You are witnessing the exact foundation pioneering of two different major genres, Hip/Hop and Electronic music, and all of today’s DJs and electronic creators and beat makers know they stand on the shoulders of Kraftwerk! And everyone loved this when it was released, it was something new that we had never heard before, it was played on the radio, at the clubs , everywhere!

I'm sad for the future. I find your reaction to be more evidence that today's youth has no patience or ability to grasp the art of the recent past.
I find myself coming back to this song from time to time. It's so creative, different, and unique.
To go from numbers recited in different languages in the first half to come together in the "Computer World" to make the electronic world we live in today.
To not give a track a few minutes before you fast forwarded or a second chance to make sense of what you heard is tragedy of the times we live in.
Best of luck to the future if you're unable to respect the past.

It's the fact that nobody else at the time was making music like Kraftwerk. The way the drums sound, the melodic sequences and the sounds on the synths, the vocoders, just the overall aesthetic of Kraftwerk was alien and new, and totally ahead of their time.
Even to this day; they're known as ACTUAL art, rather than a normal ''band''. THE pioneers in electronic music.

This is breakdancing music from the 1980's (though probably not by intention). Kraftwerk was from overseas but they had at least a couple of songs, including this one, that were worthy contributions to the breakdancing scene back then. Their "Trans Europe Express" song was the other classic by them. I don't recall this being a mainstream hit or anything, but got airplay on American Black radio, This was a pretty cool song back then. (Still is, at least to my ears.)
English avant-garde, synth-pop group Art of Noise (AON) was another overseas group doing electronic type songs with a street beat, that were popular on American Black radio stations, especially their quirky instrumental ballad, "Moments In Love" (at least two versions exist: AON's original 10+ minute version, and AON's more updated smooth jazz version); and breakdance bangers "Beat Box" and "Close To The Edit". Not sure if the latter two songs would be your style as they are very beats-heavy, but you might appreciate and considering reacting to at least the original "Moments In Love" as that became a long-time standard on Black Urban Contemporary radio in the '80s.

I was mesmerized by this strange video and I've never forgotten the impact it had on me. Also, all the cool cats were playing Kraftwerk Numbers on the IU campus the summer of 1981.

Us Brits always rave about 80's UK electro pop, but we owe it all to Kraftwerk. As mentioned in the other comments, alot of 80's breakdance music owes a lot to them as well. They were the original innovators of electro pop, and were revolutionary at the time. Their music hits differently today though, because their sound has been built upon and improved by other artists. So much of that originality is lost.

If you didn't get this particular track, don't give up on them because they have some bangers. They were a huge influence on Depeche Mode and just the electronic music scene as a whole.

The secret sauce for many early B-boy mix masters - many dance battles before the breakdancing era were settled to this tune and others from Kraftwerk. (If you stop and think about it, the idea of kids from the hood diggin' in crates & making music from R&B, funk, soul jazz, and electronic music samples - including songs from these 4 German guys - was pretty remarkable. The musical universe ushered in by hip hop was just unreal...)

Electronic music as it's known today pretty much all flows out of Kraftwerk. Computer World was their fourth album released in 1981. If you're willing to take another taste, check out their songs "The Model", "Computer World", and "Showroom Dummies", or slap on their 1974 album, Autobahn, and enjoy the ride.

Its creative but kind of out of context. Its one track from a concept album called Computer World.
Numbers is cold, with not much soul. But so are numbers. They are calculative. They know no emotion. They are numbers.

Man! Apparently, the concept of a concept album is not very familiar to you. Kraftwerk is in a way a continuation of European art music, works composed for a symphony orchestra. Pink Floyd is similar. The concept album is one work, the songs unfold in relation to other songs, contrasts are important. Of course, you can listen to a song from that and another from here, but then something important might be missing. If I remember correctly, one of the members of Kraftwerk once said something like that, that Kraftwerk is a composition of beautiful European melodies and, on the other hand, Stockhausen's modernism AND Funk.

