The Roundtable Live! 2020: USIC

We were proud to have USIC as a sponsor of "The Roundtable Live!" this year! We truly appreciate every company who came out despite the pandemic precautions, and performed the work that goes on everyday at real job sites. Personally the funniest part about working for usic is when homeowners and contractors think they know where all their utilities are lmao and as a hand dig I appreciate locators that do their best to get me a spot to dig on which could be either really shallow or super deep

This is all great in theory. However as a utility locator for 21 years, getting a contractor who is digging on the phone can sometimes be quite difficult. Usually it’s a secretary who doesn’t know much about the dig. That’s why we like to request field meetings like the one in this video. Also sending a site plan and pre-marking in white paint should be mandatory. It is not mandatory here in New York State that is some thing I wish they would change. Great videos 👍

I quit after four months. I did not like it at all. 10 hour days plus 8 hours every other Saturday. I hated going onto people’s property. And dogs. And the possibility of snakes.

I hope not all of his field meets go that way lol. I know it’s awkward in front of a camera but I definitely would have asked to walk the site and discuss what the prints show is in each spot and where the challenging areas are
