You have such a beautiful friendship! Also, I loved the chat about etiquette- my Mom raised me the same way to always bring a host/hostess gift. However, you always seem extra thoughtful with surprise gifts to sweets for friends. It’s a really lovely quality - it inspires me to try and be more thoughtful too.
