That’s exactly what I was thinking. Logically, the Dromeosaurs were more than obviously targeting the young since they would more than likely be killed by the adults if they did.
I just started watching your channel (specifically the “MANY interpretations of” videos), and I’m loving them so far! I’m pretty happy that Edmontosaurus got one as it doesn’t get as much appreciation as it’s cousin Parasaurolophus. Here are some I’m hoping you get to eventually. Velociraptor Giganotosaurus Triceratops Stegosaurus Brachiosaurus Pteranodon Quetzalcoatlus Mammoth Megalodon (and maybe other extinct sharks) Plesiosaurus Mosasaurus Terror Bird (If you do this one, I think you should include the Carakiller from The Future Is Wild. It’s technically really a bird that evolved to look like the Terror Birds through convergent evolution, but I think you can still count it)
Here are a few interpretations of Edmontosaurus that I remember: Dinosaurs: The Terrible Lizards (1970) - A stop motion dinosaur documentary. Here, it's referred to as Anatosaurus and is depicted walking upright, dragging its' tail, having webbed feet & living in water/swamps. The Magic School Bus (S2E3: The Busasaurus) - In this episode, Miss Frizzle's class encounters a small herd with babies. The purpose of this portion of the episode is to show that Dinosaurs aren't savage, killing monsters but to show that some of them were caring/nurturing parents. The audience even get to see the nest, eggshells & the mother feeding her babies. Valley of the T. Rex (2001) - Made by the same animation company that made When Dinosaurs Roamed America, it reuses many of the same models & is infamous for perpetuating the idea that Tyrannosaurus was a pure scavenger. Edmontosaurus (both the Anatotitan model & a new model) appear in the special. The Anatotitan model is shown being hunted/killed by a Tyrannosaurus & then shown minding its' own business later in the scavenger segment. The newer model is shown being attacked by a pack of Dromaeosaurs. Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis (2003) - Edmontosaurus is one of the various dinosaurs that can be created for your park. It's a 3-Star Dinosaurs & its' fossils can be excavated in the Hell Creek Formation Site B dig site (along with Triceratops & Pachycephalosaurus). Here, it's depicted being mostly Yellow with Black Vertical Stripes along the back, Black Horizontal Stripes on its' limbs & a faded Green/Orange Horizonal Stripes running along the side of its' body. The noises it makes are possibly sped up/higher pitched whale sounds?
There’s also the ones that I remember, such as: The Lost World (1925). Journey to the Beginning of Time [1950 (portrayed as Trachodon)]. A kids series with the Spanish/Latino title called “Erase una vez… El Hombre”, being portrayed as Anatosaurus. The Dinosaucers (portrayed by one of the the villains of the series). And finally, one of the last episodes of “The Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries” titled “Prehisterics”. Edit: Oh, yeah! He was also present in the History Channel documentary, “First Apocalypse”. Honestly, Edmontosaurus has appeared more in media than Parasaurolophus has ever did. Edit of the edit: I forgot that he also appears in “Animal Armageddon”; I checked the comments and someone has already mentioned “Waking the T.rex: A story of Sue”.
@@gabrieljvelez-perez9275 Just thought of a few more interpretations of Edmontosaurus: The Land Before Franchise (1988 Onward) - While unidentified, I do believe that Edmontosaurus has made various appearances throughout the series as a minor background character. The Lost World: Jurassic Park (Arcade Game/1997) - This was a light gun arcade game made by SEGA that came out around the same time as the film it was based on. Depending on the difficulty chosen by the player, Edmontosaurus (or Parasaurolophus) would appear during the Lake Segment of the game. Discovery Channel's The Ultimate Guide: Tyrannosaurus Rex (1996) - Edmontosaurus was featured briefly throughout some of the episode's segments. Animal Armageddon (2009) - Edmontosaurus was featured (albeit, vaguely identified as a Hadrosaur) in the episodes; Doomsday (S1E3) & Panic in the Sky (S1E4).

