art for 4 years and it was so much fun and something I continue to be passionate about! love all your videos and enjoy seeing you explore new things.
I love pointe so much I have been doing pointe for about two years. I go though about at least five pairs of pointe shoes a week. It was fun watching Lucy try to do a bun and just learning the dance. I’m 11 years old and I have danced since the age of 2 and it makes it easier to star young so I give lucky major respect for trying the dance.❤️😘
great job for your first time! you put a lot of efort in that and i could tell my self am doing ballet and getting red for point even though im only 10 years great gob!!!!!
Lucie is doing very well for her first time doing ballet! Of course her technique could be better, but for a beginner she’s doing amazing. Was impressed.
Watching this video and I as a ballerina is such a fun video to look back at. I started like Lucie and she is right! It took many years to perfect a bun and get to pointe shoes
MY FAVOURITE PART IS STRETCHING!! Everything else is blood ( not a lot so chill XD), sweat, tears and sewing your pointe shoe ribbons on again and again and again...
I loved that! I started at eight and lasted until I was 26, eight years as a pro and then some teaching My teachers were great at helping one get the technic.
Oh thank god she said she wasn't going to dance in the pointe shoes. I was going to have a coronary lol. This is one video that really respects the art of ballet, instead of making it seem like anyone can be a ballerina.
Lucie fink has he biggest cajones ever dancing on camera with isabella boyleston.Like combining playing violin with olympic gymnastics at the same time.GO lucie and stan bella
I am 59 yrs old and did RAD Gr 5 exam this morning. After dancing for 6 yrs as I child I went back 5 yrs ago in an adult class. In Sep 2016 my teachers recommended I work towards an exam. This was harder and more work than any of the half-and full marathons I did in race walking. One is never too old to do ballet, but only those who start young will be able to attain the standard required for professional dancing. I do it for the psychological and physical benefit and have never felt better.
eyyy!! it's Isabella Boylston!! even just looking through a couple of ballet videos on TH-cam, I know her as one of the principal dancers at the ABT :) She's so pretty and graceful
I'm learning amateur ballet for nine years now and I think you did really good in your first try. I do think that you could be easily trained and you could be very good after a few years
Lucy's Job is amazing. I've been a dancer for 10 years but I've never done ballet. Yes I did some ballet stretches and workouts, and for the past 2 years I have been doing ballet exercises for my self, but ok not a ballerina. I wish I had a job like Lucy, to go and take lessons from ballet professionals and make videos about it. Lucky Lucy
She was awesome as a complete novice! If she took lessons I believe she could go far. People who have never trained for ballet have no idea how very difficult it is and how disciplined one has to be to perfect this art.
I freaked out about the Pointe shoes when I heard that she wasn’t going to dance in them I was already dead. At the end I was scared of when she went on the Pointe shoes for a second..
This was really cool! I used to take ballet, contemporary, and tap, but I had to give them up due to injury and getting my first horse. I'm not sure if this has happened yet, but I would love to see her try equestrian! I think it would be really interesting. Have a good day everyone! ❤💛💚💜💙
Seeing this makes me think she should have done ballet, for a first try she's got really amazing qualities and the fact that she could even copy what Isabella was doing without using the wrong leg etc was pretty impressive. And she's totally got the body too, I'm jealous haha
LoL I'm a ballet/modern dancer and I love when people try ballet. Makes me happy to see people have fun and try something new and get and understanding for what goes into the job ^^ I'm glad she didn't break an ankle en pointe though
I think that this is proof that having a prefect ballet body doesn't automatically make you a good dancer. As I ballet dancer myself, I struggled and still struggle with not being thin enough (although I'm a normal weight). But I observed some how my thinner classmates didn't have as good technique or flexibility as me, even though they've took more ballet classes. In my ballet class I wasn't afraid to do mistakes because I knew inside my worth and what I'm capable of, and I've always tried not to let my "not ballerina" body stop me.
such a cute video, always wanted to be a classical dance ballerina, tool modern dancing, but I still looked like an idiot dancing. loved your attitude :)
Omg when she started to tie the pointe shoes, I literally yelled, out loud, “NO” because I did not want to see an ER visit go down lol. Trust me. I know how hard it is to dance en pointe. God lol
I was watching one of her other videos and then she uploaded this so I finished that video then I watched this video and now I am planning to watch another video made from her
I feel as if not everyone understands how difficult and physically demanding ballet is. I did it for 5 years, so I got a little glimpse into how much work it takes to be a ballerina. Movies and TV shows try to glorify dance, but they don’t show you the cracked toes, missing toenails and sore feet.
im not even a ballet dancer or en point but i usually do jazz, hip hop, lyrical, or contemporary yet the only thing i cant do that she did was go en pointe because my technique teacher has us learn ballet even though we dont do it
Omgggg.. I thought that the Isabel was Chloe bc I wasn't rly paying attention and I was watching from the corner of my eye. Once she came in I was like CHLOEEEE? Lmaoooo😂😂
Her turnout is actually ridiculously good for a first timer
Priya Garmhausen turnout is natural so it makes sense
@@Alyssa-qk8kf lol you'd be surprised
Ikr
I dead ass train six days a week and she still has a better turn out. I’m not mad...you are
I know im so jealous
This is one of the best "random person tries ballet" videos!! Respectful, informative, safe!! Good job refinery29, Lucie, and Isabella!
Omg! For a person who has never ever dance ballet she did a great job. I saw people still struggling with simple choreography moves after a year of practice.
Ida C same college kids take dance for credits boy that was entertaining but watching them progress is priceless ballet is so enjoyable
If Lucy had started as a kid, she could probably be a world class ballerina! She has the perfect body for it.
right?! she's so skinny, #goalsaf
Not really her body per portions aren't the best and she would struggle on pointe with the arch of her foot
Sarah Katie But Lucie is pretty tall tho isn't she? I'm 5'8 and even that is taller then what's prefered. But sure, if Lucie had danced as a kid and untill now, she would've probably been a really good dancer! Angelica Rufus as a ballerina my self you don't have to be short I have a dance teacher that is 5'8
Family Boggs my ballet teacher is 5"3
i dont know why i thought ballerinas and ballet trainers are mean and have issues (i blame movies)
but this ballerina seems so positive and sweet
Most ballet teachers are very nice and supportive of dancers
because were cold people
i guess lmao
Usually when it comes to artistic sports like gymnastics cheerleading and ballet movies overexaggerate, the part about mean coaches are usually not true, and other athletes in the industry are always supportive of each other (at least for me, ive never met a mean degrading co-athlete when I was cheering)
smileforhiba there's not mean they just have very strict things they want out of you, like my ballet instructor is a professional ballerina so she is a little rough sometimes but she's amazing
It kind of depends... I’ve had both- but the ones who are mean only want you to get better, their critisism is actually a good thing
made me SO nervous when she startes lacing the shoes and i was like NO NO NO NO but then she was like I'm not dancing in them today t god lol
As a pre-professional ballerina this was really entertaining to watch! Lucy did pretty good for an adult and Isabella is an icon in the ballet world!
This is my biggest unfulfilled dream in life. I was so eager to learn but I met a ballet teacher once and she told me that I could never be a ballerina because of a small problem with my leg that I had. I was 4 years old.
queeneva3 Oh no! You have to go out there and do what you really want! Unless it's really dangerous for your foot ofcourse!
Angelica Rufus it was never dangerous on the contrary it would be beneficial. as a kid I couldn't walk quite straight and in her eyes I wasn't 'graceful enough' to learn ballet but I was only 4, I grew up to walk perfectly fine, her opinion just held me back from pursuing activities like dancing or running for many years because I was afraid of looking like a fool. queeneva3 Oh I'm so sorry to hear that 😔
Never too old to follow your dreams. Sounds cliche, but its true.
prove her wrong! learn and enjoy it 💕
Pointe is so painful😫 but beautiful
Kendall Ford I love pointe but hate it
Ikr. I can do the leg up on something and make my foot pointe like
Pointe isn't actually too bad if you do it right, and like anything you get used to it!
our studio doesn’t allow students younger than 13 to take pointe so yeah

