Even my husband, who didn’t grow up playing with Barbies, is looking forward to this movie. We need more movies that are just plain good stupid pointless fun. Not everything needs to be serious or have deep meanings. Give us something to laugh at and have a good time with. My god, we need more laughs in this world. 😁
while i agree 100% that there should be more fun unserious movies, it’s almost inevitable that they will have a deeper meaning. it’s just how the human brain works, we question things that don’t need to be questioned. so even if the Barbie movie is for good stupid pointless fun, we’re probably gonna see a lesson or the deeper meaning of the whole movie.
I agree. This seems like this is the first time in a while where we just get a fun and pointless comedy film. I've never grew up with any barbies either but this film seems like great fun and I can't wait for it.
Let's hope The Barbie Movie team doesn't spoil things with some "woke" bullshit, because THAT seems to be the trend with mainstream movies for the past six or seven years. i think that is what worries me most:
To spend my hard-earned money just to be propagated.
If they hide their agendas well enough, i guess it won't be so bad.

I have four boys and I'm pretty sure we were all sold on the movie when Ken says he takes his rollerblades everywhere lol. It just looks like fun!
I, respectfully, disagree about using the 'Margot Robbie' face mold. I think the face looks fabulous! And Margot Robbie deserves to be honored as Producer and Star of the movie for this new wave of global love for 'Barbie'. Mattel and 'Barbie' have always evolved to welcome new and different incarnations to the line, and I think this is just the latest one. Love you, Joey!
So fun!! I saw the movie dolls in the store for the first time yesterday, and i kinda freaked out! 44 year old lady yelling to her husband "look at her dress!! And Ken is fully articulated!!" It's just the perfect summery excitement. I wish we still had a drivein in the area, that would be extra perfect!! 💕🩷💕🩷💕

I’m so glad some of the quality is coming back! The first doll is so cute. Theres a My First Barbie from the 80s that has a pink and white checkered dress that reminds me of her dress. Both pretty dolls!! I love the boxes as well. The pink is BACK and the logo too!!!
I saw the barbie movie yesterday and I liked it! It was nostalgic and quite emotional and deep at times and had some important messages especially as a girl/woman living in this world. I recommend it for any barbie fan! 💕

I already have tickets for this movie. So exited. I was always a tomboy but I liked Barbie because she did stuff. She had jobs, the rode horses, and drove cars. To me she was an action figure. I am super keen for this film. My friends and I are are also wearing pink in celebration of the icon Barbie is. I hope everyone has a ball with this film.
yes the movie seems to be the event of the summer, and the trailers i've seen so far are fantastic! great casting. Joey enjoy the film (vlog a little of your theater experience please!) and i can't wait for your review of it!!

Oooh, I enjoy doll repainting as an art hobby, so I'm definitely gonna get the pink one, and repaint it to look more like Margot Robbie! I would make her some new hair to make it look softer and more accurate, and I would definitely add an underskirt to poof out the dress a bit (side note: From what we can tell from the trailers/marketing, it seems like the movie is going to be self-aware, which I think will work to its advantage)
I agree about the pink dress. Even in the movie previews you can see her petticoat as she floats down to her car. The doll dress needs the petticoat as well.
These are the exact 2 dolls I bought, & I've washed & conditioned both heads of hair at this point. The gingham Barbie had bad frizzies out of the box, & I didn't like the stiff curls on the blue plaid Barbie. I have to say, the more expensive doll has MUCH thicker, full, more vibrant hair than does the gingham doll. Also, the pricey doll, once her product was washed & conditioned out, has stunning waves & curled ends now, her hair is quite long, & she looks fabulous. The gingham doll's frizzies went away, & her hair is pretty as well (I swept the bangs to one side, so you can see much more of her face), but the volume of hair is half what the blue plaid doll has! That doll is just gorgeous, all around. If you do wash the product from those hard curls, you will see what I mean. Excellent video!
Yes, I understand what you mean. I like the original mold on Barbie dolls no matter what the character Mattel creates. These dolls are so beautiful. I always enjoy watching your videos, Joey. These dolls are lovely but way too expensive for that they are. At least here in the UK anyway, I was going to try and get a few until I saw how expensive they were on amazon and most of them are sold out on Mattel creations. I think they are priced better in the USA.
Wish they didn't have that creepy joker like smile. The best one is the president because she has the best face.