@@nateperez7768 Pretty sure it was an Edmontosaurus. It was too big to be a Maiasaura, the head was the wrong shape for Maiasaura but the correct shape for Edmontosaurus & it also lacked Maiasaura's signature crests above the eyes. Maiasaura would've also been extinct by 67 million years (the episode's setting) but Edmontosaurus would've been present by this time.
The WWD movie version was one of the most colorful ones along with Prehistoric Planet, those are my favorites. Really looking forward to the many interpretations of Tyrannosaurus Rex cuz THATS my #1 favorite
I was introduced to Edmontosaurus in Jurassic world Evolution and Path of Titans, I have taken an interest in it and when I think of the Edmontosaurus I think of Annectes
In The Phantom Menace, there's a creature that looks a lot like Edmontosaurus called a kaadu. They're those armless dinos that the Gungans ride. Also, the Gungans themselves, Jar Jar included, looks a lot like Hadrosaurs.
Glad to see my favorite covered on this channel! It's quite nice to just see some fun, positive input on designs. I'll admit though that as much as I love Prehistoric Planet, their Edmontosaurus is a bit on the worse side as far as recent depictions go. The dip in the back is much more something associated with Barsboldia and Shantung, and the tail is quite short. The head and limbs, along with general movement are almost immaculate though.
I agree that Edmontosaurus, and others like it, deserve better treatment than just being quick meals for predators. Although, I think that mindset is starting to die down, so hopefully we'll see stronger portrayals of these creatures. Can't wait for your T. rex video!
I really like the interpretations of Edmontosaurus, but I'll be honest, I'm preparing for the many interpretations of Tyrannosaurus video. Keep up the good work, sir.
Congrats for 10k subs! you deserved it Dino guy can’t wait for the evolution of tyrannosaurus rex and i know that will be a long video 🤣 Keep up the good work!
I really enjoyed this, after all Edmontosaurus is my favorite Hadrosaurid, Parasaurolophus comes in at 2nd for me, although two things for Edmontosaurus you missed is the Saurian design for Edmontosaurus, and Edmontosaurus also made a cameo in the Lost World: Jurassic Park arcade game where they can be seen moving around with Parasaurolophus & Gallimimus in the game so we kinda get a glimpse of how they probably would’ve looked if Edmontosaurus managed to make an official appearance in the movie, so now it’s not just a skull lol, also I’d say Shantungosaurus from the Isle is very similar to the biggest Edmontosaurus specimens.
I recently started loving edmontosaurus, especially E. annectens. Such a cool animal, with some E. annectens individuals such as "X-rex" reaching sizes of 15 meters and 10 tons.
I would be curious to see a video about "hellpigs"... but I honestly don't know if there are enough iterations of entelodontids in mass media to grant it a full lenght video... I can only remember 4 off the top of my head (WWB, the JW games, Dino-Riders and Rings of Power).
Missed out on the "Trachodon" in Kyoryu Tankentai Born Free episode 6. Kim Jong OOF has uploaded it to TH-cam (Kyōryū Tankentai Born Free Episode 06 'Love among the Dinosaurs'). Probably the only time a hadrosaur has been depicted as a dangerously aggressive megaherbivore.
4:21. This is also one of the few times a Hadrosaur is shown to fight back. It smacks a Tyrannosaur with it's tail, knocking it over. 10:53. Ok There's two models Nat Geo did. The one you see is from Dino Autopsy about Dakota the one in Dino-Death Trap/Bizarre Dinosaurs is a vastly different model
And then there's the Fossil Fighters one (still under the name Anatotitan), which is pretty much just Dinosaur Psyduck (yes I know ducks are technically already dinosaurs)
How did you feel about prehistoric planet's depiction of trex hunting edmontosaurus, they actually showed that 2 rexes were needed to bring down an adult Edmontosaurus
It was better. It was also a different situation, being in low light levels. I still want to see a rex struggle (or maybe fail) in a future hunt. Just to mix things up and show different sides of these animals we very seldom see.
