Good job explaining the OpenJDK. I like how Billy’s voice came out of nowhere.
The Oracle lawyers probably said to Nicolai, "don’t mention the other vendors" 😂.
Very informative content. Thanks for publishing!
Java is awesome!
Thank you for this video! I think the video with answers to people's questions would be great fun 😎
This was a really elegant explanation to a necessarily complex solution. Thank you for what you and the eco-system do for us.
Great explanation of a really confusing situation!
Thank you! This was informative and fun to watch.
Thank you, always nice to hear that a video is enjoyable!🙏
Thanks for sharing 👍
8:53 Now I trust your every lines
I have some (in my opinion) great ideas for core apis that would be great to be available for everyone as part of the jdk standard. Is there some way to discuss if a feature makes sense or is totally useless in some forum? Or should I just propose the addition and get bombarded with people telling me how stupid my idea is?
You didn't cover the topic why Oracle started to charge for jdk and what to do in order to not break the license 🙂
Since JDK 17, Oracle JDK is free to use in production under NFTC (I mention that in the video).
@@nipafx ok, I missed that, sorry
Simple. You go for Eclipse Adoptium or IBM Semeru builds unless your employer says otherwise and you make sure that you don't get used to having javafx included (No Bellsoft builds! Get your openjfx from maven!)
Thanks man, but you haven't answered the question here: is it dangerous for my kids ??
Joke apart, I'd love to see a video focused on answering questions.
Ha, you're right! When I wrote that line, I wanted to come back to it later and say something related to Minecraft. 🤦
I actually forgot! Your vote for the Q&A video is duly noted.
Is OpenJDK vegan? That's the question
Yes! I still recommend not to eat it, though.
Good explanation highlighting the reasons I moved off Java to Go/GoLang;
sorry, didn't get it
HELP
People still use Java?
Even worse, they just use it, no "still" - it's not going anywhere. 😉
lolwut? Java is like water. It covers 3/4 of the Earth's surface... and some of Mars
Is it dangerous for kids.... lol 😁
or just use C++, Rust etc where you don't have to deal with Oracle
Or just watch the video, where he explains how you can get free Java without dealing with Oracle.
This why we need dislikes to be shown so I don't waste time watching rubbish like this.
TH-cam's analytics say the video has 176 likes and 1 dislike. 😉 That stat seems to be lagging by about a day, though, since on the video it says 192 likes and your dislike (presumably) is probably younger than Friday 5am (which is when the other was registered). Either way, ~99% like ratio - pretty good! 👍🏾
I'd love to see the dislikes on your comment.
