@vonBatFilms: A popular consequential argument against Marxism is that it does not offer solutions to the problems of capitalism. What people however fail to understand is that Marxism needn't be viewed in its orthodox sense that there is an inevitability of socialism, as even mr. patnaik, in this video, points out. Marxism merely proposes the laws underlying the capitalist mode of production. These laws have been used by both Communists, to attack capitalism, and capitalists (Keynes and Robinson) to protect it. The Left, furthermore, encompasses a very important aspect of humanism, i.e., equality of opportunity, something that capitalism can never achieve. For neo liberal economists, inequality isn't a problem as it will be "naturally solved". It is not a matter of who has the answers. The more important question is, who has the right questions from where one can proceed.

Even I listen to his lectures for his diction value, his extempore speaking, level of erudition that his lectures carried, and the range of historical insights his talk had and even today he is such a gem of a scholar that I have always felt like listening to him over and over again wistfully...

@VonBatfilms now that you are aware of problems like food crisis why dont you propose solutions. If not why criticise others?

Hegemony, Imperialism, Capital, are all but few words these fella use so extensively that they don't make any sense. Why all this prevarication why don't you just say what's the alternative. Like to the food issue he has mentioned. What mode of production do you suggest that the new farmers or the agrarian producers should endorse to increase the food production of the world? fact the only answer they knew was "Look at USSR" and now that USSR has gone they are just clueless. It's all just Theory

i think we can't think about socialism until there is base for it and there is possibility in capitalism because production forces are still improving under capitalism...
