That’s a real issue in my hometown as well. There’s nothing left for the middle and high schoolers to go do anymore. The movie theaters have closed, the bowling alleys have closed. Indoor skatepark, gone. Apartments which are way too expensive for the locals have been replacing everything which makes no sense. They’re inviting more rich people into town and not showing any concern for the people who already do live here. There’s nothing for the teens and younger adults to do anymore.
Yes! So true. And people wonder why kids don’t care about getting their license these days. Even if their parents could afford to get them a car, when are they supposed to drive?? Teen hangouts are all gone or no longer affordable to adults let one teenagers. When I was in high school the movie theater by me had cheap Tuesday tickets and we could see a movie and go to steak and shake after for less than $10. And that was only 10 years ago
Scott, as a fellow North Dakotan, you should know that 177 miles is just a quick trip down the road! Minot also has the "is this new business a mexican restaurant or car wash" debate every time something is being built haha
When Scott mentioned wanting to be a mascot when he was younger I had an immediate intrusive thought of "He should commission a fursuit" and for some reason I felt that was a thought that needed to be shared.
I don't want to be the "back in my day" guy, but I'm genuinely so sad for people growing up in this day and age. The late 90s to early 2000s was the best time to grow up, because you had online gaming sessions with friends, and TH-cam, but you also had trips to Chuck e. Cheese, and other family fun centers. These days, most of the games are shit, and all of the in person fun centers are shutting their doors.
We also had more kid centered stores in general; KB Toys, Toys R Us, Zainy Brainy, Discovery Zone, Club Disney, Chuck E. Cheese, Showbiz Pizza, ect. There are still a few things like the Modern Chuck-E-Cheeze, American Girl, Disney Store, Lego Store, ect. But NONE of them are as immersive or themed as they used to be. It feels like the death of childhood, "where kids can be kids."
Ok, you had me cracking up when you talked about car washes. My home town, Harlingen, TX is starting to get filled up with carwashes. SO much that people have designed a new town logo which has the Letter H, to show a car going in between the H with the Text: Come Wash Your Car in Harlingen
Be a mascot was also on my bucket list. I got to be the walk around "Safety Pup" at a local school carnival once. I loved the kids reactions. Hated the older kids knocking on the head and pulling the tail. Only been to Chuck E. Cheese's once in my life (Fairview Heights Illinois). My cousin's birthday party.
The last full stage aside from Vegas is in the Chuck E Cheese right down the street from me. They just announced it's finally leaving. All the animatronics work, all the stuff plays, it's sad to see it go.
Wanted to chime in on the abrupt closing part of this all because its a little too close to home for me. In college I worked at a go kart place and we literally closed overnight. A similar scenario of none of the employees having any idea, not even our managers. I worked the last day there having no idea it was our last day. The regional manager came in the next day and told our manager we were closed, and they IMMEDIATELY brought crews in to rip the place apart. Which absolutely means they knew in advance we were closing and didn't even have the decency to tell any of us. I sadly think corporations do this far more often than we realize to poor minimum wage workers. What sucked the most is there was also a similar non-refundable thing for any gift cards or races people had bought at our location (the holidays had literally just happened so we sold a ton of gift cards). The closest location to ours was over 3 hours away in another state!!
Listen, as an adult who actually still loves Chuck E Cheese (don't judge me, I love being able to slay those little arcade games.. and the pizza??? chefs kiss) this one hurt. So sorry to the kiddos AND the parents!
First Toys R Us and now the Chuck E. Cheese’s are closing down? It is sad, that my own future children won’t get these experiences that I enjoyed as a kid.
The one I went to growing up in Blaine, MN is still open. If you don't mind driving 200 miles :) There's also on in Maple Grove which is right off I-94
Scott you are very right about the Chuck E Cheese fans being REALLY into it. I don't know all the locations or all the ones that have animatronics left but I do know a lot of history
7:56 you’re very right about this Scott. My very best friend and I went through a similaire sort of whiplash with this restaurant we had been going to for years since we were children (and our parents had been going before we were even born). It wasn’t on the level of something like Chuck E. Cheese in the fact that it was just a restaurant, but it held a really special place in our hearts, plus the decor in there was So eclectic and wild; it was just a really special place. We always went there for each others birthdays or to celebrate any big occasion. We both moved away from our home town several years ago, but during our most recent meet-up, we got in the car and headed to the restaurant to find a sign on the door saying they had closed. It was a sad moment for both of us….
I also have two boys and they only go to Chuck E Cheese when my parents bring them. It's such a shell of what it was: no play-place, no animatronics, I dont even know that our location has a walk-around Chuck. And so many of the games are on a screen. It just bums me out.