    Good morning,
May I suggest an incredible and UNIQUE artist? His name’s Stromae. Here are a few of his artworks (they genuinely are): (Racine carrée Album, 2013) Papaoutai, Tous les mêmes, Formidable, Ta fête, Carmen, Quand c’est, Ave Cesaria.
(Multitude Album, 2022): Fils de joie, L’enfer, Santé, La solassitude.
No further details, I sincerely believe one needs to discover and dive into Stromae’s universe through his music (writing, composition, arrangement, production are all his) before doing some digging about him.
Important detail: not only the piece of music but also the lyrics and the music video are essential, they’re a whole, so make sure you choose the original music video for each song.
    Hope you’ll enjoy!
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
In the meantime, happy new year & take care!

These guys were laying the grown work for hip hop and rap. For a person who is good at writing lyrics, especially rap, these sounds would bring out so many ideas. But for some people they just hear the sound and enjoy it raw which is also amazing because it’s electronic music.

KRAFTWERK are considered one of the GOD fathers of Electronic Music and New Wave music starting in the late 1970's. Their influence is immeasurable. Nothing like this had been heard of at the time. Go listen to the Live version of Numbers which isn't as Monotone.

@@JustJammin Fair enough. Each to their own. Check out the song Computer Love, or The Model. More straightforward electropop/dance. Google their influence on Hip-hop, dance and electronic music. Years ahead of the musical pack. They're possibly the most influential band in modern musical history.
Much of what Kraftwerk does involves repetition and the subtle building of layers. The result seems simple until you actively listen and break down what is actually going on. They produce complex melodic pieces that will stick in your brain. The concept of using repetition is kinda Zen-like. If you surrender to it and don't expect dramatic drops it's immensely rewarding. It's a whole different style of listening to what mainstream music has programmed us to do.

It wouldn’t have been bad to if you were familiar with Krathwerk’s music the are considered the fathers of Electronic music
Especially early 80s Electro Hip Hop
Like the African Bambatta and Soul Sonic Force’s Planet Rock (which is based off of Krathwerk’s Trans Europe Express) and Looking for the Perfect Beat
Who ever suggested you react to Krathwerk most definitely should’ve suggested their song Trans Europe Express as a first listen because that the song released in 1977 that got the Black community and Early Hip Hop community on to Krathwerk’s music
Influencing The Soul Sonic Force, Planet Patrol, and Nucleus
among many others in early 80’s Electro Hip Hop
I’m not sure how you take reaction requests but I would like to give you one give you one
The Electro Hip Hop group Nucleus ( from Jam On It fame )
Has a song called Computer Age (Push the Button)..based off of this Krathwerk song and it’s a perfect example of what you get when you marry cold German Electronic music with Funky New York Hip Hop ( Planet Rock is too but I’m sure you know that one )
Nucleus’s Computer Age not only rocks but it’s almost prophetic in it’s warning of how the burgeoning Computer age in the early 80s could in the future go wrong
And as we can see now in 2022 how Social media via the internet can divide whole nations against each other and algorithms used in medical technology can make life and death decisions for average people lead to disparities by race and income levels

Believe I don't think JJ wouldn't care for trans Europe express either may think its cool for the sound effects. I've watch JJ long enough and he really don't care for this genre now there are exceptional he liked. Buts it's ok he doesn't have to care for what we had enjoyed he is being honest with his opinion I appreciate it

@@sugarspice1689 perhaps he wouldn’t like TEE
But there’s nothing wrong with giving kicking him some extra knowledge about the music he reacts to
Hell if this was the first song I heard of Krathwerk’s I’d have the same reaction he did
But it wasn’t it was TEE and that how I gained perspective on what they were about allowing me to appreciate them and those influenced by them
If nothing else my comment gives him a little musical history which helps inform him of the music folks are requesting he react to
I think JJ’s reaction channel is THE BEST of all the Reaction channels and I totally appreciate his honest reactions
But I don’t feel the need to passively watch and say nothing or not give context or history to the reactions
After all there is a comments section so it’s a two way street
He reacts we comment and I’ve watched him long enough to know he can handle it and appreciates it
