However, when I began to watch more of his content, I began to appreciate the value he is giving to aspiring and junior devs as well as seeing him as very nice and respectful person. God bless you @ The Primeagen!!

I work in a totally different industry but programming was one of my hobbies and now I use it to build tools to reduce the workload for me and my colleagues. It's so satisfying to see people using the software you built and actually having an impact in their work. That... money can't buy. Thank you Prime! You're a good human being!

It’s been a couple years but my first impression wasn’t that great. I thought he was annoying. Over the last year, my respect and admiration for him has increased and just keeps rising. We need more people in the world like him.
He gets really high energy and some of the chat memes get a bit tiresome but he has some nuggets of wisdom and he's been through some tough times. I generally try to watch his videos but the streams are too much for me. I wish him the best!

In order to get a job, you need people to believe in you as well. If nobody had believed he was capable, he wouldn’t have gotten a job at Netflix. That’s what I mean.
@@goncalomoura7628 Nobody believed in him. As he mentioned, his grandmother removed him from the family's will when he was 18. His teacher wrote a letter saying that he was the worst student ever. Also, he had a lot of other issues that he mentioned in other situations, really sad stuff, so what I mean is, he only had himself. And betting in yourself when no one believes in you, must be really, really tough. But you are the only one who can do it.
I didn't know his calculus story. Although I never was described as a bad student, I never academically succeeded and I ended up taking a second run at calculus during a summer semester. I worked hard my first time and I worked even harder my second time. I've never worked so hard before or frankly since. I ended up scraping through calculus... If effort and time were reliable measures I should have done a lot better. It definitely hurt my ability to back myself. But I've persisted... Progress has been slow, but it could be worse. I've just started a new job recently and it definitely challenges a few of my weakest points - but the reason I took the job is because I knew I had to back myself and it seemed like a good opportunity to finally take that step into a more senior/lead role. Even if I don't end up with a lead/senior title while working there (a rocky start unfortunately) I am confident that by the time I finish, I should be set up to step into a senior role. Again, slow, but it could be worse.
In some places any academical subject is designed for you to fail. The language is as abstract as possible and if you ask for a simpler explanation you are met with superiority and disgust and the answer is: Get smarter or there's no way I can explain it to you. Teachers are determined to make you feel small and they have zero interest in making the material talk to you. I remember doing genetic programming which is simple and nice. You start with different random solutions and you modify a number, combine them (they are pretty much arrays) and such, easy stuff. But if you read the course material, even 10 years after finishing my courses, I couldn't understand anything of it.
I think the main reason why PHP community is nice to each other is that because they all went through a difficult path in their life, choose php to start a new path and struggle through the way. They feel for each other and help alot, willingly.