I had a similar loss. In Milwaukee, we had a place called Stonefire Pizza. It was to the level of what Space Aliens would be. Just a couple months ago, the venue closed without warning. I loved going there when I was a kid.
Come on down to St. Cloud and see how many car washes, storage facilities and Mexican restaurants we got... But on the plus side, while you're there, we could go to Chuck E. Cheese with the kids.
When I was growing up, my family and I would go to a Friendly’s (idk if they’re regional, but it’s basically a diner chain that‘s known for its ice cream) in the next town over. My brother is on the spectrum and ate very few foods, but he always loved the food he ate there. We were regulars to the point where as soon as we walked in, a waitress pointed at my brother and recited his incredibly specific fribble (milkshake) order before going into the kitchen to put in the order. They also knew that I had trouble ordering due to social anxiety, and would noticeably shift to a more gently voice when asking me what I wanted to eat. When I was in high school it just suddenly shut down, the sign was gone and everything. I knew some people working there and heard that they found out only a few days prior (it might have even been the day before it happened, but I’m not sure). 6 years later, the building is still empty, except for the lost memories of ice cream and mozzarella sticks :(
Minnesota does the same thing with turning old restaurants into Mexican restaurants! We had an Olive Garden and, after it closed, a few months later it turned into El Tequila.
Hi Scott, I am also a junior in high school whose first job is at Chuck E. Cheese (I actually started there a few weeks ago!) Just know that when one Stephanie closes, another one opens
I paused the video towards the end to yell at my kids to "open the door please." Unpause to hear "another door opens" and my wife laughed harder than she has in a while. Thanks for that c:
Chuck-E always creeped me out as a kid, especially with the anamotronics. But as someone else stated, there really does need to be more places for kids that dont threaten their parents with bankruptcy.
Working at chuck e cheese showed me.That corporate has basically given up on the family friendly atmosphere and cheap chuck e cheese was a day of the two years I work there. They raise prices A lot in just little increment. Then, since most of the staff are high schoolers, they don't really care about the job so the Management gives up extremely quickly with Trying to get them to do the job.
Perfect Merch Idea: T-Shirt, on the front its quoting "I'm sorry I didn't come out I was too busy missing that magical rat." On the back its a Chuck E Cheese logo but instead its Scott's face and says: Scott E. Cramer
I love these kinds of videos! This and the fairs and stuff. It’s cool to get a little taste of what it’s like for you out there. Especially since so many TH-camrs live in LA. I also live in a bit city so I love seeing these types of things! 11:27
That's funny, I live in a pretty small town in Texas and about the only thing that ever pops up is also somehow Mexican food restaurants, car washes, gas stations, and donut shops.
when i was little i hated the chuck costume lol, when he wasnt out i would constantly be glancing at the door and run to hide behind my mom when he came out
I love how they accidentally used the stephanie's name title for the second lady, so then the following dude got the second lady's name title of elizabeth
I went to the Fargo location twice and that got me really into Chuck E. Cheese as a kid. Any time my family was driving into Fargo and I saw the big "Chuck E. Cheese this way" billboard I got excited. RIP Fargo location.
That happend to a restaurant that I worked at. One day my boss called me randomly and was basically like "uhhh, we are closed permanently, don't come to work tonight." It was pretty fucked because he knew well in advance that it was going to happen.
It’s unfortunate, but they had it coming. They got the one-two punch of the rise of Five Nights at Freddy’s making the concept of animatronics, their primary brand appeal, killing you, alongside Covid generally making life harder for restaurants. Arcades have also been on the decline for decades as phones have generally replaced the kinds of games that used to be there.
Jokes aside, there aren't many places left where "a kid can be a kid." Part of a larger discussion about the lack of third spaces.

Teen hangouts are all gone or no longer affordable to adults let one teenagers. When I was in high school the movie theater by me had cheap Tuesday tickets and we could see a movie and go to steak and shake after for less than $10. And that was only 10 years ago
"When I put on the mask, I'm no longer Scott... I'm the Mask-Scott"
This is the comment I was looking for lol
Scott, as a fellow North Dakotan, you should know that 177 miles is just a quick trip down the road! Minot also has the "is this new business a mexican restaurant or car wash" debate every time something is being built haha
When Scott mentioned wanting to be a mascot when he was younger I had an immediate intrusive thought of "He should commission a fursuit" and for some reason I felt that was a thought that needed to be shared.
