My burnproof gear heavy caught fire on my rc2 at the last training session. This is pretty cool! What size electriduct did you get the 1.5? And for which supressor did you cover? And thanks for sharing!
I made a few of them and my results are the following: On my OCL Polo K the results were ok. That can can get pretty darn hot but yes it kept me from getting a burn or melting something I did not want to melt. On my 7.62 SiCo Velos it works very good. Now granted I don't do a lot of mag dumping but it works. If it burns up I have a whole roll of exhaust wrap a about 3 ft of silicone electric tube for another one or two. Cheers and thanks Just A Regular Guy!
Waiting on my 4th can now and been wanting to get a cover but just as everyone says here, I'm not trying to spend $150 on a cover so this video is a money saver lol. Much appreciated
I’ve manifold wrapped my pipes. Use gloves, soak it first, then wrap it and secure it with metal zip ties, let it dry, then spray it with manifold spray paint.
No way in hell I would pay a 150 and up for a suppressor cover. After shooting my suppressor I just zip tie square oven mitts around the can until it cools down enough to take it off and put it up. Total cost 💲2 bucks. The way this man makes his own is the smartest way to do it. I will definitely do this.
Do you have to remove the wrap first and mount the suppressor to the muzzle device, then use the paracord to tighten it down? Sorry for the dumb question. About to get my first SICO VELOS with the ASR mount. Great video man!
@@palumbo78 I leave mine on the suppressor and take the whole suppressor off with the wrap and everything. I then swap to another rifle. Do that answer your question

Excellent vid and idea. Question if you don't mind. With bare hands won't the fiberglass in the header wrap be a pain in the rear if you handle it with bare hands?
@JARG Sir, with all due respect, it's in the title "Fiberglass Heat Shield Tape"... It's absolutely fiberglass fibers woven into a cloth like Tape so it can be wrapped around headers and exhaust pipes.
I have been using a Mechanix Wear sleeve for a few weeks and it has worked well so far. I wouldn´t suggest holding onto the can after use but it puts a nice barrier between the can and your leg or bare skin and it´s very affordable. I would like to move up to something a little more heat reductive but it will do for the time being.
This is an awesome idea! Salute to you, sir! Question: the sizes that are listed for the exhaust heat tubing on Amazon; are those sizes the diameter of the exhaust tubing?
Thank you so much for this info! after all those months how often did you use this suppressor cover? did it still live or after a few range sessions the cover already broke down?
You should check out fiber blankets. I don’t know what they are made out of but I used to do glass blowing and we’d wrap up still semi glowing glass in them just fine with no smoking and burning and then never singed. Btw that is like 1,000-1,500 degrees
I bought the same stuff from Amazon and found your video looking for tips on install. I was hesitant bec of the Amazon reviews saying how bad the fiberglass was and the need for gloves, mask and a clean work space. You looked to have handled the wrap without gloves, did you presoak it or just handle it right from the package without any cuts or irritation?
What is a suppressor cover for, to reduce the heat signature only? Seems like it wouldn’t be great for the life of a suppressor to keep that heat trapped. I do think it is helpful if you need to detach and handle the suppressor, though.
You hit the nail on the head in your last sentence. Basically, the intent is to make it so if you brush your suppressor against things while it's hot, you aren't burning things or melting things onto your suppressor. Mainly, burning yourself or your gear/bags/clothes/gloves/hands
carbon felt welding blanket(1800f) 12x27 +13.99 kevlar thread 8.99.... maybe some carbon fiber cloth cover for looks... much higher temp and less insulative.... :) You want to to bleed heat fast but not get hot itself. This is a far better solution.
use a razor blade. Fold it double and tuck those ends so they don’t show before wrapping with paracord. Had mine now for around 5-6 years. It’s on a dead air sandman-k. Gets moved around on several rifles. Definitely stands up to the abuse.
The silicone tube is your issue here. ditch it! Buy our FR Sleeving and use that instead. Regardless, the headache you'll have overtime with this DIY solution, you might as well buy a bpg cover on sale. LOL Cool video though!
Ok. My question is why? I use suppressor wraps for my scoped rifles. But on my other guns, why? If I have to drop it, it always toss it to the side in a manner that always has the barrel away from me, which is natural. Military, contractor and law enforcement for 24 years now and never had to worry about burning myself on hot barrels or suppressors with the normal tactic. Here something folks don’t pay attention to with suppressors, especially older simpler suppressors. They weren’t designed to have the heat trapped and that’s what you’re doing. You’re going to literally cook some of the life out of your cans. Yes, they have a life expectancy. Scoped rifles don’t tend to get as hot due to not mag dumping, so it’s a different conversation. Yall do you, but maybe work on tactics and not on wrapping your cans to death.
@@malonlabe8806 if you’ve never burnt a pair of pants or kit while training, or even transitions, then you must not be getting the can hot enough or you’re just too good for us mere mortals. 😅 Joking aside, we’ve sold covers to tier 1 units around the world and they all say the same things. Transitions, thermal sig, burn mitigation, mirage, etc. trapping in heat is a myth. Not a single data driven test or paper has been published to show that wrapping a can with a cover like ours will degrade it faster. Prolonged Full auto or bad ammo is what destroys cans. Wrap or no wrap, it won’t impact that degradation enough to notice.

Yes they are