Accurate
LOVE that Lucie acknowledged how hard dancing is and that a person doesn't become a dancer (or go en pointe) in a day. Favorite Lucie video I fink (hahaha)
This was great!!! She actually did things that actual ballerinas do! She didn't just put on a tutu and Pointe shoes and fumble around. Loved it!
"When your outfit is on point, your life is en pointe"
She is annoyingly pretty 😭😭
I've been dancing for 12 years and on pointe for 4 1/2. She was actually pretty good for one lesson, if she had started earlier she would be amazing!
Lucie is the cutest!! "5 days of..." and "Lucie for hire" are my favourite things to watch on TH-cam 😍💕
I'm so glad that Lucy finally did a video on ballet, I do ballet and I am so glad that this video helps show people how hard ballet really is.
am i the only one who notice how great lucie's hip rotation was???? 💕

Shayne Gray lol i suffered even more being a pre-professional ballet dancer
lucie you have such a good physique for a dancer wow
I love how Lucie stressed that it takes years and years to perfect what a ballet dancer does. Thank youuuuu
she's surprisingly flexible for someone who's never done it before

Ballerinas are super strong! I didn't think it was that hard until I started taking ballet classes as a workout.
A little piece of me panicked when she had pointe shoes on in the beginning, but you did so well! Good job, Lucie! 😊
YES. I’m a ballerina (not professionally cause I’m 12 😂) I’ve been taking ballet and dance classes in general since I was 2, so this is my tenth year of dance. This is a great video that showcases how hard being a ballerina really is.