Chuck E Cheese merch idea
“Fargo Chuck E Cheese closure survivor “
With the quote "The worst part is the loss of the magical rat -stephanie"
Missing out on that magical rat 😞💔
Fr it feels like I got so lucky being a 90s kid. I just barely made it to adulthood before things went to crap for kids.
Think outside the box a little; maybe it'll become a Mexican Carwash.
Maybe Chuck-E’s Carwash?
being scared of the chuck e cheese animatronics is a rite of passage our kids wont get to experience,
Ok, you had me cracking up when you talked about car washes. My home town, Harlingen, TX is starting to get filled up with carwashes. SO much that people have designed a new town logo which has the Letter H, to show a car going in between the H with the Text: Come Wash Your Car in Harlingen
As a chuck e cheese person, I can confirm. We are REALLY into it.
To me, both Scott's channels are equally enjoyable. The joke about it being a lady in there had me in tears.
Listen, as an adult who actually still loves Chuck E Cheese (don't judge me, I love being able to slay those little arcade games.. and the pizza??? chefs kiss) this one hurt. So sorry to the kiddos AND the parents!
I think there’s a Chuck E Cheese’s cookbook, you should throw a party and cook from the book!
There's also videos of Pasqually cooking the pizza ! He could def look at those for reference
You gotta do the cooking by the book! Lil Jon told me so
First Toys R Us and now the Chuck E. Cheese’s are closing down? It is sad, that my own future children won’t get these experiences that I enjoyed as a kid.
The one I went to growing up in Blaine, MN is still open. If you don't mind driving 200 miles :)
There's also on in Maple Grove which is right off I-94
I thought the newscaster was gonna say Maple Grove, honestly didn't even know St. Cloud has one
@@roth1038 Same but then again I don't go to St. Cloud very often lol. It's one of those places I only drive through sometimes.
Buy the building, open a new arcade, and be the new maScott.
Either that, or convince Space Aliens to open a new location there.
If you want to live the Chuck E. Cheese lifestyle:
1. Eat pizza
2. Play arcade games
3. Be in band
These truly are unprecedented times.
Scott you are very right about the Chuck E Cheese fans being REALLY into it. I don't know all the locations or all the ones that have animatronics left but I do know a lot of history
is everyone at chuck e cheese named stephanie
The shirt reads “Gone but not forgotten, you magical rat”
The sarcastic outrage really helps me not feel bad for the employees , thank you 😅
I can’t believe the got rid CHUCK “Magical Rat” CHEESE 😢😢😢😢😢😢
First the Whimsical Gorilla now the Magical Rat
It's good that a guy named Elizabeth got to tell us what he thinks.
maybe chuck e. cheese is the scott we made along the way
“People who are really into Chuck E. Cheese are REALLY into Chuck E. Cheese” @ ME AND CIGAR SMOKIN CHUCK NEXT TIME SCOTT.
“I went to Chuck E Cheese and all I got was this ‘Sorry We’re Closed’ sign”
I love the sense of belonging you have to your home town! very sweet
T-shirt: "Missing My Magical Rat."
I love how Sam's was calling two $25 gift cards for $50 an "EXTREME DEAL!"
I'll miss that magical Rat.
Hi Scott, I am also a junior in high school whose first job is at Chuck E. Cheese (I actually started there a few weeks ago!) Just know that when one Stephanie closes, another one opens
omg the chuck e. cheese closed here near me in south dakota too, my friends worked there and they got less than a weeks notice.
I paused the video towards the end to yell at my kids to "open the door please." Unpause to hear "another door opens" and my wife laughed harder than she has in a while. Thanks for that c:
7:32 Finally someone else who was petrified by the animatronics band during childhood.
Chuck-E always creeped me out as a kid, especially with the anamotronics.
But as someone else stated, there really does need to be more places for kids that dont threaten their parents with bankruptcy.
I’ve only been to the magical rat place 3 times, and I got food poisoning from it 3 times. Good memories, I’ll miss it.
In this modern day America there really isn't that many places where a kid can just be a kid anymore. Toys R Us, Chuckie cheese, what's next.
Cramer
I too, am a concerned citizen
I love when you post Fargo-specific content! It makes me feel like I'm living in a very exciting place.
I just randomly saw your video in my recommended thread, it’s surprising to see a TH-camr from my hometown with thousands of subscribers.
Scott actually seems like he’s holding back tears in the intro but he still has to make the video professional.
That happend to a restaurant that I worked at. One day my boss called me randomly and was basically like "uhhh, we are closed permanently, don't come to work tonight." It was pretty fucked because he knew well in advance that it was going to happen.
Somehow my local chuck e is still open for business. I’ve literally never seen more than 2 cars outside of it since 2011 lol