These two dolls are gorgeous! I love that they are giving us dolls that are giving Barbie the way Barbie should! I am so eager to watch the movie too!
I wish the second doll had some solid color trim or belt or something to add a little bit of contrast. I'm not a huge fan of the entire outfit being the same pattern, but other than that, she's prefect!
The pink checkered one and Ken came out in a really fun display at Walmart. I have left them in box. Beautiful display box as you showed. Later on I’ll open them.
I am so excited to see the Barbie Movie!!! And even more excited to share the experience with my 21 year old daughter who was a huge Barbie kid when she was little and still helps me set up my displays. She even helped me create my witchy room display I did last fall. (Hopefully she'll help me with my next doll room project...Christmas!) I do wish the dolls were at a more affordable price for me. I just can't make myself spend $50 on a single doll. But I will be getting the dolls that are at the $25 price.

The blue and pink version is my favorite one too. I haven't seen a movie in theaters for around 10 years I think, but I totally want to go see the Barbie movie! I'm gonna wear a super cute matchy Barbie core outfit for sure. 😆 But I'm not sure which one yet lol but seeing the hearts on the shoes, thinking I ought to wear my white wedges with pink hearts on the toes and my long pastel pink wig. ☺️ So excited! Now I wonder if I can find a date? 😅
I didn’t attend the movie but I did get the car and the doll which was sold at the theater. This is iconic. I live in a small town so this was spectacular!!!✨🌸✨🌸✨ great review!!! I hope you enjoy the movie!!!

they did an amzeing job with these dolls the quality that has lacked in barbies fow a while so i'm so happy with how good look the quality is there she has articulation so good! i hope the qulity stays this good for all barbies and not just for the movie dolls also her face is gorgous as well i was so scared about the faces so i'm happy that they don't look bad as i thought they where going to! i can't wait to go see the movie!!!

something that i didn't notice until now was the patern in the skirt of the pink dress changes depending on the pleading!! in the outside are squares but in the inside are Xs!! very interesting because is one piece of fabric!!
I never grew up with official Barbie media, but as a fan of Greta Gerwig, I’m Excited for the movie.
ALSO: this might be the first successful big screen fashion doll movie since Jem was a financial disaster & Bratz came & went.

Hi Joey! Your dolls are so adorable. 💕 I managed to get the Barbie in the pink dress and a Ken as well. Too bad they didn’t make him look like Ryan Gosling. I agree that Barbie could have bigger hair. I found it seemed dry even after brushing. Yes a petty coat like in the movie when she jumps out of her house. I cannot believe they didn’t include it. I miss the snap legs as well but she is well articulated. Your videos are so much fun! Thanks for sharing this. I hope you love the movie😃

I purchased both of these dolls. I haven't taken them out of the box yet. I didn't know it was a top and skirt on the plaid on. I was wondering if it was a top and skirt or bathing suit and skirt. Great review. I was thinking of switching the gingham dress to the deluxe doll. Thanks for the information. I loved it.
Good to know there's a reason for the higher price between the dolls. Even my mom commented on how cute the gingham dress is. I might have to get her now and make her a crinoline. (Great impromptu language lesson. 🙂)

I would love to see a tutorial on how you put the elastic hair bands on the shoes to hold them on. As for the Barbie movie, I’m very excited to see it, but I’m going to have to wait a few days after release because I have to have some dental work done and I know I’m going to want popcorn.

My favourite colour is pink and ever since the Barbie movie came out, everyone in public said that I look like Barbie becuase, I am blonde, Blue eyes and wear a pink Button up sweater. I also have part of my hair pink.

edit: big agree on the face mold tho, imo a more classic mold would've been preferred. they just didn't manage to do the actress (who's stunning) justice and the mold looks a bit off all in all.

I don't mind the face as much, I think the bangs are just really weird and I think that's throwing the whole look off for me, plus she really needs something under her skirt to make it bigger. Easy fixes though, I don't usually like to take dolls out of their box, so I am definitely going to buy 2 of the pink ones so I can take one out and fix her up better. Overall I happy with them and I think the boxes are so cute and I'm so glad that they made the boxes look so good. I don't have the white one or the other ones yet either but she looks really cute and a little bit more quality.