After the many interpretations of T. Rex videos as I’m sure there will be more than one just like what happened with the Spinosaurus videos, I’d like to see these 26 following many interpretation videos: Giganotosaurus, Baryonyx, Yutyrannus, Dilophosaurus, Utahraptor & other Large Dromaeosaurids, Velociraptor & Deinonychus, Troodon & other Troodontids, Microraptor, Compsognathus & other Compsognathids, Hesperornis, Alamosaurus or just large Titanosaurids in general, Brachiosaurus, Triceratops, Styracosaurus, Pachyrhinosaurus, Stegosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, Gallimimus and also Struthiomimus/Ornithomimus, Oviraptor or just Oviraptorids in general, Thescelosaurus or just Neornithiscians in general, Pteranodon, Quetzalcoatlus, Deinosuchus, Mosasaurus, Plesiosaurus & also Elasmosaurus, & lastly Woolly Mammoths.
We've seen ceratopsians, stegosaurids and ankylosaurids defend themselves but we almost never see hadrosaurs defend themselves. We need some better representation in dino-media
Edmontosaurus is SO underrated. It’s really cool and NOT the helpless prey they’re portrayed to be. They probably kicked the shit out of many predators. Maybe like a bison today.
9:30 It would be cool to see an Ed. try to stay clear of the front of the rex and attempt a hip-check to knock over the predator. Maybe it succeeds. Maybe it doesn’t, because the tex co-evolved to be bulky and stable and pirouette to avoid the hip-check. Either way I’d like to see this type of interaction of grapple vs takedown in media, with the Ed. successfully taking down the rex, but the rex is still clamped on and using itself as deadweight so the Ed. will tire itself out trying to drag the rex like a buffalo trying to drag and kick a couple lions that have attached themselves and won’t let go.
I agree that hadrosaurs shouldn't be easily brought down by tyrannosaurs, but then again I feel they can defend themselves when cornered. We somewhat see that in 1985's Dinosaur! where the male Edmontosaurus faces off against a Rex that attempted to attack its offspring and it uses its tail to knock it down so the family can "escape". In the other appearances that involve Edmontosaurus, it mostly gets "caught off guard" and flees when frightened. It's the same with wildebeest when they're hunted by lions, they mostly run away but they ARE capable of defending themselves even if it's not always caught on camera.
Yeah sadly they have some difficult decisions wether to include it with shan't and corytho even though we already have a huge hadrosaur that can handle itself quite well against apex carnivores.
I agree with larger herbies needing to fight back more. In the Jurassic World game, a Rex can grab it by the neck, THROW IT up off its feet to the side and slam it down which kills it instantly. I always see large herb dinos like wolves hunting a moose or bison. They can do it, and have done it, but it takes a lot of skill, power, numbers and even days of patients and its normally because the animal is weak from the elements like harsh winters in Yellowstone, injured badly and already dying, or age like old or young. A wolf can't just grab a moose by the neck and kill it with one blood spilling bite. It usually is more effort than it's worth and a dinosaur should be no different. Even grizzly bears struggle with larger prey.
Wasnt it proven that Edmontosaurus and other hadrosaurs were faster and larger than their carnivore counterparts making it very difficult to catch and kill.
Prehistoric Planet literally made me want to hug an Edmontosaurus.
And Probably Be Aggressive And Crush You To Death Or Smthn
same
I would maybe hug a baby one, but I would be too afraid of an adult stepping on me
I wound love to hug one but did you forget they r extint now
Fun fact: there are two species of Edmontosaurus in Dinosaur King E. Annectens and E. Regalis
E.Annectens is called Anatotitan though
Saurian's Edmontosaurus has a serene yet imposing feel to it. It seems like a pushover, but it will Shrek you.
Ikr, plus it has a really beautiful design, especially the males, while also being one of the most paleontologically accurate designs.
I think the only time media had ever shown a herbivorous dinosaur actually putting up a solid fight against a predator was Littlefoot's mother in LBT.
There are definitely way more than that. In the Lost World 1925 they have a herbivorous dinosaur fending off a predator.
@@JurassicReptileI think by time media he means LBT media/the franchise
Two of ray harryhausen 's movie monsters fought a herbivorous dinosaur
I think the prehistoric planet Edmontosaurus was that the parents where scared for there babies and they made the rest of the herd uneasy
