I really enjoy the lower register here Stanley! It auto played in another tab and I didn't recognize it as your voice at first. I was ready to encourage a random stranger!
That is so funny, hahaha. Yeah, there are very few videos where I sing low, and this is the lowest. This is what my voice sounds like before I drink coffee in the morning. Thanks, brother!! :)
Love the banjo behind your singing. haunting and dramatic. simple sound, but it add so much. I used to sing this with my parents, before they passed. I really like this song. Never heard of this tuning. I wanna try it out. thank you.
Thanks, David!! I never heard this song growing up (along with most of the music I play now, honestly). I always enjoy seeing reminders that this music is not just beautiful in its own right, but nostalgic and sentimental for a lot of people. I appreciate you sharing that. G-minor tuning is neat! Definitely worth checking out! It makes an open G-minor chord, and there's a lot of neat voicings that can be done with it. I want to find a few more tunes in the tuning myself, haha!
Thank you, Flint! I used to try spamming in as many notes as I could, but I've been working on trying to give my banjo passages a little more breathing room. Especially so for slower songs. I think it probably would have sounded really nice going even sparser, but I like where this one landed. :) And yeah, definitely check out this tuning! It has some really satisfying and chilling chord shapes! I wish I could recommend some other song titles using it, but first I need to actually find some myself, haha! 😄

Nicely done 👏🏼
Like the simple melody you are pulling out. G minor has a very nice sound. I play it in standard tuning with a lot of D minor. I like yours better.
